Kobe's Parents at the Memorial: do you feel they were treated with respect?

I change my stance on this. The parents didn't attend his wedding, last game, or jersey ceremony.

If they were comfortable leaving him hanging at his one and only wedding, then they simply got a taste of their own medicine at the funeral. I had no idea they were this bad at the outset. That's some selfish shit to do to your kid, regardless of preference.

Unfucking believable. A member of BGOL, after sifting through evidence, actually changed his mind AND admitted it too. This has never happened in the existence of BGOL.....

If I was still giving out BGOL scholarships, you would be a shoo-in.

Some of ya'll are straight crazy. What happened yesterday was straight DISRESPECTFUL TO KOBE'S MOM, DAD AND SISTERS....PERIOD! They were and are his parents and should be accorded the respect as such. THEY DID NOT abandon him, Dad Did Not leave him. If you recall, they were always a close family up thru his rookie year. I understand they grew apart, thats fair, that KB started his own family. Got it. But in the case of this tragic death, and public ceremony, THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED. After all, KBs Mom, lost her Son...Period. As did Joe lose his Son and the Sisters lost their Brother. Could have easily been handled, but in all fairness, it was beautiful ceremony and they all died too young.
Alot of these cats clearly had horrible a upbringing and were never instilled with a sense of family and the importance of self identity and respecting elders. The parents should have been acknowledged. Period.

Give me a break. None of the Mexicans carried him in their tummy for months or got him in the NBA

So ppl can treat u like shit because they brought you into the world through THEIR own decisions.

And Kobe got himself to the NBA. He was the deciding factor on that. His parents weren't out there shooting/playing defense for him. They helped him on his journey to the NBA. But that doesn't give them the right to treat him badly.

I don’t understand some of these athlete parents especially Lavar Ball and some of the moms of some of the top football players on national signing day. I mean if you have guided your son to become one the top recruits in the country and every school is giving him a full ride scholarship let the young man make his own decision as to what school they want to spend their next 4 years. These parents along with Mr Ball just have to fall back, give advice and let the young men make their choice it’s the rest of their lives not yours. Parents have already lived their life.

Why u think he disowned his parents? The same parents who didn't go to their only son's WEDDING. They not attending weddings but somehow they wanna show up for some money?

Man gtfoh with those types of parents. Like I said earlier, his parents ain't about SHIT.

They didn’t go to his wedding, okay that’s cause to cut them off.? The didn’t like what the saw in Vanessa and that tends to happen a lot in family’s. He still has sisters and nieces and nephews he could had relationships with. Not acknowledging his parents in death seems extremely petty, can’t be about peace/love/family while cutting off the people who raised you, and the entire family. Seems like they wanted keep the petty going after death

Kobe didn’t get there alone. You don’t think having a professional athlete as father help? Having access to professional level tutoring didn’t help? Having money to attend great schools and different camps didn’t help?
That’s like Peyton Manning saying Archie didn’t help him getting to NFL.

Kobe's story always revolved around being Jelly Bean's son, so that part isn't true. From his black grandfather sending him videotapes of nba games while living in Europe with his black former NBA player father. Being black was always a part of his narrative. He was also cool with his sisters and Nephew. They're just really private.
From what I read read, he didn't cut off his sisters financially just to be an asshole, he did it so they could find their own way.

In the movie Cool hand Luke, Like said, "QUIT EATING OFF ME," and his sisters were living good off of handouts from him and not doing anything on their own.

That's understandable, maybe even admirable

Not as big of a piece of shit as someone who is worth over 100 mill cutting off the woman who raised him :dunno:
To some people, their mom can do no wrong. Two others there's only so much they are willing to put up with.

Mom gets a longer rope than friends, former teammates, cousins, etc., But she doesn't have a built-in lifelong get-out-of-jail-free card.

If you give your mom that, good for you. Maybe you have a better mother than I do who actually deserves it, but me...nah bruh.

