This Dating App Allows You to Make Money With Each Encounter

"Fun, for a certain period of time, where expectations are crystal clear."

Ohlala calls itself “the dating app designed to empower female users”–but others call it an escort service. Once you sign up for Ohlala, male users create date requests and list their budget. Their requests are posted for 21 minutes. When a female user accepts the man’s request, a chat opens up and both parties can agree to the terms and go on a date. While it certainly sounds Sugar Daddy influenced, the bottom of the page reads, “Ohlala is not an escort service. Escorts are not welcome.” Still, it’s hard to ignore that it has been described as “Uber for escorts.”

While it may seem like a gateway towards becoming a sugar baby, it seems similar to what people’s outside views of apps like Tinder are. People who grow tired of making endless app conversation and engaging in idle chit-chat over cocktails can turn to 3nder or Ohlala to get down to business. On The Mindy Project, protagonist Mindy Lahiri tried an app called “Pork It,” where interested parties meet immediately for sex. It’s funny, but these more aggressive apps make it seem like a not-so-pleasant reality.

Pia Poppenreiter, a Berlin-based entrepreneuer with a masters degree in ethics serves as Ohlala’s CEO. The Observer talked to Poppenreiter to find out why people confuse it for an escort service and how it’s better at making dates than regular apps.

“I think that people are really seeking convenience in certain offline encounters. Why you would originally use a dating app? To meet someone and have an offline encounter quickly. What we see is that conventional dating apps often fail to deliver that service to users,” Poppenreiter said. Ohlala delivers a date to your door–but for a price. Casual encounters can range from $150 to $350.

On first dates, there’s always the possibility of a power imbalance, but Poppenreiter believes it no longer exists when both parties are upfront about what they’re looking for. Ohlala labels itself a female empowerment app, but Poppenreiter doesn’t think it’s a feminist dating platform, like Bumble.

“I am more an equalist than feminist, but I believe in strong women who know what they want. I am one, myself,” she explained. Unlike, say, Match.com, Ohlala is not pretending to be for those looking for serious relationships. Poppenreiter believes Ohlala’s users are looking for “fun, for a certain period of time, where expectations are crystal clear.”

The amount daters are willing to spend on Ohlala varies, depending on the day of the week and the duration. Longer dates on the weekend tend to cost about $700 to $1,000. Still, Poppenreiter maintains that it’s not an escort service. “We are not promising any specific service that female users should perform. We are involved as to how they arrange their date–the rest is up to them,” she told us. For those who are tired of going on useless Tinder dates, Ohlala could offer the opportunity to make money while doing it…but whatever you do, don’t expect it to lead to a significant other.

There’s an App Where Men Can Pay Women For Dates

BY NICOLE DIEKER JULY 18, 2016
Ohlala’s website clearly states “Escorts are not welcome.”

Can’t Buy Me Love
I’m not going to waste your time with small talk, because apparently that’s the thing modern daters hate most of all; instead, I’m going to explain very quickly that there is a new dating app, it is called Ohlala, and men can use that app to buy dates with women.

Ohlala | Home

DATE ON DEMAND. No more getting to know someone over a dating interface before deciding to meet in person—or, depending on your point of view, no more in-app chit-chat until someone gets bored and ghosts. Demand those dates, men!

Because that’s how Ohlala works: men post date requests and state how much they’ll pay for a woman to join them.

Bustle’s review of Ohlala includes what looks like a PR-created image of a man named Ralf who is offering “$240 for two hours at your place.”

Ohlala Is The One Dating App Where Everyone’s Intentions Are Very Clear

I am pretty sure Ralf isn’t real, first because his faceless profile pic doesn’t look like any dating site picture I’ve ever seen, and second because $240 for two hours?! My freelance rate is higher than that. (This is also probably why I’m single.)

Verge, meanwhile, gives us an in-depth overview of one woman’s experience with the site:

A new app lets women charge for a night out. Will dating join the on-demand economy?

It’s a longread, and it keeps going. We learn that our heroine, “Tara,” isn’t actually searching for a partner, or even a date; instead, she’s hoping to expand her own matchmaking business:

She’s a matchmaker, as it so happens, specializing in the “sugar dating” niche. She found out about Ohlala in the course professional research, and signed up hoping to use it to find eligible women for her wealthy male clients to meet. “When I realized I couldn’t,” — Ohlala’s structure means that there’s no way for women to contact other women — “I [thought], well, maybe I’ll just meet cool guys.”

Still, for the purposes of research, Tara accepts a $600 date from “Stuart.” A man is willing to pay $600 to go on a date with a woman he’s never met. Two-thirds of the way through the piece, journalist Emily Yoshida reveals that Tara is black, and that some of Ohlala’s users have rescinded their date offers after discovering that fact. (Men don’t see women’s profiles until women accept the date request.) At the very end of the piece, after Tara and Stuart go on their $600 date, Yoshida reveals that Stuart is married with children.

