I have a theory.
The army knew it was going to bail a long time ago. In the meantime they have been removing anyone that could be a threat to the city's self sufficiency.
Look at who they took. One is an emotional cripple. Another is a literal cripple, one is a junkie and the black guy is a highly manipulative sociopath. When you're fighting for the survival of your species these are exactly the four types of people you need to leave behind

Then don't try to save anyone. Escape and head for the hills.

I'm going to miss FTWD, I enjoy this aspect of TWD world. It's not about the zombies, it's about watching the world go to shit and the affect on the first survivors.

Great episode tonight and a really good season ending. But it also showed what frustrates me about the show. I watch Z nation also and what Z nation gets right is moving the story along.
This show suffers the same as TWD. Them reaching the ocean should have been the third episode. Why does it take an entire season just to get to the ocean front house? Z Nation has filler shows also but their filler shows are action packed like the Mad Max episode.
