And what did Chappelle do before and after his 2-year show. For the first 12 years of his career his claim to fame was Half-Baked!!! Dude was going nowhere fast, until the show came along for a minute. Now he's back to going nowhere again.
The 2nd thing I'll keep to myself and it's the real reason he walked away from the show, which is just one more out of a billion you've been wrong about on here.
The man who taught Dave the game Taught me (The Fat Dr.) Dave whole stage persona was taken from a comic named Tony Woods. He was Dave's idol back in the day and he emulated everything Tony did.
Damn Blunt you are spewing even more wrongness as usual! Dave THE up and coming comics out there BEFORE the show. The reason most black folks slept on him was because he was and is a mainstream comic. Most black folks got into him after he got the show. The man signed with an agency when he was 17 yrs old! That's how funny he was and is. My only problem with Dave(well 2 problems) and I know Dave and have worked with him. Yep, definitely not the same generation... And I think Chappelle is funnier by quite a bit... Chris Rock probably had the smarter comedy, but straight-up funniness I go with Chappelle.theblast said:I'm always going to side with the guy who's funny without trying to hard. That happens to be Dave Chappelle. I like Chris Rock and without a doubt is one of the finest comics of his generation. But so is Chappelle. And being funny is effortless for Chappelle. And Chappelle and Rock are not really in the same generation.
Chris Rock came along with comics like Kinison, Seinfeld, Bill Hicks, Richard Jeni, Steve Harvey, and Martin Lawrence. Chappelle came along with people like Chris Tucker, Bill Bellamy, Monique, Adele Givens, Bill Gaffigan, Dane Cook and the like. Two different generations in the world of comedy.
Dave.....just seems naturally funnier to me...
Chris seems like it's all scripted, doesn't look natural..............and i hate it when he yells with his annoying ass voice!
Chappelle is clearly much better at sketch comedy. He's a gifted comedic actor. Rock has been superior as a stand-up, since he matured. His HBO specials have been historic (at least the first two).
do you think rock is better then??
I'm surprised it's this close. Chappelle all the way. It's like comparing Lebron to Tim Thomas. I wouldn't even put Rock in the top ten of today's comics.
