Basically I uploaded the drums from the Linn Drum & asked participants to produce a track from ANY genre using said drums. It did not have to be any particular style (hip hop, rock, jazz ...) it only had to use the drums from the Linn Drum machine.

Skinnie Talls:

LaVeNDeR SNoW ... produced by Ecks.mp3

Selfscience:

It's something.

Track is in the Key of C

Keys by TUNE

Guitar by TUNE

Sample: David Ruffin voice sample/ I wish it Would Rain

These were this months entries, feedback is always welcome and encouraged. Vote in the poll up top please.

Just a heads up,the first 2 aren't showing up on my phone.
Can't see or play them.
Says I need a plug in.
I've tried with Firefox and chrome.
Not sure if it's happening to anyone else.

Skinnie Tails - why that got a young Prince vibe going, awww sheeet!!! Great!

Selfscience - Nas Dr. Octagon RZA MF Doom flow I like it alot! That is so East Coast real hip hop, tuff.

Jaquez - Damn that was that 90s feel good right there, I like it, I like it a lot. DAmn!

Dr. Truth - I could hear Drake on this one EASY...nicely done this is nearly almost practically radio ready for right now!

Dat Dude Dere - Oh like this, flows nicely that got soul right there gotta smooth it out though I hear if you polish this up? sounds like the duet Mr. Scarface & Biggie never got to do. Southern home cooking

I can't choose I can't....

the are so unique you dudes are masterful. You ALL used it best...so I can't gauge it on that.

I would say just off the INITIAL listen?

Truth track sounds the most radio ready...but there is such a distinct vibe with the others and each is organic. To be honest they all sound outstanding.

I appreciate your time playahaitian for listening and giving feedback. This month was more about diversifying the music of the entries. My joint sounds fresh out the 80s, Self joint is fresh out the 90s, Truth joint was fresh out the 2Ks. You got Jaquez coming outta nowhere and bringing his vibe. Dat Dude Dere heard a few joints and liked them enough to try his hand and it worked.

I don't want nothing you can tell time on. If Scorsese can make flicks about the 60's-70s etc, why can't we make period pieces of music?

Kudos to all participants, I know y'all probably seen the original thread & heard the kit like "What the fuck?"

Skinnie Talls: I like the old Minnesota flavor. Time, Prince, etc... I can hear The-Dream over it now. Very smooth vibe.
Science: Mos Def East Coast - I like the change up at the end.
Jaquez: Could easily go for late 90's R&B vibe without the samples.
Dr. Truth: My favorite. Just on this vibe right now. It would easily shop.
Dere: Straight southern soul. 2nd favorite. Guitar adds that flavor.

Couldn't hear the first two. Jacquez as was said before that track had a throwback feel. But I dig Dr Truth shit and Tune that sounds like some old southern gangsta shit. I could hear Krit on that. Good shit y'all.

Big krit!!!! That was name I was looking for!

Mos def!!! That's perfect...and that guitar just makes the whole track like warm gumbo.

Dat Dude Dere got some heat. I feel a way that I voted before listening to his joint, however it was the only one I let ride out.
I listened to Truth's entry twice, that shit was so mellow. You know a beat is fire when you immediately Google "downloading from soundcloud" or you join the site so you can bookmark it.

I agree with much that was said in here from the comments. I liked all the beats.

Personally, this wasn't one of my better beats. Actually this was a frustrating month in beat making. But the most important thing is that I learned something new using this drum kit, so I can now refine and blossom my skills.

Thanks for the feedback fellas it's my first entry...and I definitely know what my weaknesses are. I have to work on timing and finalizing the track or polishing up. The other producers seem to have timing on lock.

All beats I enjoyed:

Skinnie: a feel good calming track

Science: smooth abstract flow, beat blended well

Jaquez: you'll make Erick Sermon proud...showroom ready production

Truth: simple and elegant flow and emotional track...made me want to call some chicks and apologize for not giving them commitment after all that late night, bedroom punishment.

Tune: Soulful, gritty.... but it was too busy compared to the other producers. I got some homework to do.

Skinny threw us a curve ball this month - when i first heard the kit I was like which way am i going with this. I just knew I was going to use the 808, but it didn't turn out that way. I like how the kit bought out so many different styles - I thoroughly enjoyed listening to everybody's beat and I really appreciate everybody taking the time to listen, vote and give feedback.

Skinnie- Nice atmospheric vibe airy snares and accompaniment. Great builds and breaks, using peaks and valleys really well on the production giving it a definitive sound and era to it which isn't dated imo.
Science- Consistently consistent. We talked about finding the groove and how that groove is interpreted by each individual ear. I understand your groove and what makes you nod so in turn it makes me nod because I can envision those moments where you found it, it felt good and you rode the rhythm.
Jacquez- Nice steady nod to it. I think you used the drums really well and you did a good job keeping the listener interested in what was going on. It didn't get too sleepy on the track which is a great thing when dealing with instrumentals that don't have the vocals to set everything off.
Dr Truth- Views from the 510. Sonically outstanding and you know the tricks of the trade with the tidbits of effects and stuttering just the right amount to change up the variation and give it a polished feels. This is different from the other ones I've heard from you as it's more subtle. Filtering effects and all worked really well as to build up to the hook portion of the music. Really well done.

Overall just getting a drum to use is surprisingly limiting because you can only find a piece that fits with the feel of the drums which is really harder than it sounds. Keeping that in mind and even discarding it, it was a good turnout this month. I look forward to checking in next month with some concoctions of my own I'll probably just do nothing but trap EDM the whole year lol.

Good luck I'm not checking the polls.
