Lebron James.................

Before we blindly crucify James lets closely examine the play and see who was truly at fault.
allstargame.jpg

As you can see LeBron the choker, seems to have the attention of the defense on their mind... Funny most poor shooter, ie Rondo the defense would back off and give them the perimeter at the three and sag to help out with the passing lane. But instead the defense is doubling up LeBron up high beyond the three point ark...
Next notice there are 4 defenders who eyes are on LeBron, leaving one defender from the West guarding 4 Eastern players, who have very poor spacing bunched together...
Howard, appears to be the logical choice pass to, runs into the defender, instead of going to the free spot on the floor.
Technically speaking James made the right decision, shooting a three with two draped on you would be a very poor choice, the other players bunched up took themselves out the play... Leaving only Howard who inexplicably runs towards the defense...

What do you guys suggest he have done?

It wasn't James that lost it at the end for the East but rather very poor spacing and execution..

I still can't figure out how threads like this even get 2 pages ... given the random porn threads sometimes do worse. The internet, I tell ya.

If my memory serves me correctly on that 2nd possession when Bron caught the ball, Kobe ran out to cover him. Kobe's momentum was going to LeBrons left as LeBron was making a move to his right. Had he been committed to taking the last shot and with his speed, he could have got to a spot where he could have taken the shot comfortably.

Don't take the "he made the right basketball play" approach. The right approach for someone of his caliber is him taking the shot regardless. You hit and you win, or you miss and lose, it's as simple as that. But the main thing is you take the shot. Do you think him taking the shot, with lets say two people jumping at him, was worse than him throwing it away and having Wade take that fucked up shot he took?

You take a wild ass shot way behind the three point line with 4.7 secs left and nobody there for the rebound.:smh:
And you see nothing wrong with the rest of the team bunched up to one side, so close they could literally hold hands..

What should have happen was, D. Williams should have cut to the base line, pulling his defender... Wade should have move toward James... Howard run under the basket... And Mello would have had a open three.

That's what you see. What I see is a whole side of the floor open so he could operate. But that's just me... and the rest of America lol

You realize that there are four eyes on him, and one defender playing the other 4.. This is basketball 101 anyone who played ball should know how to space.

All I know is that you better stop talking bad about LeFraud James on here. These LeFraud supporters will talk bad about your wife, your kids and grandmother. You will eventually get banned from the board if this negativity continues about the best player in the league so knock this shit off now!!! Understand that Mr. James can do whatever he wants on the court whenever he wants so you better fall in line with the rest of the supporters and open your fuckin eyes man!!!

Not Blindly do a Cross court Pass directly to Blake Griffin.

That's what, Fool.

Remember there is 4.8 secs left. If he was to go right then Durant was there at the top of the three point arc and Westbrook is there just in case he shook both Kobe and Durant. So going right is not an options.. Standing there and shooting there and trying to shoot over Durant would be very foolish.
And Passing to anyone other than Howard would be foolish also, being that the defenders are defending the passing lane/spot not the actual players..
If D.Williams did not clear his man out and he didn't the only play is to try to give the ball to Howard. Unfortunately when he made the pass, Howard read the play wrong, and crash towards the boards and into the defender for the rebound, instead of attacking the open portion of the floor..
Perhaps he thought D.Williams was going to pull his defender with him by pulling towards the corner.
This is the type of bone head play that got the Heat into trouble last year, and is something that they have worked on and got down pact this year.

Not me, I only talk X's and O's and use debate with stats. And if I am wrong I have no problems saying it, and if I feel I am right I try to support it with some type of evidence...

I hear ya my man. I don't have a problem with what you said. Just note that in some peoples eyes this man is god and can do no wrong. I don't think there's an athlete who is defended as much as this guy is when someone has a difference of opinion of his game. :smh: Oh well, the LeFraud supporters will have a field day with this one. Hell, I'm sure I'll get roasted for saying this. Watch.

Actually I wish it wasn't James involved with the play, that way people wouldn't have such an emotional connection either pro or against..
I want people to see the play from a strategic point of view, point out what the defense was trying to take away, and what they were giving up...
To be honest, if I were a coach and my team did this, I would really get on D. Williams case for not cutting.

