On paper, do you look at the Warriors and say "got-damn!"

Like when Lebron went to the Heat and you saw Lebron, Wade, Bosh, and Allen in the starting line up, that's stacked.. multiple hall of famers with two of them being in their prime.

On paper, when you look up and down the warriors squad, it doesn't jump off the screen. All the pieces work together, but if you put these guys on other teams, are they better players on other teams? I'm not sure about that.

It's starting to get that way. I know it's viewed in a non-stacked way, but look at that team. They were a 50 win squad before Kerr got there & perhaps it's because it was done organically and they hit in the draft that it isn't viewed as stacked, but on the court...with two different coaches & styles, they've gotten it done. It's hard to say a team with three all stars not stacked and these are legitimate stars.

If Magic was so great on Defense, how come he never made any all defense teams?

From the looks of it, Magic's greatest defensive achievements were being defensive steals leader twice in the league. Kinda like how Curry lead the league in steals this year.

Exactly. That's really the only bad thing you could say about Magic (besides his struggles from outside (shooting) during the first half of his career).

He was serviceable.. and depending on the matchup he was a defensive liability.

Lakers wanted to run on offense and a slow half court game on defense where Magic was the off the ball defender. You wanted Scott and Coop locking out the wings and just wanted Magic to be on a bigger player so he could board or get the quick outlet pass.

I think Greene is under-rated... but I really think it's all about Curry and Greene. Klay can ball...no doubt about it.. but I still feel like he's a system player to a certain extent.

this is the most valuable player of the whole league not the team lebron. by his account then lets throw in james harden, demarcus cousins and dirk.they're teams would be straight garbage without them them

I need to see him consistently lock down opponents, make more steals, assists and add more finesse to his game in order for me to consider him a candidate for GOAT status. Being a great scorer is good for entertainment purposes and I don't want to downplay his accomplishments, but I just can't see him surpassing LeBron, let alone Jordan , Magic and even Mamba. In time, maybe I will see more. But, for now, he is a excellent shooter which is a lil one dimensional to be in the discussion among the all time greats. I wanna see what happens 5 years from now and see how his overall game evolves.

Then honestly you need to actually watch a game and not just the highlights he facilitates the entire offense directly and indirectly you'll say draymond brings it up. Yup they run curry off something to one side the entire defense shifts with him nobody watches Thompson or Bogut in the lane or Barnes and they get an easy shot because of it.

Is that not impacting the game?

He's also a willing passer. Klay Thompson can drop 30 in a quarter while steph is on the court because steph won't force a single shot and will make sure klay gets the ball as long as he's on fire
He just literally did that last night he passed up on no less than 10 shots he could take in order to keep feeding klay thompson...you know...like a pg

They werent before they came to gsw thats the entire point.
Nobody wanted Livingston nobody wanted to kick the tires he said it himself he was being cut by 20 win teams.
Iggy came from Philly they were done with him he had years and years as a starter and we saw what he did. It looks better because that 12 points is big off the bench but your starting 3 can't average 12 points and 4 assists.....even with more minutes what was his max in the nba as the man 18ppg?

Iggy would start for 4 of the 5 teams in our division & we wanted him, but he went there. He was solid on a good Denver team & had a good playoff run against yall before joining the squad.

He's been hurt this year and playoffs. And he's fragile. He's doing great. He needs to keep doing it. All it takes is a major injury to all go away. Jordan got six rings all defense teams, more MVP's, sat out two years and came back on a three peat. That's nuts. That's very hard to live up to
So you don't remember Jordan breaking his foot when he was avg 37 that season?

, but I just can't see him surpassing LeBron, let alone Jordan , Magic and even Mamba. .

I need to rephase this again. I'm not saying he's going to PASS them. I'm saying what would he need to do be on their level. I think the GOAT shit needs to die. When I'm saying "goat status" I'm talking about being one of the greatest players of all time.

You notice everyone on that list is 6 foot 6 and smaller. By size along, they're able to do things defensively that a little player can't do...especially a little guy that's rail thin and can't really jump.

So you mentioned become a better defender..I'm with it. I think he can become a better defender too

They're the Nash & Marion/Stat of this version of the offense. Klay is legit, but I see your point. He reminds me a lot of Joe Johnson in PHX before Stack broke his orbital bone that playoff series. I think he'd go somewhere & be the guy, but never quite get it done & leave people disappointed.

Keyword is solid. That describes pretty much the entire team outside the 3.
That's what I'm saying. The pieces just work they put together a SOLID team and added a transcendent super star.

but its hard to sit here & say a team with that many pieces that fit perfectly isn't stacked. And you still have a big 3 that's outta control and can give you 60-80 points when needed. That's pretty fucking stacked. I'll say loaded with talent vs stacked.

