Lebron James.................

Williams stayed in the same spot form 6.6 to 3.3 allowing his man to defend both himself and Melo.

RR,

Your boy has Top 5 All-Time potential, and may be regarded as Top 5 when it's all said and done - but it's time to stop making excuses. Dude is just not that GUY. Kobe's achilles HEEL is unwillingness to take intelligent shots. Look how far he's come despite that.

At the same time, don't think I can't show you instances of him taking intelligent shots, and averaging 30 and shooting over 50 during the stretch?

I could EASILY do that.

Lebron has made clutch shots over the course of his career. At the same time, it's CLEAR that the dude just is not hard-wired to embrace those opportunities. You don't get a reputation for something out of thin air. The dude is FUCKING great, but he is just flawed like Kobe, hell... like Shaq...

Answer these questions:

1. What if Kobe's shot selection was at least above average?

2. What if Lebron relished end of the game moments?

3. What if Shaq could shoot free-throws?

You have three all-time great players, all with an achilles heel that APPEAR to be fixable. At the same time, Kobe was shooting ridiculous shots when he first came, and he's doing the SAME shit now. Shaq was poor free throw shooter his entire career. I'm SURE that is a problem that could have been fixed if he had REALLY, REALLY wanted to - but he never fixed it. Lebron appears to not WANT that last shot. Take it and hit it? I'm sure he has, and he will. But, when a superstar doesn't WANT IT, it's noticeable.

Wade WANTS it, but he's not Lebron. Sorry, but Lebron is simply a more dominant player, and that's saying something. Wade just has that mentality that Lebron doesn't.

...but, even though I'm supposed to hate on the motherfucker simply 'cause he's not a Laker, that was a NASTY ASS FUCKING FLUSH Lebron threw down at the the very beginning with his left hand.

Ol' balding ass bitch nigga.:lol::lol:

I dont know how anyone can defend the last play by Lebron. He got them back in the game with his play over the last 6 minutes but he clearly botched that last possession. He had Kobe one on one with the entire ride side of the court. Kobe cant defend him that far away from the basket as he doesnt have the footspeed anymore. So as opposed to going to the lane the throws a cross court pass into a sea of defenders? smh

But he was double stacked with Durant trailing and Westbrook shadowing.. The proper read was to lure the defense to the right, which he did, the swing the ball across the there point arch, until they find some one open.. But Williams did not pull his man away, allowing his defender to play two men, and that nullified their number advantage. But it was a such a bang bang play, and Williams head may have not been there after the miss to win the game.

Also Kobe may not have the footspeed but he is a very intelligent defender and people should give him more credit for his basket ball IQ, notice how he led James into the defense by riding his right and Durant picked up on this knowing that James had one way to go, and the third layer was Westbrook who was the third layer just in case he got by the first tow.. Very good defense but the offense failed with there spacing and this is how they lost.

But he was double stacked with Durant trailing and Westbrook shadowing..

Durant didnt double...he flashed and left quickly. The proper play considering the time left on the shot and his hot hand was to go hard right and get a nice mid range shot or go all the way to the rack. You only give the ball up if you are doubled hard and you have a wide open player for a better shot.

Here is the snap shot at the point of the pass. And here you can see Durant playing double stacking and ready to shoot the gap in the passing lane to help rotate over to Mello who was forced to trail the play towards Durant to try to create some space between himself and D. William man...
If Williams were to cut to the baseline, Mello could have remain where he was at, and once James rolled to the right attracting Kobe, Durant, and Westbrook, all he would had have to do was throw the ball to a wide open Mello. That should have been the play.

CLOSE THIS SHIIIIIIIIT DOWN..Greatest last shot in NBA HISTORY!!!!!!

Apples and Oranges, Magic was in the paint all ready in the paint, and they collapsed on on him but it too late.. Magic could not and would not attempt that shot beyond the three point ark with two players in his fact...
Never the less it was a very great play that very few players in the history of the game is able to pull off.