Don't get me wrong, I have gotton on LeBron case plenty of times in the past. I even clowned him on the hairline thingy right here on BGOL. But to say that he is the one who lost the game for the East. Dude had the most points and the most assist. And during crunch time when the West had 4 defenders shadowing him, the rest of the unit were holding hands watching him.:smh:
But I would say this for the other players defense, if you are not used to playing with LeBron he is a real difficult player to play with because many times the reads playing with James are much different than what they are use to.

Good points. And no way was it his fault the East lost. Dude played great no question.

Who is the chick and more of her please

Exhibition game...

yeah it's that until the last 3 mins or so. Then it gets competitive. With that many talented people on the court all of those players should want to prove they are the best and that they belong. When it comes to the elite players, we know they belong, they should want to prove they can close out/dominate the other elite players.

This new "everyone gets a trophy/soft" generation thinks it's good enough to just drop numbers and be okay with not getting the win. Fuck all that, no need to whoop ass all game and come up short when you don't have too. This dude had the ball in his hands and decided to pass up on the moment. You guys respect that? That's what you want in a franchise player? If he takes that shot (hit or miss), this thread wouldn't even exist. It wouldn't be a story. But guess what the top story of tomorrow is going to be...

This whole new generation accepts mediocrity across the board. You accept shit from hollywood (tyler perry/ transformer movies ETC) you accept bull shit music (Gucci Mayne, nikki minaj ECT) you accept shit from your sports stars (LBJ). The only way you try to justify this shit is by saying "they getting money" or "they out sold whoever" or "he scored more points than..." That's not good enough. What makes you great to to go above and beyond and not just live up to "standards". Fuck a standards.

When Lebron cut right, Durant went with him leaving Melo open. He should've kicked it to Melo, but instead tried to throw it over 3 red shirts to get it to Wade who was open, but his shot would've been contested by BG anyway.

As soon as Lebron stuck his head up, Durant went back to Melo, leaving Lebron just one on one with Kobe on the right side. He could've kept going right (with Durant going back to Melo) and went for the two and tried to get fouled by Kobe or kick it to Melo (instead of Wade) who would've had a good look at the top of the key because Durant would've been a step late.

And to be fair, Williams deserves some blame for the last play and not just for airing the 3. Williams was looking at Lebron the whole 7 seconds, he didn't even look to his left once to see his 3 undefended teammates after he rebounded the ball.

Griffin's out of bounds b/c he was trying to go for the rebound. Paul's on Williams, Kobe's on Lebron, Westbrook is on the other side by himself and Durant's on the other side of Howard up on Lebron. At the :10 mark, Williams rebounds the ball, Durant on the other side of Howard, Melo open, 6 seconds left. Wade would've been contested by BG regardless. Williams kick it to Howard, he would've only had Westbrook to worry about. Williams jumped the gun and kicked it to the only guy getting defended besides himself.

The problem is nobody is saying LeBron is the greatest, on the contrary they are say he is very good far from mediocre.. (You don't give a mediocre player that much attention by the defense..)
It reminds me how defenses used to stack up against Barry Sanders, and he would never get as many yards as a Emmit Smith a player who was blessed to play on a team with a great QB and great WR"S to keep the defense honest for him.
Like Kobe and LeBron, Emitt and Sanders were both great in their own ways, you cant take away from either because they both played under different circumstances.
But anyone who tryies to take away from James game is just as guilty as people who tries to take away from Kobe's achievements.
But to say that either on are the greatest nope, the best you can say is that they are the two best in their era.

The problem is that D. William defender was in the area due to him standing there not moving. Now if Williams were to cut that would have been the proper decision because Mello would have been wide open.
Note Williams should have cut right away as soon as he saw that they were overloaded to one side and that his defender was the only on actually playing a defender other than LeBrons man.

I dont know how anyone can defend the last play by Lebron. He got them back in the game with his play over the last 6 minutes but he clearly botched that last possession. He had Kobe one on one with the entire ride side of the court. Kobe cant defend him that far away from the basket as he doesnt have the footspeed anymore. So as opposed to going to the lane the throws a cross court pass into a sea of defenders? smh
