You dont get what I am saying.
You cant have America without explicit anti-black terrorism. The country (America) wouldnt exist without it. The bulk of Canadian racial terrorism has been directed towards First Nation people. Remember that slaves escaped north to Canada to get away from racial terrorism in the USA. Of course Canada was not perfect, but cats have to understand how monstrously oppressive that the USA has been to specifically black people.
In the recent past, Canada has taken concerted efforts to make shit better for racially oppressed people here...They are currently in the process of making some amends with First Nation people...while the USA has bathed in the southern strategy, crack-cocaine, mass incarceration etc during the same era.
There is really no comparison between the two.
But like i said earlier in this thread, racism is a lot more than being denied a job for black people in America (ADOS).
If you really believe that the Canadian government didn't use chemical warfare (aka crack cocaine) against Native American people come down to the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.
As for trying to make things better with POC, Canada is going to the exact same far-right backlash that America and every other country in the world is going through right now. It's looking like their far-right political parties are about to sweep the next election.
Yes, black people ran to Canada during slavery, but that's not because Canada was a shining example of human tolerance. It happened because
1) the British ended slavery 30 years before the United States did because of uprisings in Central America. Canada was a British colony
2) slave labor doesn't work well in all economies. And Canada was just one of those places.
Canada never had a policy of mass incarceration. There are no private prisons and the criminal sentences are comparable to what a person might have got in the late 70s. Then again, that's hardly unique. America is the outlier here.
As for making amends with First Nation people, remember the incident on Standing Rock where the people were trying to stop an oil pipeline from being pushed through their reservation? That same company is doing the same damn thing in Canada, the only difference was that they succeeded.
The main reason Canada puts on the appearance of making nice is that a lot of their world reputation is based on being a friendly tolerant country. it's the same reason the United States passed the civil Rights act.
I'm not even going to get started on the number of white Canadian gangs that have killed people of color just for existing. It makes the papers for a couple of days and then disappears.
This is 100% true. I have a lot of team members from Vancouver. Half of them are asian and the other half are caucasian of one variety or another. One Ukranian woman complains loudly about the Chinese taking over downtown VC and the rising cost of living.Toronto is the city the Canada could not CONTROL the influx of cultures. It’s the Florida of Canada. Go to Vancouver and listen to em cry about the Asians. They openly call it Hongcouver. The Arabs and Indians are taking over VC fast. Whites can’t afford to live in the good sections because Asians got shit on lock. Toronto is better for POC because they can have safety in numbers and the racism is tamped down to a whisper.
Good info....I dont think anyone here is saying Canada isnt racist....just not as bad as the USA....you said it yourself...USA is the outlier with prisons....there is a reason for that
Black people live with racism every day Boss...its not a hot topic for us....its life....I grew up seeing colorism in Jamaica, a majority Black nation....trust me, we are under no illusions about Canada...but the USA has historically been worse and is definitely worse now
The one thing I will say is that if you are highly money motivated type A type individual, the USA will offer you more opportunities to make (and lose) crazy sums of money than Canada...that's not because USA is less racist...its because it's more capitalist
Idk about everywhere else in Canada but the biggest cities of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa are better for non white ppl than the U.S. 51% of Toronto's residents are foreign born, higher than London which is like at 42% and NYC at like 37%
Nobody cares crackaI made a wrong turn in Vancouver, tried to use someone's driveway to turn around and ended up getting stuck in the snow.
The white home owner came out, saw of my situation and said, "I can understand a Chinaman getting stuck like this, but a white boy like you? that's just shameful."
I've seen plenty of racist shit in the United States, but even the worst American has never been that brazen about it. Especially not to a complete stranger. It makes me wonder how he would have acted if I wasn't white.
Canada is a more progressive nation than the US so yes Toronto probably has less racism than any US city.....White supremacy is still White supremacy though so I wouldnt be shocked in the least if a big racist incident happened in Toronto....if White supremacy is present in majority Black nations then its definitely present in Toronto

My question is... How high of a percentage of black people is there??? It sounds like when small towns say "There's not much racism here..." But they have a miniscule black population that mainly walk around like it's still the 1950s...
Vancouver gets snow that deep like that?
There are micro areas and neighborhoods that compare to Toronto in the US and there are bigger cities like Sacramento or my city of San Diego, but generally speaking, Toronto has probably less in your face racism that most US cities. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's just more polite and doesn't have the residual history behind it. It's a safer play to live there but you can have more wealth and financial reward in the US. This would be my preference.Idk about everywhere else in Canada but the biggest cities of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa are better for non white ppl than the U.S. 51% of Toronto's residents are foreign born, higher than London which is like at 42% and NYC at like 37%
Since when was Toronto an American city?
White people in the US and the south were constantly in fear of enslaved men and women uprising and returning a little bit of what they suffered on their captors. They still scared of us to this day.
If it wasn't for the brutal winters, I might've moved to Montreal, summer of 2003 I spent there is the most fun months I've had ever

Oh, stop it already!!! These threads kill me! Stop asking if T Dot is "less racist" than U.S. cites, or if Norway has less racism than blah, blah, blah! Enough with this nonsense. Y'all sound like people that move to the 'burbs, and then get shocked with a crime is committed out there. Crime has NO borders, and neither does racism. I don't care where you are, if there are poor and greedy people in a spot, there's crime. If there are white people in a spot, there's racism. Besides, what the fuck does "less racist" mean anyway?! They'll call me "darkie", but not "ni**er"? Stop it! The actual subject of this feel good story had to sell cars, because he wasn't allowed to be an engineer because of what and who he was, and we're supposed to portray T Dot as some beacon of hope on the top of a hill? FOH! For the record, Vancouver is one the THE greatest cities on this continent, but let's not get carried away.
