HBO's True Detective Premiers tonight

The 1st time he talks to his eventual wife in the classroom there's a shot where you see the chalkboard and her shadow as she's telling him something

Next you hear her talk about her time out west
Next her pretending to be people
Next her lying to the cop for information
His wife literally has been shady the entire time

Her actions are too meticulous. The fact her own husband don't trust her is telling

:eek2: this shit is going by too fast. Normally, especially with network TV, seasons drag on way too long. Shit just meanders while producers try to find away to stretch 7-8 episodes of material into 20. This is one of the few shows on that I think actually deserves 20-24 episodes.

The entire world is just so fully realized, I don't want it to end, especially with this anthology format.

20 would be too long for this show it would end up feeling like those shows that drag on too long.

If they could get 10-12 that would be just right.

But 8 is enough.

I'm expecting to see some big shit going down these next few episodes. :scared:

Yea man.

And I just gotta say Mr. Ali is a cool dude. I met him a few years back at my old job and I was like “yo, you look familiar aren’t you an actor?”
This was the time his season of Luke Cage had come out but i couldn’t remember his name and he just said “lol yea I am” then I asked him to name something I’d seen him in and he was like “ahh man you gonna make me sound like a jerk lol” real cool down to earth cat. Even showed love on IG. That old man scene was some of the most powerful acting I’ve seen. They both did great

Think I figured out what he did. The white girl handed him the photo of the cop that went missing and he didn't remember. When the ghosts of vienam were in the room there was a white man in there too. I think he killed that cop. I think he had to kill him because him or his partner killed the girls dad. See how they was lookin at him when they listened to her phone call?

I think he or his partner killed the dad and they also had to deal with that cop and he wound up killing him. That's why dourf character so pissed.

That old men scene felt natural asf some of the best acting on tv in a while. Great dialogue from both characters. I expect Ali and Dorff to be nominated for best acting.

I bet that’s what it is. :scared:

So you think after all these years he finally figures it out now they will both realize how wrong they were.

Man, I believe that investigative reporter has sum'n to do with sum'n too.
The reporter is Julie Parcells.

Just bullshitting, lol.

IDK...just guessin. I figure Ali killed the officer cuz the ghost was in his room. Dourf might've killed the girls father...the way they were lookin at him in the room on the phone...lol. I'm like damn they goin off that bitch, she could be the fuckin kidnapper just playin wit they asses. I think Dourf character pissed because they were keepin that secret and ole boy never talked to him again. I think Dourf helped him cover up the murder of that cop tho.

We'll see....somethin like that I think.

Your on to something.

I do think Dorff probably killed the dad because of how he acted about the phone call. I don’t think Hays believes he did it tho. Then he ask Hays to help him cover it up.

Hays probably gets into with the other detective on the case for botching the investigation maybe he ends up killing him then turns around and ask Dorff for the same favor in covering it up.

Maybe those bodies are what they left in the woods.

:scared:

Yeah something like that but the way dourf said on the porch "Like killing a man?!...I think dourf covered for him...could be wrong but the white man in the room with the ghosts makes me think Hayes killed him. It's gotta be something along those lines or what you describing as well because I think they in it together but dourf doesn't know hayes lost memory so he's pissed about hayes not ever reaching out after whateva they did those years back. The daughter of Hayes might know some shit too.

He trusts her
He just doesn't think she respects his work the way it should be

She's a "tourist"
The case is for thrills
While it's literally haunting him

The way he reacted when he found out she told the white detective she was divorced just came off as trust issues beyond just the work aspect.

And y'all gonna make me stopping reading this thread because y'all on to something and I'm not trying spoil the suspense lol

I’ll be back when the season is over because I want to preserve the mysteries ....

But this season is fan-fucking-tastic

Emmy’s are going to be thrown out left and right especially for Stephen Doff.. this is the best work that he has ever done. Like this is his game changer moment.

I'm doing my best to comment and not solve the case cause it's funner that way

Purple is insecure man
He's waiting for the other shoe to drop
His wife is too good for him he never thought he'd have a family
So when she says she's divorced he isn't thinking she's just getting information he's thinking damn she used to pretend she was someone else plus I fuck up all the time did I finally ruin this?

When pressed on whether he thought she cheated he said no cause in his heart of hearts he knew the real issue

I normally hate long television series. My favorite series these days chime in right around that 10-12 ep. mark, but there are a lot of story threads hanging out there to be sown up in three episodes and reach a satisfying conclusion. The first 5 have felt like an introduction, like the first act. And they don't bring the same cast back so this last three is it.

Man just feels guilt for his pass life

And rightfully feels he dont deserve a good life.

Takin a life does that to you, guilt eats you up

I wonder if the sins of the father shall meet the son shit will happen

One of da hardest scenes of any TV show...ever. They had da projects on fire.
I used to think Matthew McConaughey was just a pretty motherfuker they put in front of a camera because he was a pretty motherfuker. The motherfuker is a much better actor than he was when he started and a much better actor then most people give him credit for. I know he won an Oscar, but true detective showed me how well-rounded he is

Killed the dad....man I don t know about that....

