I think Ned is the true hero of the series. Not only did he die to protect his family, he also literally chose to lie to his own WIFE to protect his nephew, choosing to rather endure her shame and let her believe something that would make her hate him more the rest of her life to protect his nephew -- "the last Targaryen" (who was being protected from Ned's best friend Robert) as well as someone who is the son of the heir of the Iron Throne. Protecting Jon when he did ended up having world-saving results and for all of these reasons I think Ned should be considered the greatest hero in the story. His sacrifice literally led to the events that secured the fate of the entire world, well, Westeros anyway.

Sophie Turner & Maisie Williams Tried to Kiss in All of Their Game of Thrones Scenes

c5a31c3c09a954884a277f41b87b10e2.jpg

You’d think that on a show like Game of Thrones, the idea of siblings making out wouldn’t be odd. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams sought to prove that notion wrong. Turner spoke with Glamour Magazine for a new interview and discussed her close friendship with her Thrones sister, noting that they are each other’s protectors.

Turner told the outlet, “I know if anything happened – especially if it was on Game of Thrones, which it never, ever would – she’d go crazy and protect me.”

Williams added that the protective feelings are reciprocated by Turner, adding, “I can’t tell you the amount of times Sophie said, ‘Go to therapy’ before I actually did. She really helped me through some messy break-ups and some friend break-ups.”

Because people are people, the duo’s close friendship has led to speculation by some that they’re dating, a perception Turner said she’s away with. “I mean, I am obsessed with her, so you never know,” she joked. “I’ve got an addiction to Maisie Williams. I actually stalk her hashtag on Instagram! Even though we are sisters [on the show], we tried to sneak a kiss into every scene we did together to freak everyone out a bit. It kept them on their toes’ making sure they were following the script.”

Game of Thrones is set to return to HBO for its final, six-episode season on April 14th.

Just saw this on Quora and it shows GRRM great use of subtlety

this scene

the break down (of course this is based more on the book because the scene above cuts a lot of useful dialog out)

What did Gerold Hightower mean by "The Kingsguard does not flee"?

I'm just going to summarize the entire conversation, it's easier that way.

First off: Ned is not asking any of this out of genuine curiosity. He knows already why the men are there and he wants them to 'fess up and confirm what he believes he already knows. But they don't take the bait.

Ned: "I looked for you on the Trident."
Gerold: "We were not there."
Oswell: "Woe to the usurper if we had been."

Translation: They had other business keeping them from being at the Trident, and they still do not view Robert as the legitimate king.

Ned: "When King's Landing fell, Ser Jaime slew your king with a golden sword, and I wondered where you were."
Gerold: "Far away, or Aerys would yet sit the Iron Throne, and our false brother would burn in seven hells."

Translation: Again, they had other Kingsguard business away from the capital. They would have stopped Jaime from killing Aerys, and if they had, Aerys would still be king. This shoots down the idea that the Kingsguard at the ToJ were renegades or only acting on Rhaegar's behalf. They are here as Kingsguard.

Ned: "I came down on Storm's End to lift the siege, and the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne dipped their banners, and all their knights bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you would be among them."
Arthur: "Our knees do not bend easily."

Translation: Ned is telling them that their cause is lost and they should have surrendered and should surrender now. Arthur is saying, no, they're not surrendering.

Ned: "Ser Willem Darry is fled to Dragonstone with your queen and Prince Viserys. I thought you might have sailed with him."
Oswell: "Ser Willem is a good man and true."
Gerold: "But not of the Kingsguard. The Kingsguard does not flee."
Arthur: "Then or now."
Gerold: "We swore a vow."

Translation: This is the kicker. Notice that Ned calls Viserys prince. With Aegon, Aerys and Rhaegar dead, Viserys should now be the king. But they don't correct Ned on this, which you think they would, if only to emphasize further that they don't follow Robert. Furthermore, they emphasize that Willem Darry is a good guy, but not a Kingsguard.

Suggesting that going to Viserys now is not what the Kingsguard should be doing. Going to Dragonstone at this point ("now") is "fleeing," from their perspective (notice how, unlike in the other exchanges, all three men speak now). Why would going to Viserys constitute "fleeing," if Viserys should now be the Targaryen king?

It's "fleeing" because Viserys isn't actually the Targaryen king, and the Targaryen king is there at the Tower of Joy now. They were not at the Trident or the Sack or Storm's End because they had up to this point been invested in a very important Kingsguard duty: protecting the pregnant Lyanna and, after the Trident and the Sack, the newborn Jon.

This exchange also shoots to hell the silly idea that the Kingsguard are at the Tower of Joy only because they bought into Rhaegar's prophecy stuff. No, they're there, and they emphasize that they're there, in the capacity of being Kingsguard.

I'm watching season 6 and it's amazing how the night King looks like Kevin McKidd. As a matter of fact, when I googled Kevin McKidd Game of Thrones these pictures popped up. On IMDb there is nothing connecting Kevin McKidd to Game of Thrones oh, but it does look like him

Here's the answer: The Night King was portrayed by Richard Brake in "Oathkeeper" and "Hardhome" and by professional stunt performer Vladimir Furdik from "The Door" onward. Furdik, sans prosthetics, also plays the Night King prior to his transformation in "The Door".

How long you think? I’m thinking an hour
 ^^^This... but after all these years of seeing how Game of Thrones gets down... I predict the ‘whole battle’ not take place in 1 single episode. :smh:
It will probably go about 20 minutes in one episode... end with a CRAZY cliffhanger :dunno:... then pick right back up, right smack “in the middle of the action” in the very next episode. o_O With EVEN MORE spectacular stuff happening.:eek:

Unless it’s the very last episode of the whole series, that is. If it was the very last episode... then I could see it all happening in a single episode.

It's going to be the entire episode
Idk which one
They're going to cliffhanger us where everyone is in position and end the episode
Then they're gonna start it and it's gonna be the war on all fronts from beginning to end.

Just my theory

Only reason I don't think it'll be the last is because thrones allows us to pick up the pieces after the battles

So I can see however it turns out we can see how life will be after the battle and then end it

Ok, well true.. I forgot about this.. I was thinking that they were gonna leave it as a Cliffhanger... in such a way that EITHER lets the viewers "paint their own picture" of the aftermath... OR for future Spinoffs & Prequel shows to address... so they could get some more tv shows out of it. Mainly because I keep thinking about the quote...

"If you think this story has a happy ending... you haven't been paying attention". :dunno:
