I dunno what happened but I downloaded a modded tether .apk and installed it from from Astro. Everything is gravy now.

F.Y.I. for those using the cyanogen ROM and need MyFaves
Ripped from the myTouch ROM. You have to manually add it to the /system/app folder and reboot. It might take a few minutes to update your myFaves contacts before it shows up.

Code:
From the terminal

# su
# mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3
# cp /sdcard/download/MyFaves.apk /system/app

DONT GO HOME AFTER TYPING CODES IN JUST POWER OFF PHONE AND TURN BACK ON (give a little while for myfaves to show up about 2mins)

HTC Touch HD 2 Pulls the E-brake, Does a 180 into Android?

Maybe HTC WAS serious when they told us that a much larger percentage of their future lineups would move toward Android. Of course most of us expected that these would be NEW handsets, but in the case of the HTC Touch HD 2, it seems Android was a better fit and HTC scrapped their plans to use Windows Mobile.
htc_touch_hd_2.jpg
HTC Touch HD 2

The HTC Touch HD 2 will supposedly feature:
- 628Mhz CPU – up from the 528Mhz CPU in the Dream (G1), Magic (MyTouch3g), and Hero all made by HTC.
- A 3.8″ touchscreen using the same gorgeous 480 x 800 display resolution from the original Touch HD.
- HTC Sense UI – The same UI from the HTC Hero.
So basically it will be the Hero with a much larger screen, full HD capability, in a slightly different form factor? I’m sure folks will be lining up for this one, as it might shape up to be a multi-media powerhouse! Official specs and a release date have yet to be announced, but we’re predicting we will see this handset sooner rather than later.

just in case anyone else was interested. now i really have something to look forward too.................

is this coming to tmobile first, i thought i heard it was going to sprint?

o yeah i forgot to post back, I rooted my phone 2 weeks ago and it's dope! I did the 1 click root and i'm using Cyanogen 4. something, lol. The only problem is it seems i get alot of forced closes or click wait. It hasn't pissed me off too much yet to look deeper into it, maybe it's the paid apps i got for free online.

I have had about 4 smart phones in the past 2 years. But, for once I had said after the root, that i'm satisfied, I might keep this phone for a while, well i've finally found something that may force me to get another phone, A BIGGER SCREEN, lol, so if t mobile gets that touch pro 2 with android before any other carriers, that may cause me to get another phone, but for the most part i'm happy.

O yeah, so i'm in the gas station this morning talking to this chick I use to go to school with and some big shot nga pulls up in a Benz, he's talkn to the other cashier as my friend handles her work, the nga is boasting about his 2 benz's and how he just spent 4g'z at Lenox:lol: anyways his phone keeps going off and the lady says "BOSS YOU HAVE A NEW TEXT MESSAGE":lol: I thought that was pretty dope, Anybody know if there's an app that does that for the G1? It was a regular sounding woman, shyt was clear at first I thought it was coming from the radio.

Anybody know where I can get the original Cupcake update released from T-Mobile, I just want to go back to stock.... Help please..

try these, I manually updated while waiting on cupcake, couldn't find the actual link i used but i didn't have time to search the entire t mobile forums. here's a couple that came up real quick, PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND RESPONSES to ensure you have everything you need and your phone is compatible. Also make sure u backup. If needed just ask a question on their forums.

updated my hero rom last night and finally partition my sd card

I have over 80mb free space on my phone instead of the 8 that comes and hero runs great now

plus using Rosie to change up the colors of frame and everything

can't wait till the G tunes app gets off the ground hopefully

So is the G1 currently the best phone being sold by a carrier (far as features)? I know it doesn't have the best rom and memory. But far as all the applications. If not what are some good applications that we don't have? Not including games.

My current favorite apps.

Copilot live GPS
Google Maps
Voice Recorder
Audiohack is great!
Caller Id by whitepages
Camera Pro
Google Voice
MyBackup
Shazaam
Useful Switcher
work email (microsoft exchange)
Barcode Scanner and that other scanner I rarely use, it's just something I use to showoff when the phone first came out. Handsent is another one I rarely use since I rooted my phone. Since I got Copilot I don't use googlemaps as much but I still love to show off Streetview. Myspace and youtube is good to have! Naturally since the root I have some beautiful widges, better keyboard, open home. I've actually been soooooo busy I haven't had a chance to go to the Market to see if any new useful programs have came out.

Somebody said in an early page in this thread, rooting is just like getting a new phone, that's some true shyt. I'm kind of happy I waited so long to root, I think it helped me appreciate this root more. For a nga who's had 4 smart phones at full price in the past 2 years, it's a bad habit for me to go ex girl to the next (ditch one phone and get a new one). But, by rooting it gave this phone a fkn make over, just like giving your car a full service under the hood.

has anybody saw any good skins for their phone, i've saw a couple of nice covers 4 the phone but haven't got them because once u put it over the phone it makes the phone fatter and it reminds me too much of the tmobile Wing I use to have.

