BGOL Tablet buying guide

Amazing. Are you serious?

And this is why Apple stays winning. Synching itself is not amazing. What is amazing is the stuff happening out the box pretty much automatically, it's a great user experience especially for average user.

Just FYI,

My media server is running off of a variant of FreeBSD UNIX and the entire OS is on a flash drive. I'm sharing data across my gigabit ethernet LAN and 802.11n 5ghz only wireless via SMB, AFP, and NFS protocols. I'm using OSX's built in autofs support to automount my media shares on my devices. I tuned my FreeBSD kernel and do lots of configuring, ifperf tests, etc via the CLI. I have a service doing dynamic dns and using port forwarding, my media is available any where I have cell phone service. I have a computer dynamically transcoding my streams based off of the capability pf the device requesting the stream. I have my entire music collection ripped losslessly and a have a playback system that I can control from a remote on the iPad or iPhone. I have IR blasters that through my wifi allows me to turn on any of my components from any room in my house from my ipad or iphone and control volume, switch channels, switch inputs, etc. I have all of my BluRays and DVDs ripped, I don't switch in any media, be it discs, usb drives or sd cards to access my media.

Since you're mister Great Tech, why don't you post your setup? You always have something to say, what do you use your tablet/phone to do? I'm waiting to hear your response...

i think it has to do with your gmail address, if you have one. If you add an account to be synced during the setup, everything from those accounts get added. Go to Settings>Accounts & Sync and remove what you dont want to sync.

It's no less funny than thinking an SD card slot makes a device Amaaaaaaaazing! Like magic  and BTW I also use my iPad to open up SSH tunnels to my devices at home and at work as well as VNC connections to all of my devices. I do a shit ton of stuff on my tablet.

Quote me saying it's Amaaaaaaazing.

Everybody has been trying to kill iphones and Ipads for almost a decade. I hope this one kills something:lol:

there will never be an ipad killer. they have already built the empire and have loyal customers. only way another company can dominate is if Apple really started slacking on what they add to new devices.

Agreed.

I saw a article on CNET that almost made me puke.

It was for the best iPad accessories :smh:

USB/SD card reader, HDMI dongle, and something else.

Even though I have an iPad and it works foe me, I felt like slapping the guy that wrote the article to tell him, for most other tablets, those outputs are fucking standard :smh:

Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16w Refurbished Tablet - NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-Core 1.0GHz, 1GB DDR2, 16GB Storage, 10.1" Multi-Touch Display, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Dual Webcams » for $299.99 at Circuit City

is this a good deal?

i dont think this tablet is ever going to get ICS, at least an official release. You might be better off going with the new Transformer 300
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/asus-reportedly-to-release-transformer-pad-300-on-april-22nd/

matter of fact, the motorola xoom was on sale last week for $30 more, and has 32gb instead of 16gb. Look around, you might find it for that price still. Only difference between the two is that the iconia has a usb port. The xoom is capable of doing the same thing, but you will need to root (as of now) and get the short cable.

iconia is scheduled for ics.

the usb port allows extenders and xda is working on 3g through that port.

its been scheduled for a while now. Rumor is, it will be in the next two weeks. if this can be confirmed, i wouldnt have an issue with someone wanting this device.
