Spot on about spending and hr or two a day on some kind of self improvement. My father and uncles were career men. Stuck with one job from their 20s thru retirement or earlier death.

I'm in my 40s, but I'm tires of the waking up and dealing with ppls issues lol, scheduling vacation around availability, etc. Although this job Ive been in for 2yrs have sweet incentives if I stay past 10, Im ready to do my own thing.

I wouldn't mind a 6-12mth contract here and there and then go to some nice place to relax for a few weeks.

Let's do this.

Think about what you want to do within the field of AI

Go to glassdoor and Indeed and search jobs

Notice jobs are specialized within AI

That program is all over the place.

remember education is a business.

The Udacity Nanodegree is way more focused on specific domains

If you were to do that program, think about what someone would hire you to do.

What field are you coming from?

There is always a way to leverage your knowledge of a domain.

Tech is impacting all industries and so people who understand the problems to be solved are valuable.

You can also pivot into a career being a Product Manager, check out ProductSchool.com

I worked with Red Hat OpenShift this year on an internal project and found it much more easier to manage Kubernetes as the software rides on top of Kubernetes. Kubernetes CLI is powerful and can be destructive at the same time without the proper controls in place.

So is it DevOpSec or DevSecOps? I'm always seeing one or the other.

Also Amazon is going on a hiring spree for their 2nd HQ in Arlington, VA. I will say the Amazon hiring process is a bitch though.

orchestration and management of K8 is evolving rapidly, many options out there

We had DevOps- Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, CI/CD

then we had a movement to build in security into DevOps

So it is really DevOpSec

lol

I’m coming from the high performance polymer industry. The money is good but I have zero passion for it. Plus I see friends of mine being able to work remotely and I don’t have that option. I just like the work-life balance that tech/IT seems to afford people.

so is it the manufacturing side?

If so is there an AI play?

Product management can be a good lane without having to get too deep into the technical implementation. Check out product school and tell me if this sounds interesting.......

We enabled AI in our Contact Center this past year. All of the on-prem SW ran on Docker Containers and connected to a cloud back-end.

I'm in the D.C. metro area also. The 2nd HQ is 25,000 jobs alone. That doesn't even include if they win the DoD JEDI contract that will be worth $10 billion over 10 years.

I'm not an Amazon expert but I think most of the HQ2 jobs will relate to AWS. The categories are usually Professional service specialists like Water mentioned then they hire specialists for things like security then the AWS services itself like EC2 or S3 specialist. They already have a huge presence in the Dulles Toll road area with a building they do training at plus vacant land that they own which they can turn into whatever. That doesn't even include the multiple data centers they control throughout Northern VA.

"Don't get caught up on news" is terrible advice. What the OP described is clickbait, not news.
