How rare is it to bench 225? (NFL Combine Standard)

[Former bench lover here]

Fuck a bench. OHP is the truth!
I'm working my way to 225lbs seated strict shoulder press.
In others words, I can easily overhead press your bitch if you start acting funny.

Also, bench pressing fucks you with your posture. Too little emphasis on scapula retraction. You are much better off doing feet-elevated weighted pushups with 45-185 lbs on your back. More depth and ROM.
It recruits much more lat action and seriously improves your bench without sacrificing back development.

The only exercises that impresses me nowadays are pull-ups and military pressing.

These younger dudes don't like doing bench and I believe cause it turns into a competitive thing where they think someone is judging how much their benching and maybe they are but who cares you're doing it for yourself.

250 bench is a great way to keep a broad chest, something pushups won't do in the long run.
Yes and no.... well that's my opinion at least.

I think with more research and studies is been shown that you can get a better, fuller chest using dumbbells and other exercises.

Now the flat barbell bench press is seen more as a show of strength vs an actual viable exercise for chest development.

That's my .02 cents...

And i can easily show you how a 6 gram bullet can render all that monkey shit moot.
Oh, you assume I don't have my LTC...
I can just as quickly put two in your chess and one in the head for good measure, but more importantly, ruthlessly beat with my bare hands if it came to it.

I am not surprised 98% of BGOL can bench 225lbs like it's nothing for warmup.
Man it was a dude that used to post here, we used to play gta online together... if you know, you know... we was like family on Xbox talking shit, sharing stories, etc.

So anyway one of the dudes was telling a story about the time he tore his pec muscle and he was like "I was warming up with 275 like I always do and as I got to my 7th or 8th rep I felt a tear..."

Everybody else on chat was quiet until I finally said "nigga who tf are you, Ronnie Coleman?? This nigga warming up with people max bench n shit..."

Learned a long time ago it's a large variety of people that post here... some of it's probably cap but then when others talk you hear the passion and knowledge in their voice or their text and you know instantly "this mufucca know exactly what he's talking about."

 I don't believe any of those guys on social media who say they warm up with weight like that most times from their comments I can tell if they even workout or not

What's Your Thoughts On the GOB Pad That Charles Glass Has for Chest Development on the Flat Bench.....Also He Was Saying the Decline is the King Cause It Hits Whole Chest Upper, Middle and Lower

and there's only one nigga on here that gets bullied on the leg press machine when he doesn't take the weights off when he's done with it....

I wish this had better parameters to determine your strength level compared to your peers.

General Male Strength Parameters:
1. Remove women from total sample size
2. Factor age range between 16-55
3. Consider adult weight range between 140-350 lbs
4. Must be a moderate to active gym goer (1-7 days per week)

This would give you a better sense of your strength versus your peers.
It's narrow and broad enough to make a general comparison.

The incline is king I do agree with that. You don't even need a real big incline either, that first notch is more than enough to get the job done.

And yes I'm a huge fan of Charles Glass but you can accomplish that same thing by simply making it a point to drop your shoulder blades before doing any pressing motion... that will naturally lift your chest up and you're good. That pad just helps those that can't set their body properly for the lift

225 is literally starter weight. 135 -185 is barely warming up.

i dont understand people saying that is fat boy weight. that shit was standard back in high school and is still standard at the gyms i work out at. i wrestled varsity 160 (weighed btwn 155-160 as a junior/senior) in high school and was expected to rep 225.

anyone hitting reps of 225 is regular.

that 315+ weight for reps is when people begin to take notice.
I super set with pullups and chin-ups as soon as I leave the bench. 10 sets of 8-12 after you get off the bench? 225 x 3-6 reps, then hit the lat pulldown, curls, chinups, pullups, triceps dip. 8-10 reps. Wrestlers are deceptively strong in my opinion. Gotta watch them but I've concentrated on my boxing/mixed style.

In HS I was tall and sickly skinny, but my chest was my body part that has always responded the most and thr fastest. Hit 225 in 10th and AR one point could do 5 or 6 reps. That was a huge point of pride for years
These days I pretty much only use bands and dumbells, and that's WHEN I actually find the time and energy to work out. No way I'm hitting 225 on an actual bench these days....that shit went away with my dunking ability.

Every once in a while if a store has their upright chest machine on display and usable, I can actually lift a lot of plates.

.

I mean, if a guy puts the work in, it's very much attainable. It's not something that most normal sized are gonna just be able to do without working up to it... so those guys you have known are dudes who put in work.

Half black men I've ever known in my life bench 225 unless they were elderly, adolescent

I could apply his statistics to this thread with 100% accuracy.

BTW, I see many people doing shit with terrible form. Honestly, if you lift regularly and use proper form 225 shouldn't be that difficult to reach. Especially on a flat bench. You've got damn near your entire upper body pushing.

Less than 10% of the world can bench their body weight, benching 225 is not normal and I’m happy being part of the the top 3% 5’10,205 never maxed out but I do 4x10 at 185 5th set is 225 and do it as many times as possible.
Yeah, that's a lot of mf weight. We talking a Rhino or bull. 2k pounds. But folks talk, show us. For me, I already showed it and my core is bulletproof. That flat bench hit differently like that incline bench. I may post a video but nobody except hardcore lifters fucks with that flat and incline bench.

Max at 315 back in sophomore year of college days. I havent tried getting on that bench in over 15 years. 225 was that ultimate goal during high school days. I went to check a Florida high school championship game and the entire D line looked like all they did was bench and triceps pull downs. Game done changed.
