BGOL Tablet buying guide

Just got the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" for my daughter. Cool tablet for her. Its not heavy at all. The cameras are nice as well. The display is nice and bright. I havent done much else with it yet. I will set it up for her and then give a better impression on it.

not really a tablet person but I bought one of these and enjoy it for the use I get out of it

galaxy tab 2 7" is really nice. My daughter loves it. I highly recommend it for people who dont want to carry around 10" tabs. The cameras are good enough for her to take some pics and record videos. The UI has some nice features as well. I believe its Touch Wiz. Its pretty much the same as any other tablet with ICS, but smaller.

I tried to get my 64gb working in it, but no luck. But some have reported that it does work.

Definitely upgrading. I have the Prime. And it came with all three of the Prime's common problems right out the box. It powered on and off randomly, GPS didnt work, and wifi only works with a decent connection.

Luckily a firmware update fixed the power problem. Asus mailed me a GPS dongle for the GPS. And I tether through my cell 99% of the time, so the wifi is a non issue.

With all these common problems, I still see why people put up with and love the Prime. Its a beast under the hood and the Ipad cant compete

I'm getting the ipad 2, my mac writing app, scrivener is being developed for iOS and should be out in the fall... I'll use the ipad 2 in a laptop shell and turn it into an iOSbook ...my ipad 1 will get jailbroken and used to surf the net and other bs... I'll prob get the galaxy tablet in july for my travel tablet but i am intrigued by the supposed 7in ipad coming in august i'll keep an eye on that...i may get it for some games that aren't on android.

Asus is releasing a windows 8/android dual boot tablet. Not sure when though.

The problem isn't what Tablet the customers want, the reason why ipad is winning the tablet war is why would consumers pay for a windows 8 tablet or Android, when the prices are practically the same as the ipad prices, with that, people would just buy an ipad. I really want to get a tablet, Android or even a windows 8, but the prices are always above £400+, I can't justify the prices as you can actually get a ultrabook for some of the prices the tablet sells at. It's not worth it. If companies like Motorola, Acer, Samsung starts to sell the tablet from £200, then they would have a chance of getting sales. No one wants to spend £500 for a tablet when in 6 months time, a new tablet releases. I am going to wait to get a tablet when it becomes cheap in price. In the end, it really comes down to price. If you can't give a good price, then sales are going to suck regardless of how good the tablet is. PS: I rather buy the tablet in the US because frankly UK prices are rip off

Is this the 'iPad killer' at last? Microsoft unveils new Surface tablet designed to work with Windows 8

Nope. Not an ipad killer. Not even a Playbook killer (even though its already dead).

I'm not a M$ fan in the least bit (except for XBOX )…not even when I had the old WM joints…BUT

that shit there my nigga…….that shit there?……

I like that shit….could be a game changer……IMO it is going to hinge on the Marketing scheme they come up with.

I doubt people will wait in line for it. I dont see it taking away from apple or google.

they better market it right.

If they sell them for 150 then they will kill everyone and everything...Price and specs are the real deal

AOTS did a segment on the MS tablet a few days ago.
They said that the price point will be around $1000.xx for the unit with the full operating system, and $600 or $700 for the more limited unit with the stripped down OS.

What's the best tablet for watching movies that I have, uhhh, acquired?

I'm thinking about getting a tablet for travel and it will mainly be used for watching films. Which is the most robust in terms of file types? Would also need a strong battery life.

Since you will be watching movies on it, i would assume you want something thats capable of handling extra space. With this (and other android tablets as well) you can store movies on a memory card up to 64gbs, PLUS, you can get a thumb drive or portable hard drive to use as well, since this has a USB 2.0 slot. A 150gb tablet is a good choice. No need to rely on cloud service, especially if you wont be near any wifi areas.

also, you will be able to watch damn near every format, from mkv to avi to mp4 to flv. No conversion required. Just get either MXVideoPlayer or Diceplayer and you will be good to go. 720p HD playback if flawless.

This is the most important feature to me.

Good Look

C/S On an Android tablet for Movie watching. I sold my Galaxy Tab for an Ipad 2 (Preferred The e-book and Magazine reading on Ipad) but miss the Simple drag and drop simplicity of Android for movie files. It's a pain having to convert almost everything I download.

The drag and drop simplicity is a Plus for Cracked apps to. I simply e-mailed them to myself and installed them directly from GMail. No such luck with iPad.
