I wonder how important China will be going forward considering India has a population as big and is an emerging market. That Bollywood dance shit in Eternals was made to appeal to an Indian audience. Furthermore, Top Gun already told China to kick rocks.
Yeah, but China money is long as fuck and established as giving hollywood big numbers. It will be interesting going forward. China just basically told them to cut the weirdo shit out and to stop emasculating male characters. Folks swear it's just incels complaining since that's the narrative Hollywood is pushing.
I've never seen it either. But I've heard women talk about it.
And they seem to sound like they're talking about predator 1 the way they describe it
Wait. What's wrong with the first predator?

The US and China have different cultures. If Hollywood caters to China then they risk losing American dollars. Since China is a authoritarian, communist country it's not very popular by either side in the US. The US has to play this wisely.

Personally, I'd rather not have movies altered just to please some totalitarian censors in a foreign country. I'd just give up watching Hollywood productions and stick to independent films.

Richard Gere was one of the top stars in Hollywood until this :smh:

Bgol is getting more like incel twitter everyday. Who hurt you guys? Let me go slow...Women are ok, they should be allowed to do more than make you a sandwich, and no women getting movie roles isn't the reason you can't get pussy. It's you. It's all you.

Disney is doing a reboot of the franchise.

So go ahead right now and do a CTRL-ALT-DEL on your brain and ignore all the prior projects.

You gonna have to do the same with the Alien franchise when they release those soon.

So no need getting yourself worked up comparing future stuff to the old stuff. This series is kicking it off for the Predator franchise.
That was before Disney purchased 20th Century FOX.

Everything made with Alien/Predator before Disney purchased FOX in 2020, it doesn’t apply anymore.

They are allowing Ridley Scott to finish the “Prometheus” trilogy which is in pre-production for the 3rd movie. No official world if they are using it for the reboot of “Alien”.
From what information I have come across last year.

Disney is planning on rebooting a shit load of 20th Century Fox franchises and one shot movies and creating them into franchises. Also creating new “universe’s” with a lot of shit they now own.

Disney owns the “Planet of the Apes”. So new movies and series will be coming.

Teenage Mutant Turtles, Power Rangers they own.

Disney owns the “Diehard” movies.

Disney owns the “Independence Day” franchise.

Disney owns “The Omen” and “Exorcist” franchises.

Some films that might become franchises that Disney owns are “Buckaroo Banzai”, “Alien Nation”, “Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea”, “The Last Man on Earth”.

We may also get some new “Dracula” and “Werewolf” films that Disney now owns thru FOX.

The Mouse over time is gonna be dropping a lot of shit.

Get yourself ready!
We shall see. Disney just has an awful track record so fans don't trust them no more. True fans don't want them touching shit these days. And if Disney wants that China money, they(and others) already been told to cut the fuckery.
But this isn't a Disney reboot. This movie was already done before Disney bought fox. That's why it's say 20th Century instead of Disney or Buena Vista. Disney is just putting out all the movies that fox had already did...

MCU has basically said fuck China. I suspect other movie companies to follow suit. They split like half or China gets more anyways. I don't think they think they need China. It will be fascinating how this plays out...

Yeah, I'm really curious to see how this will play out. That Top Gun inclusion of the ROC flag I believe will lead to a domino effect. You'll probably have studios on both sides of the issue with some flouting China and others catering to them.

Not that it matters much now but did Fox reboot the franchise? The last Predator was incredibly bad and I was hoping it would go in a new direction.

You know it definitely will be fascinating but I think these studios see MCU and others saying fuck you so I bet others will follow suit. I would say that China might cave but hell they are weird and crazy over there. Their government is nuts also so they might say fuck you as well. America really could break China in half but these corporations are greedy fucks...

I'm not sure if fox reboot it or not because they have come our with several different Predator movies; so I don't know what's going on :giggle: I just find it funny that cats were blaming Disney for the woman lead and it has nothing to do with them...

Man, sometimes I get the impression some these dudes want to live in China. They'd be over there with a state-of-the-art sex robot talking about how "woke" the West has become. :roflmao:

Well, I'm more referring to when China basically told them to chill with the LGBTQ and ridiculous girl power shit. They specifically referenced hollywood now making male characters weak.

We all know China been on censoring shit. But this was the first time Hollywood was called out by people other than hardcore fans of IPs that have been getting fucked up.

As usual, I've seen SOME on BGOL take up opposite positions simply because the narrative on people who complain about the fuckery is that they are incels. Which is code for white males. Now if these cats want to see transgender wonder woman, men makeout scenes, and male characters they been waiting to see made to be afterthoughts, that's on them. I'm from the 80s where we had strong female characters without all this fuckery.

When it's hard to find a strong, straight black male presence in films/shows, these cats better not wonder how we got there. Shit rolls downhill.

Yeah, we have yet to see how all this will play out. It will be interesting.

I seen a trend in comics, shows, and movies when shit bombs because they fucked with IP that they blame incels or some shit. It's just really uncreative fucks taking over IPs and pushing their bullshit. We see how comics are getting killed by magna yet they keep doubling down on dumb shit.

Right now. Movies are lucky folks coming off the plague and really just want to get out. Some folks just now getting back to normal. Man, I just want to be entertained. If this predator is good, it's good. But fuck Disney forever for fucking up Star Wars.

That's exactly what I'm talking about with cultural differences. China wants films to look like they did in the 80s (except for the anti-commie stuff) and that's just not going to happen. The trend in the West is for diversity (including LGBTQ) and empowered female roles. There will still be the occasional Indiana Jones style movie but that won't be the majority.

As for how Black men are portrayed -- heroic, criminal, masculine, effeminate, etc -- China couldn't give less of a fuck. The Chinese don't like Black people as a culture. There was actually a Tianamen Square-level riot in China in the 80s because of all of the Black African students studying there. If you want to see more positive, heroic, masculine Black male characters, you have to support more Black film makers instead of complaining about Disney -- which, BTW, has shown a number of heroic, masculine, straight Black male characters ( T'Chala, Fury, Falcon, Rhodey, Korath, etc).

I'll just say this about Disney specifically and leave it at that -- I don't like large corporations generally and that goes for Disney in particular. They're greedy and have undue influence over copyright laws in the US. That said, their product has been top-notch. I can't speak on Star Wars because I've never been a fan even as a kid but I've been a fan of Marvel all of my life. Disney has handled Marvel IP much better than any other company has before. Marvel films used to be hit-or-miss with more misses than hits. For every good one like Spider-Man 2 of the Tobey Maguire era, there were like three stinkers. Disney changed all of of that and has made Marvel worth watching. Let's see if they can keep it up though.

Thats possible.

There's no wait and see lol. Any movie that Disney bought from fox, it's say 20th Century instead of 20th century fox. If it was an original Disney movie it would say Disney or Buena Vista. Just like the Bob Burger Movie or Free Guy etc. Disney just bought the rights to the movies. Guys thinking Disney put a female lead in the movie when the movie was already done is ridiculous. Buy hey most posters on here don't like women anyways...

Not really on the highlighted part.

Disney updated episodes 1 to 6 with the new intro, not the classic “20th Century” intro. They are slowly doing it on all 20th Century projects.

You can see the new intro on current Blu-Ray and on Disney+.

I recently brought the new Blu-Rat set of episodes 1 thru 9 and they removed 20th century and have the new Star Wars intro with the helmets scrolling thru.

Disney bought Lucasfilm thats not 20th century fox; big difference; lucasfilms was being distributed by 20th century fox; all of their movies that were under 20th century fox, they all transferred to Disney with the purchase; every movie since then thats has come out, has come out under 20th century studios; Free Guy, Bob Burger, etc etc; those movies were already done; this Predator new movie is the same way; Disney didnt change nor add the lead woman; so again I dont know why people are complaining about Disney rebooting a series that they aint rebooting :giggle:

Even if they were, that shit needed a reboot. The franchise is stale and running out of ideas. They should've stuck with the Predators plot of being stranded on game preserve planet. That last movie was ass.

'Alien' Series to Follow Tone of the Franchise's First Two Films

The series will be helmed by Noah Hawley.

BY KEVIN MCCALL
PUBLISHED AUG 05, 2022

Following the recent report of the show's scripts being complete, FX CEO John Landgraf has offered more insight into what fans can expect from the upcoming series based on the Alien franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series, which currently has Fargo creator Noah Hawley attached to helm, is set to take place on Earth in the near future. Landgraf also promises that the series will offer its own original spin with the show deviating from the franchise's previously established Weylan-Yutani corporation and instead focusing on a new shady company for the franchise. Despite that, Landgraf promises the series will return to the franchise's original roots.

“I’m a big fan of Alien and Aliens, and I remember watching both of them in the theater and how shockingly original and surprising each of them was in its own way,” Landgraf said of the upcoming series. The executive further added, “And so, similar to his approach to Fargo, Noah decided not to take Ripley or any character from Alien — except perhaps the xenomorph itself — but go back and figure out what made the franchise so great and so durable in the first place and see if he could find an experience that felt like walking into a theater and seeing one of those first two movies, where you get caught off-guard. That’s all I can say at this point, though.”

While Landgraf didn't offer any specific plot details, the promise of the series potentially returning to the original roots of the franchise is enough to get fans excited about the upcoming project after the divisive response of recent films such as Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. With a talented showrunner attached to the project, the Alien series is shaping up to be a potentially exciting and terrifying show for audiences to look out for when it debuts on streaming.

The first Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, released in 1979 and became an instant box office and critical success due to the film's suspense bolstered by its unique and creative alien design. The film's sequel, Aliens, directed by James Cameron released in 1986 to similar acclaim and brought more action to the series and added to the lore by introducing the Alien Queen which has remained a staple to the franchise. Alongside the series by Hawley, a new film is also in development with Fede Álvarez attached to direct. Now with a new series on the way, which is expected to begin production next year, fans of the franchise can soon return to the terror that showed audiences that in space, no one can hear you scream.

Due to the show's status in development, no release date has been set yet. The untitled Alien series will debut on Hulu when it eventually releases.

Isabela Merced joins the new Alien film, Alien: Romulus

Another casting announcement has been revealed as the new Alien film continues its production.

Posted by Dan Cooper | Mar 3, 2023 |

Having taken a while to make up its mind regarding the cinematic future of the Alien franchise, Disney is now pushing forwards full steam ahead with a new film in the saga, that is said not to be connected to its predecessors. Oh, and we might want to reappraise that term ‘cinematic future’ as well.

Whilst the film is being helmed by Fede Alvarez who made a great-looking self-contained horror flick in the form of 2016’s Don’t Breathe, the new Alien movie likely won’t see the inside of a cinema. Instead, it will come straight to Disney+ here in the UK.

Although we’ve known about Noah Hawley’s planned TV series for what seems like a very long time, we learned around a year ago that Alvarez would be directing the first Alien film under Disney’s 20th Century Studios banner. We also know that Cailee Spaeny is starring in the film, taking on the role of a female lead. Spaeny is the star of Sofia Coppola’s upcoming Elvis & Priscilla.

Apparently, the film is going under the working title of Alien: Romulus and according to the Film & Television Industry Alliance production list, began shooting in Budapest, Hungary on February 6th. Now we’ve got some more casting news too: Isabela Merced has joined the project. Merced has featured in 20th Century Studios’ Romeo & Juliet spin-off, Rosaline as well as starring in the recent Father Of The Bride remake. She’s great in Instant Family, too.