Look Durant off (he was already moving away from Lebron and ran over to Melo). Go hard right. Not really that complicated. Lebron just had a brain freeze and did the absolute worst thing (throwing a cross court pass into a sea of defenders).

This was very simply X's and O's. Lebron was trying to advoid the trap. D Williams fucked up the play by not moving. If Lebron takes just two more dribbles there would have been a hard trap. Howard should have screened Blake and Wade would have been open. The blame on this play goes to D Williams

Durant saw James hand cocked and did the proper thing, anticipate jumping over toward Melo. This is why trying to pass to Melo at this point was the incorrect move...
The problem is that Melo was forced to move toward Lebron in order to create space from William defender, but by doing so, he also moved towards Durant allowing him to defend both LeBron and play the passing lane.
Now if you look at 4.8 mark and look at the spacing then, factor in James rolling to his right, if Williams was to cut to the baseline and his defender followed, and if Melo were to stay at home, Durant would be too far away from Melo to play both he and LeBron...
Of course Williams man may not have followed him to the baseline, then in that case Wade would crash the basket, forcing the two defenders to guard both Howard and Wade and the play would be passing around the three point arch to Melo then Melo passing to the open Williams.
This shit may sound complicated, but good players should know how to correctly space and cut.
allstargame.jpg

Compare Melo's positioning from this pic to the one below, and you can see that he was rollling right closer to Durant to peel away from CP4
allstar2.jpg

Now if Williams would have cut to the baseline pulling his man, look how much space Melo would have had.

I think this is a good thing, because you know that Erik Spoelstra is going to dissect this play and it would be something that the Heat would work on the next few days..

Man. You cats are talking all this could have- should have bullshit. Lebron is a fucking superstar. He is supposed to make the damn play. If Williams doesnt cut, so fucking what. You dont force the pass into a sea of defenders. You default to the best possible option and at that point it was for him to drive right and get a mid-range shot at minimum. Easy. You think with 4 second left and a flash from Durant and one defender on him...Jordan, Bird, etc would have taken two dribbles and lofted a fucking cross court pass into the heart of the defense???

Give me a break with this bullshit. Ive defended Lebron on a lot of shit but a spade is a spade. He fucked up on that last play. That was a horrible decision.

I'm not even mad that he didn't shoot I'm mad that this dude threw a cross court pass when an open Carmelo Anthony was right next to him.

That was a panic move. Lebron is too got-damn good of a player to make a mistake like that.

I used to play ball and the biggest pet peeve used to be guys who did not cut and poor spacing..
How the fuck is all the East players on one side, especially when the defenders are over playing to his left and forcing him to the right... The reason why James took the two dribbles to the right, was to create space between himself and Melo, but Melo was forced to trail him to get away from Williams man...
As a point your goal is to drive into the over committed defense then swing the ball over towards the flooded side where you players should have the numbers...
But due to poor spacing that plan was foiled...
The reason why Jordan and Bird would never be in that position, is because back then players were smarter and knew how to move with out the ball a lot better.

Durant was playing the passing lane and was in position to jump the gap... Now if Melo was to be where he was at the 4.8 mark, he would have been wide open... But he was too busy trying to peel away from Williams man, who was essentially playing two men at once... but if Williams were to pull this defender away then Melo could have stayed home and he would have been wide open...
Just look at the two pics, and notice how much everybody moved in comparison to Williams..

RR, You are beginning to sound like you are head of PR for Lebron. Ive seen plenty of great players in that same situation and make the correct play. Shit, Ive seen Lebron in that situation and he made the correct play.

Yesterday, he fucked up. Point blank. Stop defending this shit.

Lebron did the right thing yesterday...

You know me, I got on James case in the past when he fucked up. But as a former guard I know the responsibly of Williams.. He is supposed to cut to where Wade was, and when he did that Wad would go done the baseline...
Now look at these pics and imagine they were to do what I said, and tell me that Melo would not be wide open.