It is an incredible read—seriously one of the best pieces I’ve read this month—but I’m stuck on this section where Yoshida meets Ohlala founder Pia Poppenreiter and learns why Ohlala is “better” than other dating apps:

According to Poppenreiter, Ohlala seeks to improve upon two perceived flaws that Tinder and other dating apps often fall into. First, the in-app chats that go nowhere — or worse, promising matches who ghost on you. As more results-oriented users of Tinder or OkCupid can attest, if you’ve logged on with the objective to meet up with someone that night, you can often be left frustrated. With Ohlala, everyone wants something, and everyone’s on a tight schedule.

And then there’s expectation management. People use Tinder or OkCupid for everything from NSA hookups to long-term relationship hunting, but there’s a high likelihood that you and the person you’re courting electronically might not be on the same page, even if both of you put “casual dating” in your “looking for” field. The chat stage of Ohlala prompts you to be up front and clear about what you want. If you are definitely not open to having sex on your date, you can establish that there. If you want to bring a third, you can propose that as well. Either way, the goal is to get exactly what you want that night.

As any fan of either Captain Awkward or He’s Just Not That Into You can attest, people ghost on dating apps for a reason. It’s not a flaw of the app. It’s probably not even a flaw in you, unless you’re one of those people who’s been sending unsolicited Diglett pics or something.

But if you don’t want to deal with that, or if you just want exactly what you want tonight, it’ll cost you $600.

So much free pussy out here. No reason to simp/trick off ya dollars.

BROTHER,

I agree with you 1000%!

But people have gotten real lazy and females have gotten real desperate,

The average person is always looking for an easy way:
  • won't workout just get plastic surgery
  • won't drive just call ride share
  • won't even cook call delivery
  • won't even drive to shop call uber-eats, postmates, grubhub or any of the other "gig-apps"
  • broads won't even take care of their hair to promote growth. Instead use weaves, glue and other unhealthy things to stunt growth
Look at how site like Backpages and Craiglist blew with no guarantee the broad was getting the money when she arrived. Cash app with a guarantee a broad got the money up front.

Every broad you know when she gets hip to this hustle will at give it a shot. Especially since its only "SUPPOSED TO BE DATING ONLY".

Online payments and prostitution: How the internet is transforming the oldest profession

by COURTNEY BOYD MYERS — Jul 26, 2014 in INSIDER

red-light-district-730x359.jpg

The world is moving toward a paper-free financial system, but in the borderline-legal organizations of the world’s underbelly economy, cash still reigns as king.

Any good business owner is keen to please his or her customers, particularly when it comes to prostitution. To avoid the awkward fumble of cash after a lusty romp, the frictionless convenience of digital payment systems is becoming more attractive.

Did you know we have a cryptocurrency and blockchain event?
It’s called Hard Fork Decentralized

OH REALLY?

How long before sex workers and escort services in the US and Europe start accepting payments via services like Venmo and PayPal, and currencies such as Bitcoin, instead of cash?

The business of sex
While the sex industry may be the world’s oldest profession, the internet has done well to disrupt it. Prostitutes and escort services in the Western world have taken their business online, using sites like Facebook, Craigslist and Backpage to advertise instead of street corners.

In New York, appointments with call girls and escort agent employees are often arranged online, and digital transactions have become more common.

When PayPal opened its virtual doors in 2001, some of its first customers were those working in the sex industry. But in recent years, the eBay owned company has been noticeably cracking down. Any website promoting prostitution or pornography with a recognizable “Pay Now” button is at high risk of having its accounts closed and assets frozen.

According to a representative of SWOP Chicago, a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of current and former sex workers in the Chicago area, PayPal is notoriously opposed to the sex industry. She says that many people she knows have had their accounts disabled because PayPal found out about their business. And if this happens when there is still money in the account, she says PayPal won’t release the funds.

As an alternative, she points out that prepaid MasterCard and Visa gift cards are becoming more popular. But even still, companies such as Green Dot have recently come down on the industry as well, shutting down accounts due to “suspicious” charges.

Transactions are traceable
Peter*, a 26-year old Brit living in NYC, says he is too fearful of using services like PayPal in case he were ever found out.

“It’s an illegal activity,” says Peter, who works at a record label. “If they were ever busted, that transaction could be traced back to me.”

Even those who are tech-savvy shy from using the most basic form of digital payment.

“I’ve never seen a prostitute take PayPal, Bitcoin, Venmo or Square but I have been asked if I want to use a credit card,” says William*, a 29-year old founder of a dating app. “But I would never use a card, I don’t need AMEX knowing I go to an Asian spa on 3rd Avenue every so often!”