If I come in to millions right now, I'll buy my mom a five-year-old Toyota and pay off her rent but that might be it, and she should be happy to get that. I've said before that my ex-wife told my mother that she was going to divorce me a month-and-a-half before I found out and my mother didn't tell me. When I asked her why, she said she didn't want to break her (my ex-wife's) confidence

Beyond foul. Besides that, my mom is hella childish. At birthday dinners with my brother (end of December) and my sister (beginning of January) she ignored me, didn't speak to or acknowledge me at all.

The Superbowl party that year was at my house and my brother let it slip that she wasn't coming (she didn't come to the one 2 years before) so I text her that she's not invited, and not to worry about calling me for my birthday (day after Superbowl).

We haven't spoken much since 2017. Only at a bank function (we bank at the same location), where she gave me and my girlfriend a half hug then ignored us for the rest of the night.

Folk kill me with extended family always having to get a shout out. MEN leave their family (mama and daddy) and create their own family and sometimes it is about the family that MAN created.

It’s not far fetched or out of bounds to give a shoutout to mom and pops especially if they played an integral role in his upbringing. He’s a sum total of all the lessons he directly or indirectly received from his folks from birth to the time he got into the league.

Furthermore, did you see Nips Memorial? Not only did the speakers shoutout Lauren London and his kids, but they also showed love to his Dad and Mom whom both spoke. It’s more common to shoutout the parents than not to unless the relationship was fractured as it was in this situation.

Plenty of athletes get help. Doesn't mean they all become professionals in the NBA/NFL/MLB etc..

It's only you taking that shot through it all.

Ok, I guess some ppl are gluttons for punishment from their parents due to obligation. I'm not built for that. My parents can't treat me like shit just cause I dont give in to their financial wishes. Especially when I more than offered plenty more times than not.

Parents can be dictators if they want. It dont mean their children have to live under that dictatorship as adults.

Yet his mexican in-laws were living in mansions and driving luxury vehicles all on his dime.

Yall need to stop romanticizing this nigga and call it what it is.

They in-laws apparently didn’t complain about the mansion by wanting bigger mansions and better luxury cars than the ones that Kobe provided. It appears that they may have been appreciative of whatever Kobe provided them with?

But then again, we don’t know :dunno:

Did you edit your post? Usually a post states when it’s edited. Because I didn’t edit your post in my response and your post that I read didn’t mention his sisters?

Weird to if you say you didn’t edit it.

Now I simply called you mad, there was no need for insults.

I’m not going to call you and asshole, or tell you to kiss my ass or suck my dick for being a bitch. I’m going to do none of those things.

Actually I re-read this post that I’m replying to and you can apply all the insults above to yourself.

Lastly, most of us don’t know everything that happened with Kobe’s parents and in-laws, but you do.

Hey my man... Learn to fucking read if you gonna respond. My post that YOU quoted and responded to was in reference to how he cut off his sisters yet had no problem financing the entire lifestyles of in laws. Your response redirected to his parents. I then responded to that issue as well as telling you that you were an idiot for not addressing the actual content on my post that YOU decided to respond to.

Now either apologize or move the fuck on somewhere nigga.

Hey “My Man”... Or should I say Dumbass. I Literally just fucking told you that I didn’t edit your post and choose what to respond to. Why would I do that? I have no issue talking about his sisters.

I now understand that I’m responding to a dunce that can’t understand plain fucking English.

So yes, I apologize for responding to someone with special needs not knowing what level of intelligence that they had and that’s my bad.

And I’ll also “Move the fuck on”, nigga.

I mentor and see wild shit from parents/relatives all of the time. :smh: Some are just attention whores and cant stand to see anybody else get any attention while others are legit jealous of their kids and will try to sabotage shit. Shit is sad as fuck to see...

Thanks for posting.

Shaq did mention the parents but he was the only one.

I saw Kobe’s Dad hurting, I think I also saw tears in his Mom’s eyes and she was also breathing hard at one point. Definitely rough all around.
