HQ Desktop wallpaper --ongoing thread-- *warning* memory/bandwidth killer

I know these are wallpapers but some of these demand an explanation out of curiosity. What is this. The design is peculiar and there seems to be much wasted empty space here for no apparent reason. Why would a modern design have this dead space? Just wondering.

I was intrigued by the photo as well. Image search says it's Copenhagen, Denmark.

Urban Planning: How do the residents of Brøndby (Denmark) find living in allotments arranged in a circle?
Brøndby has an area of garden allotments where the land is divided into pie segments. The primary purpose is to give city dwellers a space to visit and garden (away from their homes), so with the focus on gardening, the low density is not a problem. Whilst it was never intended for people to live there, and residents are prohibited from living there year-round, the "garden sheds" (not "homes"!) have electricity and toilets etc, and many people live there all summer.

Now that this community is nearly 50 years old, I'm interested to hear what the residents have learned about the experience of living in this arrangement. Would it be practical for year-round living? How does it change interactions in the community? If land were available and affordable to allow such low density development, would they recommend this configuration to urban planners...
