There is little evidence to back the Russian Media's claims on American spying sabotage in the Chernobyl reactor. It was 100% the product of the Soviet Union culture of corruption and lies and no regard for human safety or even proper training. And what would the Americans gain from such a nuclear disaster anyway? The truth would have come out and they would be branded as the people who poisoned the Earth with radiation and death for 1000 generations. All to show up the USSR as a failed state and communism as a wrong ideology? They did that on their own.

Same thing with the Space program. The only reason Yuri Gagarin was 1st in space was because the USSR didn't give a sheit about safety of their cosmonauts. The Americans were ready to send their man Alan Shepard 3 weeks later, but with NASA ensuring full safety compliance and covered every possible emergency and rescue situation. The world would later witness just how terrible the USSR actually were in the space race when it came the Moon and developing a rocket to leave Earth orbit at 11 km/s. They developed the N1 rocket which was underfunded and very rushed and failed 4 times without ever leaving Earth! The Americans made the Saturn rocket which is still one of the greatest engineering marvels of humanity.

Yeah Russia had been sketchy as hell in a number of ways over the years. I've seen how miserable the cosmonauts were in old film actually and doesn't surprise me one bit. Being first isn't as important as doing it right

Russia and America are both full of shit and based on white power. Both know about technology that is hid from the public simply because it came from blacks the original people. Solar energy was here during the pyramids and before the pyramids. We have yet to see a pyramid that has not had the coating taken off. They claim that an earthquake shook the coatings off of the pyramids that the public are allowed to see.
Nuclear energy and it's study is just not desirable with common people. Their is just to many other things to be concerned about. But People asleep and controlled may never be able to see things other people would be able to see.
Scientist have studied how certain patterns of nature automatically know certain things. Such as butterflies that no matter where they are born know about certain migrations without being told. Some birds do to. But this is part of the main reason why our true identity and history is hid. And why it is so important to them to keep certain things hid from blacks. It is still a possibility of them waking up and taking the earth back from devils.
They tell us Jesus walked water with no machines. I think it is bullshit when they talk about the father, son and holy spirit. It is to say no black did anything without white control. Even back then that so called father was to represent white power.
Some may ask why disasters like this happen and the evil ones are not affected? Why do they live in a world of total protection? What does selling your soul guarantee you?

Just binged watched all episodes. Damn, it was good series! Thanks for the heads up. Wouldn’t have watched otherwise.

I was a military dependent in Germany from 80’-90’. I remember them not having us go outside for some time, but I had no idea shit was that catastrophic. Jesus!
I was in Germany from 79 to 81. so this shit happened after I had left. I did not watch a lot of news the year it happened in 86. But when I was in Europe they often had protest about America storing nuclear missiles in their country. There were some days when the color alert would be red and they did not want any soldiers going into Frankfurt and places because they were jumping on American soldiers as a protest to America. Their cry was get your poisonous shit off from over here.
When Dr. King was alive he stated that America had nuclear bombs that can destroy a city as big as New York in 3 seconds with everybody wiped away and every building. We could do this to Russia and China anytime we wanted to. Russia got destructive nuclear bombs. All because a certain group of people want to say that they are first and that they must rule the world because of the color of their skin. As though white ordained them to be first and to be right.

Chernobyl Is Now the Highest-Rated TV Series of All Time on IMDB
The five-episode HBO miniseries also received a 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes

Step aside Breaking Bad, another show has claimed the top spot on IMDb.

Just days after its series finale, HBO’s Chernobyl became the top-ranked TV show on IMDb’s all-time TV rankings. According to Variety, as of Tuesday, the show achieved a 9.7-star average rating out of 10, from the nearly 140,000 users on IMDb.

The gripping five-episode miniseries concluded on Monday after retelling the catastrophic nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, on April 26, 1986. The explosion — which occurred during system testing — killed an estimated 4,000 to 90,000 victims, according to reports obtained by TIME, and left horror in its wake, with some areas of Eastern Europe heavily affected by radiation to this day.

The series follows nuclear physicist Valery Legasov, played by Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown), as he works with the Soviet Union government — who controlled Ukraine at the time and wanted to hide the truth about the disaster — to manage the nuclear crisis and save the country from extreme repercussions.

The show’s first episode begins in the early hours of April 26, when the explosion erupts but goes almost unnoticed by those not near the actual plant. In the following episodes, it depicts the weeks after the disaster and what the affected citizens had to endure to survive.

Chernobyl beat out AMC’s critically acclaimed Breaking Bad, which scored 9.5/10 stars, as well as HBO’s other shows, Band of Brothers (9.5), Game of Thrones (9.3) and The Wire (9.3), in addition to BBC’s Planet Earth II (9.5) and the original Planet Earth (9.4).

However, the show did not claim a higher Rotten Tomatoes score. It received a 95 percent from the Fandango site, while Breaking Bad sits with a 96 percent.

Variety TV critic Caroline Framke attributes the show’s success to writer Craig Mazin and director Johan Renck’s (who also directed Breaking Bad) steady story arc.

“Rather than bursting into shocking twists, writer Craig Mazin and director Johan Renck build a steadily creeping unease,” she wrote in her review. “Allowing the scale of the atrocity to sink in with terrible, fitting gravity.”

One of the best mini-series I have ever seen. Very well done! Kudos to HBO for dropping it!

The True Story Behind ‘Chernobyl’s Miners Is Even More Depressing Than on the HBO Series

Time and time again, HBO’s Chernobyl revels in civilian sacrifice, telling the sobering stories of everyday men and women who knowingly exposed themselves to radiation in an attempt to lessen the impact of Russia’s horrific nuclear disaster. However, one of the series most difficult-to-watch subplots was actually far worse in real life. According to The Chernobyl Podcast, the miners who risked their lives in Episode 3 were never actually needed.