Klay can get those shots because curry is on the court green has the space to do whatever he needs to do because curry is on the floor.

See you start that underselling stuff too.
.
An amazing shooter and that's it right? That's all he does well? Lol

Klay was putting up numbers against the Blazers before Curry got back. Was Curry creating space by yelling from the bench? I'm not underselling Curry, but Lebron has been dominating for over 10 years. Lebron can control the game on so many levels. Like I said, he led a championship team in points, rebounds, and assists. He took scrubs to the finals. Some -- not just Clevelanders -- were arguing for him to be the finals MVP just last June.

It's funny. Everyone went like :eek2: when Curry went down. That shit soon became :eek2: "Damn, they can rest him until they face the Spurs. " I don't think that could be said about any team Lebron was on.

I think Lebron was alluding to this yesterday. So the question is will he be regulated to being the greatest shooter of all time?

That's fucked up because the kid is more than a shooter and he's affecting the game that don't even show up on the stat sheet example the other night when he came into the game.. He's affecting the game how the greats affected the game he's just doing it differently

Real basketball heads see what's going on.. People who don't follow basketball will only call him a shooter

At the rate he is going in his career so far, he may very well be the best or at least nominated for consideration, but he just need more time to solidify his status as the greatest. Tenure matters in sports just like in the work world.

I ask you, should Steph be crowned the greatest shooter in the NBA, how would that measure against those who had a better overall game? Where will he fare amongst the rest of the NBA greats on the all time list? For me, a glorified one trick pony is still a one trick pony at the end of the day which comes with a glass ceiling.

On pure shooting? Ask who's better than Steph just strictly ass a shooter?

Because stacked is talent
Stacked is independent of each other they'd all shine and they wouldn't that's the difference.

Steph would shine anywhere maybe even green
Klay Thompson can get away with not being able to dribble left to right or toss out 3 assists in a game as a 2 guard and still be considered one of the best in the game today because of steph and green.

You need to start relegating gene to clown status

Does anyone consider his size when making a decision? Almost every contender for the G.O.A.T is substantially bigger/taller than Curry. I think more people would be be on board if he was more physically imposing. To me however, the fact that he is relatively undersized makes him stand out even more from the contenders. He makes shots over players that have him out-sized consistently. We have all seen Centers that come out to try and alter his effectiveness and it does nothing. That in itself is more impressive than Lebron, Wilt, Kareem, etc's freakish physical statures.

I'm not arguing length of time I'm not even arguing hes better than lebron
And kyrie and love put up numbers when lebron is out too right? See what I mean? Was lebron rebounding from the bench?

If curry sat out 4 games it would probably be 3-2 going back to Portland
Instead it was 4-1 and series over.

You don't have to diminish his real impact in favor of lebron his real impact without him even touching the ball is why hes on the level he actually does make the game easier without even touching the ball.

Those 2 are the only ones who make their team better on this level.

Cp3 is just behind them because he does need to have the ball in his hands for them to be successful

Curry and lebron just need to be on the court

That's the thing he wants bigger players to come out side so he could roast em

Curry is more versatile on the offensive side of the ball.. and his offense advantage is greater than Magics defensive advantages so... :hmm:

It is if you inject something into the argument that was based on height and nothing else.

Which is what you tried to do.

If Magic was so great on Defense, how come he never made any all defense teams?

From the looks of it, Magic's greatest defensive achievements were being defensive steals leader twice in the league. Kinda like how Curry lead the league in steals this year.

Allow me to direct your attention to the original post...

and defense can't keep him out of the argument in my opinion. Magic might have been more versatile because of his size, but he's certainly not worse on the defensive end in comparison to Magic and Magic is in the argument.

My responses have nothing to do with Curry's OFFENSE. :smh:

We can all agree that Curry is an offensive phenom.

I was addressing this part, in red.

Since the very first post... I have said that Magic is/was a BETTER DEFENSIVE PLAYER than Curry, at this same point in their careers.

They both led the leagues in steals.

However, Magic is one the few players in league history that has done it back-to-back. (And in his Rookie year )

Which means he came into the NBA raping the 'handles' and 'passes' of veterans.

And while he was leading the league in steals.. He was ALSO in the Top 10 or 12 in DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING.

While he was picking pockets and cutting off passing lanes... He was grabbing MORE rebounds than 80% of the Centers, Power Forwards & Small Forwards.

That's EVERYONE who is around his height, or much taller. :hmm:

Granted, he slowed down as the years &
Injuries caught up to him....

