the funny shit was the only year Nash deserved to win was the third year. They were about to give it to him too until people started questioning about how he could win 3 in a row without dominating the league to the point where he got the finals etc.
Nobody questioned shit. Most b-balls fans were happy that a player with classic skills was finally being rewarded.
Taking Phoenix from 29 wins to 62 wins (in his first year) was reason enough to win an MVP.
Basically even though he DID deserve it in year 3 they gave it to Dirk to divert attention from their affirmative action vote the two previous years.
That's really dumb. Fact is, they'll ALWAYS give it to a big man if there's one with reasonable credentials on a successful team.
Nowitzki was overdue to win, and that was his best shot. He had a solid (if not his best) regular season on a team that won 67 games.
Nash is not a hall of famer. He's very solid but if you look it up he doesn't qualify stats or accomplishment wise.
He got a late start, but if you count his prime years then he certainly qualifies. As for stats, he's an all-time great shooter and assists man. No other player in history has averaged over 11 Assists, 50% from the Field, 90% from the Line and 47% from the 3-PT line in the same season. That's as perfect as it gets in terms of guard-play, offensively. And that was just two years ago, when he finished 9th in the MVP voting. He's basically done that for the last 5 years, and was just a couple of notches below that the previous 4 or 5 with Dallas.
The only thing backers can say for him is he won 2 MVPs.
Well, every two-time MVP is in the Hall of Fame.
Stockton was the real deal white point guard that I've seen.
White OR black.
Nash definitely has done some things but he doesn't quite deserve the accolades he's gotten. Anyway the NBA has to do something to attract older white fans, its understandable.
Nash's PLAY is what attracts fans. Not his hype. People can see what he does with their own two eyes, and they like it. CLASSIC player.
I personally think J Kidd should at least be in the conversation for #1 point guard of the decade given that he took his team to two finals etc.
Horrible shooter.
And Nash over Iverson is very very questionable as well. Whatever else you want to say Iverson did bring a team to the finals.
Not a good shooter, and only an average assist man. Flash over substance. Talk about hype. I guess young
black fans need someone to cheer for.
LeBron over KG is dumb too.
What has
Lebron done wrong so far???