“Open Wide, O Earth” is a devastating and personal tale of future loss and knowing sacrifice from beginning to end. Half of the episode cuts between Valery Legasov’s (Jared Harris) grim warnings about the many, many people the disaster will kill and intimate moments between a wife and a husband on his deathbed. It’s an episode that equates personal, devastating tragedy with the massive scope of this disaster. But in between these two extremes there’s another story at play. Legasov has to help convince a group of miners to work in the radiation, thereby exposing themselves to almost certain death.

After Chernobyl’s nuclear explosion there was a fear that the plant’s melted uranium was going to sink into the Earth and infect the Black Sea. If that were to happen it would almost permanently contaminate a major water source and cause untold damage to this ecosystem. To prevent this possibility, Soviet Union miners were asked to build a tunnel underneath the uranium so that a refrigeration source could be installed. This would theoretically cool down the uranium and prevent the Black Sea from being contaminated.

The miners’ story is the first time we ever witness civilian backlash in Chernobyl. Whereas most of the other volunteers who risked their lives in the wake of this disaster do so with a sort of resigned acceptance of the inevitable, the miners led by Alex Ferns’ Glukhov are always defiant. In one of the most memorable moments of the episode, all of the sweat-covered miners walk around the site fully naked but wearing their “protective” headgear. It’s a furious middle finger in the midst of unrelenting horror. These men knew no amount of clothing could protect them from radiation. And so they wore nothing so they could work through what was essentially a boiling mandatory death sentence even faster.

“There were some varying accounts of how much clothing got taken off. More than one said that they took it all off,” Craig Mazin explained on The Chernobyl Podcast. It was important to the showrunner and writer to portray this show’s miners as a defiant and powerful force. “Mikhail Gorbachev himself said the coal miners sort of scared him. They were tough. And they chose willingly to [build these tunnels] in part because of a general sense of honor and community.”

However, the true horror of the Chernobyl miners’ situation never unfolds onscreen. Though the miners and the show operate under the impression that digging this radioactive tunnel was absolutely essential to the survival of their nation, that wasn’t the case. In fact, there was only an even chance the uranium would sink into the Black Sea. Later. in one of the cruelest twists, it was revealed the tunnel these workers risked their lives to build weren’t necessary at all. The uranium never melted through the concrete pad that stood between it and the soil that would lead to the water.

“It’s just a chilling fact,” Mazin explained. “I would put myself in Legasav’s shoes there and you start to realize the cruelty of the situation. You have no choice. A 50/50 chance that you’re going to poison the Black Sea forever is not acceptable.”

Reportedly one out of four of Chernobyl’s miners later died of cancer and disease connected to radiation poisoning. Yet all of those brave men died to stop a threat that never actually manifested. Just when you thought Chernobyl the series was at its saddest, the real life story is there with a new punch to the gut.

Russia to make its own show about Chernobyl that implicates the US

Russian state TV is working on its own version of Chernobyl, a series based on the worst nuclear accident in history.

The NTV drama will deviate from the acclaimed HBO series - and from historical reality - by claiming that the CIA was involved in the disaster.

Director Aleksey Muradov claims it will show "what really happened back then".

HBO's miniseries, which concluded on Monday, received the highest ever score for a TV show on IMdB, as well as a 9.1 rating on Russian equivalent Kinopoisk.

But in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Russia's most widely-read tabloid, Mr Muradov said his version of the show "proposes an alternative view on the tragedy in Pripyat".

"There is a theory that Americans infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant," he told the paper. "Many historians do not rule out the possibility that on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy's intelligence services was working at the station."

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Russian culture ministry has contributed 30 million rubles ($463,000; £363,000) to the show.

The No. 4 reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear plant exploded on 26 April 1986 in the Ukrainian city of Pripyat.

At least 31 people were killed in the immediate aftermath, and the effects continue to be felt to this day.

Just the Saturn Rocket?
Look up Operation Paperclip. It was an American talent raid (cough: kidnapping / take the Gold or the Lead) of the best and brightest Nazi engineers, mathematicians, and scientist during the final months of the Nazi reign.
Operation Paperclip radically advanced America's knowledge and command of several different technologies.

Atomic energy.
Metallurgy and precision machining.
Forging.
Submarines.
Jet turbines and jets.
Armored warfare.
Rockets.
Medicine and Drug compounding (The Blitzkriegs were successful because the soliders were hopped up on Uppers).
etc. etc.

And while the Allies were doing Operation Paperclip, the Soviets were doing the same. The US got two thirds of Germany's rocket scientists and the Soviets captured the rest - accelerating their rocket program by leaps and bounds.

The impetus for the atomic bomb was Jews from central Europe, not the least of which was Einstein, who said that if you don't build it, Hitler will try.

Blitzkreig with tanks was just a modernisation of what they called Stormtroop Tactics developed in 1917 on the Western Front and used to great effect in 1918. The single greatest innovation in tank warfare was ... the wireless radio. Independent, reliable radios in every tank and armored personell carrier and truck and in every officer's hands. At the start of WW2 only the tank platoon commander had a radio, one for every four or five tanks in Western ARmies. They used hand signals. It took first contact with German forces in the west in 1940 and 1941 that convinced the generals to put radios in tanks. And get this: the US had to relearn a lesson of that time: M1 tanks, designed in the 70s had to be retrofitted with a telephone in back during the urban warfare of the Iraq insurgency. The grunts still need to be able to talk to a buttoned up tank.
