Thing is melo has until june 30 of 2011 to sign the deal.
And as I said the new nuggets gm has said he won't trade melo for scraps if he even trades him at all. He basically said we are fucked one way or another. 3 weeks ago he said he would be willing to let melo walk off and be the lowest paid superstar in the nba withthe new cba.

I don't think the deal gets done too, but this gm is in hius own world. Billups is at the tail end of his career. He can't keep up with quicker guards even though he is an upgrade from the Heat's points. His offense is down considerably. He makes a lot of money. He is no longer an all-star yet he makes that loot. He is only under contract for one year and the second year is a team option.
I don't see this guy lasting long as a gm because he has to realize that he is going to have to work with other teams.
He is still available. There isn't anything official. Have you seen him on the Rockets bench or in a uniform.

Dampier would solve more problems. arguably D Wade should be converted into primary ballhandler and guard guys like Rose and Rondo. The notion that the Nuggets, who'll be rebuilding when Melo leaves, will take on Bosh's 100 millon dollar contract and help you win a championship by giving the Heat two of their best players is laughable. Denver only does this deal to get bosh contract doesn't work to get billups and nene for bosh. Doesn't add up.

That combines to nearly 25 million off the books. That's not counting the money they saved if they buy out Billups 14 million contract for 3.7 million.
The Nuggets GM let it be known he is not looking for expiring contracts he has seven of them.