Its not whether he did the right or wrong thing, its more like the defense played very well, and the offense did not create proper space forcing James to either shoot a shot five feet from the three point arch, roll right into a over pusuing defense that was ready to trap, try to get it to Melo who had a defender both behind him and Durant shooting for the passing lane, try to give it to Howard who had two defenders around him both playing the passing lane, or try to thread it to Wade who was the only on open but that meant defeating the players who are playing the passing lane and who's eyes were on James not the defender... Once it got to this point there were no good choices left... But one cut by Williams and the situation would have changed in favor of the East.

He could not continue to drive right because he would have run into a hard trap. Only a few players could have beat that trap and one being D Rose. D Rose has the speed and quickness to turn that corner.

It is not bullshit but simple X's & O's. When the trap is coming you have to pass or stay in the middle of the floor. Driving right would have not been the correct choice. In this situation. D Williams needed to move and he never did.

Lebron saw the hard trap coming and was waiting for someone to move. You had four players on one side of the court leaving Lebron to go one of four against Kobe, Durant, westbrook and Blake. That is a tough situation and getting a shot up over those players would be tough

He could not continue to drive right because he would have run into a hard trap.

Durant had ALREADY left before he passed the ball. Then, the entire right of the court was open and Kobe would have been easy to beat going right.

You guys dont know the difference between a show and a double. Durant flashed and then headed towards Melo immediately.

Before Lebron passed the ball, he had Kobe bring one on one with the entire right wing of the court clear.

A simple ball fake would have moved Durant even quicker than he already moved.

Lebron just made a stupid play...point blank.

We seen LeBron do that very same play several times this year where he draws the double team and before they can trap, he passes to Haslem or Wade (playing the Melo role) and when the defenders rotate over, they then pass to an open Chalmers at corner.
Heat fans can identify with this because it is something that is in their arsenal that was lacking last year.

Durant was stacked to LeBrons right to back up Kobe who was cutting off the left... James pulled right, drawing those two, but being that Durant was futher back, he was able to defend the passing lane and as soon as Lebron looked up and cocked his arm, Durant jumped toward Melo.
You can tell he was playing James becaue his eyes was looking at James eyes, and no one else.
And even if he got around Kobe and Durant look at Westbrook, and look whose eyes he was looking into.

Durant left because Lebron picked up his tribble he forced Lebron by flashing hard. The issue with the play is that D Williams never moved. He should have cut and Melo would have had a window to shoot. It is pretty clear Lebron was not looking to score but draw the defense and kick it out.

:yes::yes::yes:
And if you look at the video you can tell that Williams was sulking with his head down after missing the potential game winning shot.

You see how you are making my got-damn point. How do you FORCE someone to pick their dribble by flashing a double? That is just one of the many mistakes Lebron made on that play.

EDIT. Lebron NEVER picked up his dribble.

Also... that wasnt even really a HARD flash by Durant.

Very simple. If you continue to dribble towards that baseline you would run into a trap.

There wasnt anyone there to trap you fucking retard. Durant only showed and went back towards melo. The baseline wasnt there. And Lebron didnt even pick up his dribble. Why are you lying to support your argument.

You know what watching it in real time, I can't kill Williams, and James was doing what they do in Miami, so cant blame him either..
Most guards are taught to stay out by the three point line so Williams was doing what most guards do.. But Miami their guards are trained to cut and create spacing. So in the Miami scheme of things, James move was correct but most teams do not play like this..
I dont know how the time out situation, but looking back a time out would have been the best thing to do.

Durant was playing the passing lane and was in position to jump the gap... Now if Melo was to be where he was at the 4.8 mark, he would have been wide open... Nah. Just watched the play 10 times Durants momentum was already going the opposite way. No way he would have been able to jump back and cut off that lane, even if he could have the only other option was to shoot the fucking ball.

Stop giving dude excuses. He made the worst of the available decisions.... In fact Wade wasnt even available.
