To many/most of us, it's pointless nitpicking though; and nitpicking based upon logic that isn't even based on any defined timelines. Unless you can say Varys left on April 9th and magically got to the other side of the map by April 11th, it is pointless.

Jon and Davos just left Winterfell this past episode, and they'll probably get to Dragonstone next episode. That's a long way to travel in a day or two, but how do we know it's not a 20 day trip unless they explicitly say how many days it took? They usually don't, so we can assume a long trip took a long time. One of the only things that can be used to lock in times I'd say would be the growth of Gilly's baby. I have to go back to last season to see how big he was when they got to Sam's home compared to how big he is now. Since the baby isn't an important character, they could just replace one baby with another if they wanted to keep it at # months/years old for continuity (where they obviously can't do that with Arya and Bran, so they're gonna just be growing and looking older every season, no matter how much time is supposed to have passed).

I think this is actually a case where the book handled this differently which doesn't expose this plot hole. In the book, Danny was not part of Vary's plan. His plan B (after Visery's died) was using this super secret "Targaryen" he had been hiding from birth and coaching him up to be a king with other outcasts. As Vary's said in the show, he didn't expect Dany to do much but be used by her brother as an ends to a mean.

But since that sub plot never materialized in the show, I agree that it really doesn't make sense for Vary's to allow Dany to be assassinated since he would have been back to square one in terms of his overall objective.

yeah that's gonna be an interesting meet up. I don't think he'll kneel... he didn't even kneel for Stannis whom he and his dad both acknowledged as the rightful king. Hopefully he will (or more likely Davos will) get her to stfu and chill with the "I was born to rule" shit for a while so they can get down to business dealing with what's coming from the north as well as what they're about to get into in the south. Do hope that somehow they notice some dragon tendencies in him... maybe he accidentally touches something hot and doesn't get phased. I think back in season 1 at the wall when the wight attacked the Lord Commander, Jon grabbed his lantern by the hot part with his bare hand and threw it at the thing. Can't remember if he flinched... but that's the only time I can think of anything with him and fire/heat. Gotta hit youtube and check it again.


edit: hmm, when he grabbed the lantern, he did give a little yell of pain, so I wonder.....

reexamine the timeline-
Viserys was still alive when Varis sent the assassin... Danny was never his plan B on the show or the books until she started amassing an army
In the books the Dornish were ready to roll with Varis no matter if it was Danny or the secret Targaryen (still up in the air if he really is Targaryen)

I agreed with her about Jon not punishing the Umbers and Karstarks with that said,I also agree with Jon not doing it,because they need all the people they need to fight the White Walkers and Wights.

There is a reason,why the Vale is still at Winterfell,because Jon doesn't have the manpower to protect it.

Sansa knows all this yet wants to throw a god dayum fit on why Jon hasn't punished the Umbers and Karstarks

What Jon should of had one Umber and Karstark hostage,have them married of the houses that was loyal to the Starks or both.

Are you sure about that? Why would he send the assassin for Danny if Visery's was still alive and presumably the bigger threat. My memory is a little hazy on the exact timeline, but all the conversation in Kings Landing was around whether they still needed to kill the "little girl" who was no real threat at the time.

But my point was that in the book Vary's had a solid backup plan that made Danny (and Even Viserys) expendable Even then there's a line or two that indicates that Vary's warned Jorah about assassination attempts.

[Jorah to Dany] Daenerys, it was me who stopped you from drinking the wine.”
“Yes. And how was it you knew the wine was poisoned?”
“I… I but suspected… the caravan brought a letter from Varys, he warned me there would be attempts. He wanted you watched, yes, but not harmed.

The show doesnt even hint at the Dornish scheme to make a match with the surviving kids of the Mad king from the books, so It's still strange to me that Vary's on the show would be so indifferent about whether Dany lived or died. She was basically his best and only option for returning stability to Westeros.

Cersei is absolutely right in her perspective of Danny in the speech she gave last episode.

I'm sure about the timeline - and at the time Danny was a girl first and an unknown quantity 2nd. Varis had nothing in mind for her in books or TV - for TV that means he didn't have a plan b
The reason Robert decided to kill Danny was because she was pregnant and he feared the child of a Khal with a blood claim to the throne of the 7 kingdoms more than Viserys or Danny by themselves - to his mind it would be the motivation to get Dothraki to overcome their fear of the sea -
Also consider that for royalty a marriage isn't truly concrete until the queen gives birth to an heir -preferably male.
If Danny died childless there would be no army for Viserys

As for Littlefinger - in the books he was merely reporting to Ned the thinking of Robert and the small council

Tywin Tyrion Varis Little Finger The Martells and Olena characters on TV are all but pale shadows compared to the depth of strategy preparation and mental games employed in the books

All I know is she better not dragon her way to the championship. I said that seasons ago. That'd be bullshit. I want boots on the ground, strategies, treachery, misdirection, whatever, but hand to hand combat to determine the throne. If I don't see those dragons again, I'll be cool with it. That's cheating.

People talking about the greatest show ever. Have at it. But there are some laboring parts/ periods in this series. Dead times. That whole magical, mystery house was wack. When those dragons were smaller.

It's good to see it all come together though. Been a solid season so far.:cool:
