that usually applies to mass hiring. at any time you can have 1000 people in lottery pool that get called randomly for exams as they would hire a few hundred at a time.

but the hiring freezes dont effect the fact that people quit, retire and sadly die. positions do open up but they dont do mass hiring.

There has been a hiring freeze since last June. (atleast up in Surface) they take the freeze off then call in another class every few months. The key to taking the test is APPLY EARLY like TODAY. That shit goes a long way when they call u. From the day u apply for the test on, everything goes by senority.

my friend was going for a bus driver job with the MTA


he was a heavy smoker, we grew up smoking together but i stopped before him...

he stopped almost 6 months from the time he applied...

after a mutual friend died we had smoked once after the wake with a few friends


he got hit with the interview a few weeks later and it showed up...

he was lucky, because he was offered the job already and started the training, they told him he had to take an anti drug class and re test..


he did what he had to do and got the job but he was lucky in the beginning your still not hired your on trial

JUST TO CLEAR SOME THINGS UP TRAIN OPERATERS,CONDUCTORS,TOWER OPERATERS AND A HOST OF OTHER FOLKS MAKES THIS CITY RUN,WHEN WE WENT ON STRIKE FOR 3DAYS THE CITY WAS AT A STAND STILL,EVEN THOU WE DONT GET THE CREDIT OR RESPECT FROM THE VERY PEOPLE WHO DEPEND ON US DAILY ,GO TO ANY OTHER CITY AND SEE WHAT THEIR SERVICE IS LIKE OR THE LIMITED SERVICE THAT YOU HAVE :angry::angry:

yea pretty much!! but you can make 100k depends on what you do in transit!!!

i am hoping i get called off the promotion list for Assistant train dispatcher.....can make 100-150k easy!! just sitting on your ass in there!!!

this old head was tellin me about that train dispatch. he said he came in as a booth clerk, and took the test n stuff and moved on up. now he gettin that paper.

My experience after the strike was the opposite. People would board my bus and be pissed that we didn't strike longer :lol:

Fam who you tellin? had I not have gotten called for this Job I would have easily hopped on Transit with the quickness especially as Bus operator with MabStoa but them ninjas said I had 5 pts on my license so I had a wait a few months and come back :hmm:

i've been working with nyct for 20 years 3 years as a conductor and 17 as motorman. it took 4 years for them to call me and when they it was a friday. my appointment was the following monday so if your system is dirty when they call you might as well forget it they dont give you much of a chance to clean out. its a sweet job no supervisors breathing down your neck is a plus. work on the #1 line, its real laid back. mad easy work once you get in you are good.