Why kill the dad...those two arent about revenge. Although it would bring some forshadowing from the Fox and the rat scene in the beginning when he stopped him from shooting the Fox

Shit is definitely on point brotha. Got me wishing I could binge watch and shit
I'm binge-watching this shit right now. I just started the fourth episode. I'm glad that I can go back to the date where you guys were talking about this and not have to get caught up with any spoilers.

This show is really good and I don't haven't figured out who did it yet, and I'm not really trying to. I only try to figure out the story of shows I watch when the writing is bad. The writing on this show is really good.

Yeah I could be wrong about that but the way they were lookin at him listen to that phone call...Shit...they took a guy out to a barn and beat his ass just for kicks tryin to get info. Maybe they didn't kill the dad but the ghost of the white man in his room makes me think hayes killed that cop back in 90 and he can't remember. Could also be wrong about that and the white ghost wind up being the dead uncle of the kids they find in the quarry. Just gotta wait and see....

True Detective is what TV looks like when it’s done right. So many other shows and networks could learn from it. Props to the 6-13 episode seasons of shows that aren’t watered down programming like many other shows on
basic cable, or the 20-24 episode dramas like others have said. HBO,
Showtime, Cinemax, FX, FXX, Showcase & AMC do it right. Leave you wanting more!

Really, dude? The pause was implied. I didn't think he was a pretty motherfucker, but folks like him, Scott Eastwood, Liam Hemsworth, Jared Padalecki came up when I googled pretty boy motherfuckers who can't act.

Matthew McConaughey has grown into his talent and removed himself from this list, but initially, that's what he was. The rest of these guys...they staying on this list, cuz they all are terrible

Noooooooo, right when Indian vet was bout to make cac :gun01:bleed it cuts off :crying:

Claymore and nade traps, love it

Don’t fuck with a trained vet, Micah comes to mind.

Fuck that white trash whore, where do they find such ugly cac for tv lol
You ain't even motherfucking lying. Do not fuck with a war-trained veteran.

In real life, the mother fucker I would be most scared of is EJ Bradford Sr. That is an ex-Marine, and they killed his kid and he was unarmed (EJ Bradford Jr.). I know this ain't the thread for it, but when I saw that Indian prepare for war, I saw the same declaration of war and that Man's eyes in a recent interview

But back to true detective, that Indian was not playing around. He talked to those kids on purpose because he was not going to be a victim. Not to those CACs or anyone.

Man when you take souls( energy) before its expiration date its gonna stay with you till you expire

I love this character, i wish i was in nam.
Be glad you weren't in Nam, brother. Black people had far more to worry about than the Vietcong. Racist white boys with throw live grenades in the black soldiers tents. That's just one story I heard about.

The PTSD from actually seeing death and looking into it for countless days, sometimes being inches away.

One story was told to me by an old Marine Corps veteran I worked with. Most veterans who have actually seen combat don't speak of combat, and if you're lucky enough to have one tell you a story about a combat situation, just shut up and listen because at that moment they just need to get it out, expell it as it were.

'We'd been traipsing through the woods for well over an hour. We were all dead dog tired, and scared shitless at the same time. But tired.

Finally, sergeant call for us to take a break, and after we sent scouts around to ensure the temporary camp was secure, then we took 15.

I sat down and broke open some rations maybe about a foot away from another man, a White dude, but we were cool.

Halfway to me eating, he leaned over on me. I shruggeds him off and barked at him, "Man, what the fuck are you doing man getting fuck off me."

But when he hit the ground that sound was hollow. It echoed. Shit, I can still hear it.

He just fell, man.

I reached over, but I already knew. He was shot in the head, dead center. I didn't hear a shot. No one did.

We went on instant alert. That whole detachment. Turned over ever leaf within a half a mile radius plus and didn't find nary a trace.

A fucking sniper.

We were sitting a foot apart, so... From a sniper position that was half inch...maybe less. It could have been me, Easy. Shit, that sumbitch could have taken both of us out, but I'm living and he's not.

You know how that fucks you up in the head? Be tired as fuck but scared to take a break from then on out?'

I joined the Navy and nothing made me feel better about my decision than hearing stories like this. I haven't seen combat and I'm glad I haven't

Said I did you a favor
That little double tap was a courtesy I don't miss unless I want to

When you see things unfold it's crazy

In the 1st episode we see him in the trash man house holding the picture of him
Then it goes to future old self and he has to stop the pain is too much when talking about it and holding the picture
It seems weird at the time
But then you fast forward to last episode and you see him killing him then in the 90s holding his water and then you understand why in the 1st episode that was a part he had to stop and finish for the day
It's like the chief new who he was. The chief knew he was behind him. The chief chose him to carry his water from the jump. From that shot he didn't take he chose him then...but he wasn't letting none of those CACs get him. No sir

It's like hearing someone brag about combat. You can tell they never been in it, because if you had been in it, you ain't bragging about it

Her laissez-faire attitude towards something he takes so seriously is unsettling, because it's tearing him apart piece by piece
