One thing I noticed with the personal trainers at my gym:
1) they are on the juice.
2) Their clients haven't made any improvements in years.
I guess there's no repeat business if you all actually helped your clients lose weight.
Umm excuse me sir? But uhhh shouldn't you be buying my mom some more groceries? Get yo ass off the internet!
it is that simple homie
If I do
3 sets X 230lbs 12-14 reps
3 sets x 250lbs 9-12 reps
3 sets x 260 lbs 7-9 reps
keeping the rest between sets under 3 minutes.
I've had a great chest workout.
my chest is filled with blood(the pump)
I can feel the muscle fatigue.

Aww shit, I see a pic-post-off thread showing who has the biggest chest.![]()
I never said you can't bring down more weight than you put up. That's common sense. You have gravity assisting you vs. working against it, however, most that's exactly why muscle failures happen during the negative or just after negative. You're dead wrong about the negatives. You're able to come down with more weight, and that's not what "weakens" you. There are bench workout where you use 120% of your max just for the negative, of course a spotter(s) is necessary.
But yousa Elroy ass nigga who's never pushed any weight. Oh, but wait, you're an expert on this subject too.
The spotter never took his hands off the weights, all assisted, that doesn't count.
ima start lifting again so i can bench press them tittays
Wrong Lonestar dork. You are responding to a man.
the spotter did all the work.
fuck outta here.
even at my biggest 6'6" 275 the most I was benching was 260lbs but I had great chest development.
it ain't about the weight, it is about doing the bench press properly.
not if you working out only once a week.I hear you duppy... but 9 sets on the bench is overtraining... no?
Yeah - ok, whatever. Nice way to try to spin out of an argument you started but got caught with your pants down in.
If anything I'm saying is wrong or incorrect, not a single person has come in here to co-sign you yet.![]()
Know why? Because I am right.
Question: If the spotter is helpin' you raise/lower the weight, can you REALLY say you lifted the weight? Personally, I don't lift heavy enough to need a spotter.![]()
yeah I have always called my max what it was with no spot
otherwise I could hit 400 pounds with a good spot
they are right though that only one spotter can only do so much to help you with over 500 pounds on the bar
Exaaaaactly! If I had a spot, I'm pretty sure I could bench 520lbs. but, what's the point if I need help? Let's face it, the only reason why most dudes do their 1 rep max is for braggin' rights.
If the spotter can Upright Row or Curl 60-80lbs, then he can reduce your bench by that much.
...Now attempt one clean rep. If the spotter has to help you with the lift at any point (excluding the lift off from the bench station) then it was a failed attempt...
Cadets will perform a 1-rep maximum of this exercise to determine chest, shoulders, and triceps strength. A cadet should begin with a weight which they are confident they can press. Allow at least 1 minute rest between attempts. The weight will be increased at the cadets request and he will perform the exercise again. Allow no more than 5 attempts to reach the 1-rep maximum. Any failed attempt terminates the exercise. The last correct repetition will count as the 1-rep maximum...The spotter will not touch the barbell during the repetition unless absolutely necessary. If the spotter has to assist the lifter during the repetition the event is terminated.
Theres a difference between a spot and an assist. What you're describing is an assist. Its good for a confidence boost but it shouldnt be used as a true max. I used to used my assist as my max rep and would eventually get that max rep with a spot rather than assist. That assist gave me a mental push to actually get to that max rep with only a spot (if that makes sense).Question: If the spotter is helpin' you raise/lower the weight, can you REALLY say you lifted the weight? Personally, I don't lift heavy enough to need a spotter.![]()
No disrespect fam, but me and all the other personal trainers always laugh when we see a bunch of fat men benching close to their body weight....I would be more impress if you was benching double your body weight, but keep doing your thing playboi....
let me explain human biology to you.
I'm really tall, so I have longer arms.
not only is the bench press more difficult for a person with longer arms.