And it for this reason that I said he was a BETTER defensive player than Curry, after their first 5-6 seasons.

I never said anything about Magic needing to be on the NBA All-Defense Team to be considered a better defender than Curry.:smh:

Now add the fact that he COULD defend all 5 positions... puts him EVEN FURTHER out of the 'defense' discussion... when compared to Curry.

It's No contest. :hmm:

Leading the league in Steals for 2 years straight... COMBINED... with all the defensive rebounding... means that Magic played better 'd' overall.

- Whether you call it Help D...
- Weak-side D...
- Off-ball D...
- Team D...
- Passing lane D...
- Cherry picking D...
- Hustle D...
- Rebounding D....
- 'One and done' D...
- or whatever you like....

The numbers do not lie. :smh:

I wasn't comparing Magic to other 'lockdown 1-on-1' defenders. :smh: Just Curry.

If lockdown 1-on-1 defense is your SOLE 'benchmark'... Then there are more aspects to NBA defense you should probably consider.

Dude talking about Magic like he was the glove and shit! How many All Defensive teams did Magic make?!?! I don't EVER remember that Dude getting selected to an All Defensive team, but all of a sudden he's a shut own defender! Da Fuck?!?!?

My take on Magic is very simple... He was a defensive minus, which is not uncommon among point guards. He was pretty slow and guarded more forwards than he did point guards, which was intentional because he would get beaten off the dribble by most. He was solid as a team defender, played the passing lanes a lot and got a lot of steals. Overall I'd say his defence was not notable, either for being good or being bad.

Stop it with that other shit @grownazzblakman ... Please, you are killing me!

Lebron is more a complete player than Steph Curry. Lebron is more valuable to his team than Steph Curry is. That warriors are still a championship contender without Steph Curry, without Lebron James the Cavs are not a championship contender.

The numbers Steph put up this year are very impressive and I think it's probably the best numbers statistically ever in the league from a player if I'm not mistaken. That unanimous mvp award he won was just cherry on top. But there needs to be an asterisk on that and here's why below.

I gotta piggyback off of some of the older NBA veterans from back in the day when they say the league is watered down. The hand check rule implemented pretty much changed the game forever. As a defender in todays NBA game, your at distinct dis-advantage if your defending someone. The mere fact the you can't make any direct or indirect contact defending someone on the perimeter outside of 3 second key in order to not hinder or obstruct the opponent’s movement, speed, quickness, balance, rhythm etc as a defender your at a inherent dis-advantage. As a defender your only hope is for the player your guarding is to miss when he shoots or loses the ball by himself. Your at a dis-advantage no matter how you look at it.

The pistons bad boy era brand of basektball, even the early to mid 90's New York Knicks basketball (on/off the court) there is no way Steph Curry would be putting up those kind of videogame numbers up. There is just no way. He would be held in check on the offensive end of the ball.

Yours Truly.......Professor

Thats why I say Dude is passive aggressively throwing shade. When he won it, you would NEVER hear him say some shit like this but he sees Curry's star rising, and it's eating him up. For every article or highlight about him, there are 10 about Curry and it's eating LeBron up.... as it should by the way. You have to maintain a certain degree of arrogance to keep your competitive edge.

They put up numbers, but they don't win. The current-look Cavs are 4-14 without Lebron. Let's be honest: The Warriors would be much better than 4-14 without Curry. We just seen what they did against two playoff teams.

I'm not trying to take away from Curry. It's just that Lebron is team-transforming like Shaq. Lebron is the type that will lead your team in points, rebounds, and assists, and THEN guard the best threat on the other squad. Curry's up there. But damn a lot of cats(not you) trying to rush Lebron to the rocking chair.

Can folks at least wait to see who dominates this June? Maybe Green, Klay, Love, or Irving will be finals MVP. That will really give the NBA talking heads shit to talk about.

So a player should be discredited because another players team has bad management and a bad coach? The fact that people are writing novels to try to discredit this kid, totally supports the contention that he is the best player in the game right now. At no other time was there so much effort put into this type of nonsense....

So, I guess we should eliminate LeBrons MVP when he was with the Heat, because that team was so Stacked too right?!?!?!

You guys need to stop it... All this era stuff is irrelevant... Hes doing something in THIS era that no other player in THIS era has done The Detroit bad boys don't matter. He's eating up this league TODAY in a way LeBron, KD, Russell, Harden, etc. NONE of them has ever done and THATS where the comparison starts and ends...

When you start going back 20 years to try to discredit him, it speaks of his greatness because of how desperate it is to need to go back that far, because he's currently shitting on his real contemporaries...

Curry >>>>> than anyone in the league right now, and it's not even close...

It is what it is....