I got my first gmail account about 2 years ago, though I preferred using yahoo. But, now i'm transitioning to strictly gmail. I fkn luv gmail now. I send all my sms and mms straight to my gmail account, love how all contacts are automatically sync'd over there. Shyt all it's missing is my call log. The syncing is one of my favorite things.
I fkn wish I could get youmail to work. I've tried everything, I just gave up on it. Is there any other program where u can set up individual greetings for each caller?

Excellent Thread!

yea I know it's not too far fetched that they'll drop one with a keyboard is it? either way that phone is pretty compelling, and I'd be hard pressed not to cop it if it dropped on t-mobile...................

If they drop a keyboard with it I will consider it too. Right now I look as tho I'm getting a morrison and will not use my upgrade so I'll pay full and if a hotter stronger device comes out use it then. If the morrison is 100 to 200 I wont waste my 1yr upgrade...

Did u set up your youmail on the actual youmail site before u added the youmail app?

yes, i've unistalled then reinstalled, this dude at xda took me took his time with me to walk me through all this different trouble shooting shyt still didn't work. The fkd up thing is I had already set up about 40 different greetings for different callers......................

I called t-mobile had them open up that call forwarding thing, etc... shyt didn't work when I had the original OS and shyt ain't working with my Cyanogen 4.O.1. G1 Tech support wont help me with this shyt either, mofo says he can't help me i'd have to contact youmail this mofo kept bugging me about getting tmobile's visual voicemail. I tried that, it's kewl, but I can't set up individual greetings for different callers. Is there any other program besides Google Voice where I can set up individual messages for different callers?

CyanogenMod-4.1.4 is OUT! http://bit.ly/4GGxZ Welcome to #Android 1.6 :) Please read the changelog!!

Taken from from Cyanogen Twitter page. Its still in a unstable state so dont flash unless you wanna help beta test till the stable version is out.

Hell I may just keep my G1 as my Google Voice/business line and use the Touch Pro as my Main bitch:D

u went into settings then call settings then voicemail then set the youmail number as ur default? u gotta do it everytime u start ur phone ...if u set your youmail pin and set it so after the 1st call it doesn't ask it should work...have u tried calling the youmail number u got soon as u activated ur account with them? its a 714 number. if u do that it should forward all your calls and work automatically.

thx bro, will be trying in a few minutes. thx

Since droidappz.com seems to be down (whether they were shutdown or maintenance) is there any other g1 sites where they have paid apps for free?

BUMP. I used the 1 click root. Can I still use the same GadgetPro vid for Hero?

At first they were saying NO, ONLY USE CYANOGEN WITH 1 CLICK ROOTING. But lately, I've ran into a couple of threads on different sites that talk about 1 click rooting and hero. I haven't clicked because i'm not interested in Hero since it doesn't allow bluetooth. Search google and xda and try to find out all u can before u do it, make sure your phone is compatible, etc...

Tomorrow the Moto Androids are REVEALED!

nice should be tight, wish it was comn out this year. Motorolla kind of fkd me up with the razr----I paid $399 for it a few years ago when it came out, had battery problems 4 months later. I can name 5 people off top I use to work with, shyt it could be 9am in the morning an u already here their fkn phones beepn (low battery indicator).

thanks again for this thread! This is where i first heard about 1 click rooting and i've been loving my g1 since then!

Since droidappz.com is gone is there any other g1 sites where they have paid apps for free?

i haven't read all that BUT, u shouldn't need all that shyt with 1 click rooting----THAT'S THE PURPOSE OF 1 CLICK ROOTING. I can't tell u for sure because your trying Hero instead of Cyanogen. But, I know the directions for doing Cyanogen are pretty lengthy without the 1 click rooting. But, with 1 click rooting I didn't have to do that spl or radio thing. With 1 click rooting it's very simple. In the beg. do a backup. Make sure u do the recovery thing.....ok xda can get complicated, so go over to the official t-mobile forums shyt is less messy over there. But, lookn at the link u posted, half of that shyt u can skip over because your 1 click rooting.

stay in it man it took me three nights and I bricked my phone 4 times :lol:

but once I got the hang of it I already tried three different hero roms

and Jac just released a new one today so i will be flashing.

I used a hacked to make my volume louder

just keep at it.

If you have any questions I tried to help as much as I can but if I can do it you can

I have a couple of questions:

1. I'm thinking about rooting my phone (MyTouch 3g). I have a rack of apps that I have already downloaded. Once I root it will the my apps remain on the phone?

2. If I do decided to root my phone should I get a larger memory card?

2.1 If I root the phone on the 4gb card and decide to get an 8gb card later on, can I drag and drop the contents of the 4gb card on the 8gb card?

one of the professionals should be able to further assist u but from my knowledge i'll try and answer your questions.

1. No, you will have to reinstall the apps, i suggest doing backup your apps and before u root do the cyanogen recovery, then before u wipe and do the update, backup with nandroid.

2. it all depends on you, i think most on xda recommend an 8gb sd card, but i've saw people with 2gb and 4gb, some people store movies and lots of music, so they need big sd cards, some people seem to download every app. available so they need big sd cards, the size of your sd card depends on you and your needs.

2.1 yes, but under certain circumstances u may have to reinstall a couple of apps.
