Predator: Killer of Killers
2025
8/10
I watched this new flick this afternoon at home.
It’s an animated anthology film based around 3 stories depicting “The Predator” early arrivals on Earth before the classic Schwarzenegger film that started the franchise in 1987.
The first story takes place during the Viking era in Northern Europe. The Predator introduced is like the Incredible Hulk. He is barely covered in clothing and uses just one unique prosthetic weapon mounded to his right forearm. This story has a shit load of graphic violence for an animated sequence that surprised me.
The 2nd story takes place in feudal Japan. It has a well done fight sequence between a Ninja/Samurai. The Predator in this one is slim/agile, heavily armored and has a large variety of weapons. Some are familiar from past projects with different capabilities.
The 3rd story takes place during WW2 in the Atlantic. The Predator in this part operates out of spaceship that has a variety of weapons to engage with WW2 fighter planes.
The film ends connecting the 3 prior stories together. We get some insight on what looks like the Predators home world or an associated planet they own.
The film also introduces a sub-plot into the franchise involving time/space. It also connects the film “Prey”, if you haven’t seen that one, you will definitely need to watch that one as the franchise proceeds.
I went into this not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s full of action and minimal
I looked into this film and and it is a prequel to the upcoming “Predator: Badlands”. So if you plan on watching that, you gonna have to watch this film and “Prey”.
I’m definitely looking forward to what Disney has planned for the franchise.
