I grew up a within a couple of miles of that area.
There is an area on the near west side that was completely unoccupied. People started having regular gatherings there, in and around an abandoned building with barbeque, music and drinks. I mean there were so many people that both sides of the street would be filled with parked cars just like when church is in session.
This shit was actually sad.