William says he uses cash 100 percent of the time, although he would use Bitcoin if it were on offer. “It would make me a lot more comfortable if they took any form of cryptocurrency that is semi-anonymous,” he says. “It feels dirty passing cash at the end of our time together.”

While William says he was expecting to see digital payments on offer in Amsterdam’s Red Light District, he says it’s still a cash-first business there, too. He notes that rates for prostitution start at €50 ($67) compared to $200 in the US.

Starting on March 20, 2014, Amsterdam’s Bitcoin Boulevard opened up an entire street of commerce to Bitcoin payments.

CoinDesk reports that while it was a hard sell at first, many of the restaurant owners started seeing the advantages of Bitcoin – such as the low transaction costs, the ease of payment for international guests and the promotional value.

If this takes off, perhaps it’s just a matter of time before Bitcoin Boulevard’s influence reaches Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

Meanwhile in central London…
Ellen Malloy, a wife and mother of a newborn, says that she encourages her partner Michael* to visit prostitutes. “I will spare you the gory details but he picks up tips from the experts that he brings home to the boudoir,” she says.

Michael says that when possible, he prefers to make payments two to four days in advance via PayPal before any assignation with prostitutes.

“It is a more practical and less awkward way of doing business than handing over cash at the end,” explains Ellen. “More sex workers are adopting this transaction method, which I approve of.”

In the UK, while brothels are against the law, the exchange of sexual services for money as well as ‘escort’ agencies are actually legal. And north-west of London in Birmingham, they are even taking Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Last year, Passion VIP, billed as the world’s first Bitcoin escort agency, emerged. After booking an appointment time, clients can send payment via Passion VIP’s “Bitcoin Escorts” page.

Once the payment is processed, Passion VIP confirms the appointment, eliminating any stress around payment, theft or counterfeit on either side of the transaction. The cost for one hour of a “Standard” lady’s time is 1.711 BTC, which at current Bitcoin exchange rates will cost you around $1,030.

For many sex workers, digital payment options have made transactions fast, straightforward and discreet. But payment methods such as PayPal, Square or any credit card means there will be a record. And given the fact that, legal or not, at the end of the day, prostitution is something that most husbands, wives, families, girlfriends and members of the general population are not particularly fond of, cash is still the most popular way to pay for items off the books.

For the sex industry, PayPal and Venmo will never replace cash. But cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Litcoin that offer anonymity just might.

That all depends. Are you Married? Live With your Lady? No Time for Dates at All?

Not EVERY MAN pays for Pussy for the same reasons.
Lastly, NO PUSSY is "Free" trust me

Shhhhh muthafuckas think they don't pay for pussy,
So much free pussy out here. No reason to simp/trick off ya dollars.

Pussy ain't free bruh...

You spending time to get pussy

And time is money if you haven't heard

To the wise time is more precious then money

You could always make your money back

Ya heard

You pay a ho sweet beat the pussy then she is on her way and you back to your life of freedom no strings

Attached... none of that you on bgol lookin at ass again whiney shit....

Everybody pays for pussy

Some just do it more efficiently than others

So how long until they start crying about human trafficking?

Yep. They always find a way to screw everybody else's hustle up with that same tired excuse. And even if in some cases that may legitimately be happening you still don't have to shut the whole thing down because some people abuse the system.

Like if you pay before....like who would do that? So a guy could making a app pose as a woman set up dates where you pay "her" in advance and she doesnt even have to show up......if niggas really paying bitches and relying on her to just show up that is the biggest sucka move ever

I have learned a lot about the hoe game in recent days. Will share in a lil. But bitches that got

Cash app
Snap chat
And post thirst traps and reject men....

They are your new tier of hoes

Well my friend a wife is not paying for pussy. A wife will give you money when you need it. A prostitute wont. There has never been a prostitute ever to give their client money. A wife will. Give him gifts watch his kids, cook clean, pick him up from work if his car in the shop. A prostitute wont do any of those. So is a wife paying for dick when she assists him fincially?

Here is the thing
Prostitution is a business just like any other business.

And business are for profit. In order to make a profit you have to have customers. That is a fact.

And you get customers by.....marketing.

A prostitute has to market herself in order to be successful.

And in business there are different types of marketing strategies.

So a hoe will have to market herself but doesnt want everyone to know she marketing herself. :zipit:

I mean she dont want everyone knowing she sells pussy.

When you know how hoes market themselves you will be able to spot a hoe.

A woman that has cash app
Snap chat
And allways setting thirst traps just to reject men that are thirsty that is a major sign she sell pussy.

Also if she has lots of tatoos all up and down her body.....

But a lot of hoes practice what is called relationship marketing in business. Where you rotate the same tricks instead of lookin for new customers all the time .

More to come

A hoe and a prostitute aint the same.

If you paying for pussy by giving your wife money then i guess she paying for dick. That is a fair exchange
