Good looking fam! Props to Johnny, Script, the OP and others for dropping great info in this thread.

I just started to purse my AS in CIT this summer. Peeped that my curriculum contained the same classes used for the cert programs. Based on the courses, I should be ready for the A+ by January. Eyeballing the jewels in this thread, you brothers have given me a head start. Thanks!!!

So I take it when you don't know about something you don't ask? The only person I knew who was doing something like this was this contractor at my job. I saw him reading one of the books ya'll posted. I don't know anything about it.
 
 
Started working towards a computer science degree this summer
Have books for A+ and N+
Looking to get some experience in the field, May work with a friend of my mom who is a computer technician at a school district.

Job reimburses for certs, but fuckers want to hem you up and keep you in your position. But I'll take it anyway, beefs up the resume.

I talked to a lady at one of the testing centers, and she said that some jobs are offered vouchers with their enterprise agreements, so check with your IT dept to see if this may apply.
 
I am also going to slide in CompTIA's new Cloud Essentials certain within the next week. From what I am to understand, it is supposed to be relatively easy if you have IT background.

I just pass the Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Technician Cert using their dumps

I sure do not; I used some online resources that I had access to through the gig. I just passed the exam 2 days ago. I'll poke around and see if there is anything I can pass along.

Edited to add - having just taken the exam and having looked through these sites, I can recommend looking at http://searchcloudcomputing.techtarget.com/resources and http://cloudcomputingtutorials.org/ If you are comfortable with the info presented, go sign up to take the exam.

I'm a student at Western Governors University. They pay for the study materials and 2 attempts at each of these tests... and the certs end up counting as part of my curriculum toward a Bachelor's Degree in IT.

For the A+, they gave me books & practice exams to prepare myself.

For all others, they gave me Labsim study guides to go through (videos, chapter practice exams, exam practice). I select which ones I'm going to go for during a specific academic term (terms are 6 months at this school) and that's how long I have to prepare myself and take the test. I'm also assigned a mentor who checks on my study progress every Friday.

For the Win7 70-680 and Security+ exams, they gave me Labsim modules AND practice exams on WileyPlus.com, as well as recommending I watch the free vids at ProfessorMesser.com...
 
This year i finished my Linux + and RHCSA. Im now working on RHCE and then if i have time will work on VMware VCP

Word of Wisdom....Be sure to find a way to gain experience (volunteering, interning, etc) to compliment your certs before you jobhunt. I seen alot of cats get burnt by thinking the cert alone will suffice and get them a job. These companies want certs and experience...

seems like you had a lot of help..I wonder if the certs I will obtain will count as college credits when I decide to go back to school..

Today I went and knocked out the Network+ just because, and I also took the 70-685 to complete my MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Technician.
 
Well the side-gig I snagged at my school is really coming in handy. The guy in charge also happens to be a teacher there and has been schooling me on the down-times. Should be going for my A+ cert by the end of the year :dance:

I'm taking the course for school in the fall. Class is like four hours long. Told myself if I'm not able to get my cert by the end of the year, something is wrong with me :lol:
