ANY HELP or Suggestions? Any other ladies have this problem before?

You have to exercise your core. Abs, squats, push ups and running on a treadmill or track. Burn the fat and calories. Also sports like tennis, racketball, etc. that keep you moving will help.

Sent from your wife's Droid.

Well I did use to kick box for a sport....Until...I finally got kicked in the face...:hmm:

Hmmmmm

Yeah... you're supposed to block the kicks...

But seriously try another sport if kick boxing's not for you..
Otherwise it's has to be some sort of circuit training....

Ahhhh I do like TENNIS!!! And maybe just maybe...I can start running! Thanks!

What you should be doing is not look at the scale all the time. Keep doing what you are doing. Drink lots of water and your body will do the rest. It won't happen overnight.

As for the kickboxing you should get back into it  its a great workout.

Peace

I know...I do keep looking at the scale-like every day! Ok ok ok....And for the water....I will do better! I wonder how many bottle waters I should drink daily?

You hit a plateau, stretch, then warm up for 10 min, start with core exercises and then do your workout. Try some thing like swimming or like was mentioned tennis is great, those two will help to elongate your muscles and tone, great cardio...

THANKS GYH!! I will try stretching...Honestly I never stretch...I just take off walking!
Oh and that looks like me in your profile pic! It is hot! Who is the artist, I want that piece!

seriously..walking is not exercise, it is a mode of transportation.

(short rant) I drive past the local middle school and I see all these obese black people, WALKING...you must move, sweat, heart rate must be elevated.

Running, cycling, swimming (which is a GREAT total body workout)..whatever you do, it must be VIGOROUS!!

You said you tried kickboxing, try it some more. If your in Atlanta area, I highly recommend the kickboxing fitness classes at Knucklup. If your not in Atlanta, find something around you that does a similar class. You do not have to spar with anyone to do kickboxing cardio, so you should not be getting kicked in the face.

Good luck

Keep at the workouts an add a little something extra to your workout. Skiping rope maybe. Like lady Scorpio said drink lots of water I suggest a gallon a day.

As for your walk are you strolling along or is it a power walk? Anyway your body has adjusted to your routine so now you need to change a few things. Whatever you do keep at it.

Congratulations on the 10 pound loss.

BTW stay away from hot chocolate icing. :D

You can walk....you just cant stroll around. If you are going to walk find very hilly areas to do that. You definitely do have to raise you heart rate though! A little bit of weight training would help too!

I also recommend salsa dancing as well. You can get a good workout doing that as well. And its fun!

True. Strolling is still beneficial for reducing stress but not very when it comes to kicking off more weight loss. I love the idea of a dance class. I've been taking belly dancing for fun and its been great for increasing mobility in my core and its a nice cardio. It teaches good posture too.

Kickboxing will definitely do it Onyx and make sure extra calories haven't crept back in your diet.

Interesting-I just told my boyfriend that I was about to start back taking African dance class again. I stopped around September or October....Yep THANKS!

Congrats Onyx!

I wish I could contribute but I agree with most of what is said. Sometimes we plateau and we gotta change something a little extra. .

Get back with the dancing!

It sounds like you gained muscle in replace of the 10 pounds, be patient and monitor breads, rice, starches and you should be okay.

Thanks Mel!!

Hmmmmm You may be right! My legs do seem more-tight. Thanks PC!

PC I have to disagree. Because muscle burns fat if Onyx had gained the 10 lbs of muscle, she would be losing weight even faster. In fact 10 lbs of muscle will burn calories even when your at rest.

I do agree with you on the starches. They actually need to eliminated.

This is one reason why it takes more than cardio workouts. To lose weight you need a balance of cardio, resistance (weight training) and diet.

you are doing the same amount of exercise your muscles is use to it. You have to increase the amount of load you put on your muscles. Instead of just a routine 3miles you should try to add miles to every week. try 3 1/2 one week, 4 the next 4 1/2 the next or add another calorie burning exercise. You pobably don't fell that 3 miles now when you do it.

Congrats! I've been hearing a lot about interval training as a way to kick up the metablolism. Quick burst of full out enery followed by short rest period like a run walk combo

Major props to Megatron X (from the main board) for posting this video. This woman should be an inspiration to us all. After seeing this I'm more focused on my goal.

dang....cutting out all startches??? ya'll sure?

Yes! Stay away from the potato chips, potato salad, rice, breads (except whole grain) cake, pastas, and dairy (that's cheese too) because they all turn to sugar once in your system.

If your serious about losing weight your looking at a lifestyle change as far as eating. If you eat properly you can eat 6 times a day and lose weight.

You want to increase your protein intake. You want 1 gram of protein per pound you weigh. (BTW that's whey protein ) Why? Because protein helps burn fat. I also recommend vitamins and a protein supplement. Go to a GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and speak with someone there. You also want your meals to be high in protein. Chicken breast, steak, fish, eggs minus the yoke.

Be careful with the Weight Watcher and Healthy Choice type meals, they are loaded with sodium.

I guarantee you will never be hungry and the weight will start coming off again. Good Luck. :D

Here's a good place to purchase what you need. http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/

I just did 3 1/2 miles running and walking w/ my little one..I cant feel my legs and feet-I will be back later on-I have a question for everyone about cutting out starches. I mean really cheese is a starch? Isnt it a dairy???

Cheese is mostly fat and protein. It does have naturally occuring milk sugar in it (lactose), like fruits have fructose. It's usually classed in dietetic circles as dairy and it's portion size is closer to a fat serving.Mind you that is real cheese. I have no clue what is in processed cheese food because I don't eat that shit. I do remember having Velveeta as a kid and it did taste sweet so who know what they add in there. A real, natural cheese is going to be highest in fat and protein.

Try carb cycling rather than eliminating starches entirely. For most people eliminating starches forever is tough. You want to develop eating habits you can actually sustain unless you are crash dieting for an event. Eliminating starches will help you shed water weight very fast.

Onyx my comment about cheese is because of its fatty content. With the exception of eggs cheese is usually consumed with some type of starch like crackers or bread.

Congratulations on that 3.5 that's major. :bravo:

But do find yourself a good supplement. As you continue your quest you want to ensure your loss in weight is fat not muscle. This is very important especially for women.

Izzy's suggestion on carb cycling is an excellent idea.

This is a really valid point. I fell in love with this gourmet goat cheese from Whole Foods and noticed I started buying crackers. It was just such a natural pairing I didn't think about it until I realized how many calories were in a serving of crackers. Crackers basically taste like nothing so they really weren't worth the calories.

Here's some info on carb cycling. Read parts one and two.

Great info Izzy thanks. This plan should work wonders along with several hours of cardio and exercise per week.

My problem with this plan is the shredded wheat. :puke: Looking for a possible alternative. One thing is certain, you will be stinky. :D

I use it all the time if my weight starts to climb and in general I eat like this (more or less strict depending). It's about to get warm so I'm stricter than December. I think the plan actually has a lot of flexibility based on what you enjoy eating and what your goals are. It's easiest for me to think in terms of serving sizes of non-leafy green starches sense that's what I'm most familiar with. I still eat pasta and bread, but I keep it to half a cup on a super low day or 1 serving. So for me it's just an easy way to control portions.

If you want to go from 12- 6% bodyfat that is a different story and requires you to be much more strict in how you define no, low, and high carb days. Either way I've found it's a good "middle of the road" approach vs. Strict low carbing that is difficult to maintain. Plus it really forces you to fill up on leafy greens. That's a good thing (unless you are on blood thinners).

Izayoi, thanks for keeping the thread alive with great advice & bodybuilding.com is a great resource...
