BGOL Tablet buying guide

Looks good...I'll keep an eye on the reviews

You may want to try Photon Flash Browser ($4.99).
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photon-flash-web-browser-app/id430200224?mt=8

That's what I've been using almost exclusively for the last month or so. The way it works is, whenever there is a page that has flash content, you click a lightning bolt icon at the top of the browser and it connects to a remote server to re-render your page with full flash (Youtube and other HTML5 videos will play natively without having to click the icon).

Photon will pretty much play whatever Puffin won't (including games, though I haven't tried that). It has more features too:

Ya when I googled my problem I realized I didn't actually brick it...idk I only use a handful of apps...I heard too that when you jailbreak it some features of certain apps may not work etc...I just don't feel compelled to do it anymore :dunno:

I've been doing. Jailbreak since iPhone 3G

There's no way to brick an iPhone or iPad

You can just restore

My 10 year old nephew jailbreaks his iPod Leroy , u can't mess it up

Your probably on 5.1 and there's no jailbreak for that anyway

There's a lot of good reasons to jailbreak the iPhone but for the iPad is to get paid apps for free, I don't care about customizing or changing the way iOS looks

It can be bricked but it's hard as fuck to do it because of how hackers have made their programs run. The hardware will only let you go so far. It was possible to actually brick the phone before when messing with the baseband but it's impossible now. I haven't heard anyone bricking since 3.x but pre 2.0 there were posts about it.

I say it depends on what you will use it for. Because I have used both and for my purpose the iPad just does not cut it.

No doubt.

I don't own either yet but I plan to buy one in addition to my laptop and for what I need it for (ebook reading, web surfing, and games) the new iPad looks to be the one I'm going for.

Ordered this 7" tablet for my daughter. She wont do anything with it except play some games, surf the net and educational stuff. She's only 8. The tablet got pretty good reviews.

I just copped a 32gb Xoom LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it got rid of my touchpads.

Best tablet currently available, IMO. Get you a 64gb micro SD from best buy. I believe they are still on sale.
Go to your local Verizon store and get the HD dock. It should be on sale for like $20. The standard dock as well.

I wasn't that big on the iCloud stuff, but when I got my new iPad and put it on my wifi, it asked me if I wanted to restore from backup. I clicked yes and sure as shit, in a little while, all of my old apps, setting pictures were on my new one. Safari bookmarks, saved passwords, everything. Was fucking amazing.

Amazing. Are you serious?

Man...If Big Tex feels that iCloud is amazing, that's how he feels.

What is so wrong with that.

This has been a cool, informative thread overall. Let's keep it that way

TimRock, I just saw today the monstrous tablet Toshiba is planning 13 inches, really? :smh:

Here is my dilemma: My daughter has a laptop already. She just turned 8, and wants a tablet. :smh:

My younger one, not even 3 yet is constantly asking me: "Daddy, can I play Angry Birds on your phone or iPad"...She turns 3 in May.

I might have to get them a cheap tablet for games and other things. I was trying to find an Angry Birds handheld Chinese knockoff game for the little one, but could not find any :smh:

xoom is better than the prime?

out the box, i would say yes (IMO). the latest fix for the prime received a lot of complaints. It has great features though. Its a nice polished device, and i know some people may not experience the same issues. Asus is really cranking out the products. My next one might be an Asus. But if i had to choose between the prime and xoom, at this moment, today, i'd take the xoom.

When the xoom first came out, it had tons of issues, but over time, they got addressed. the same thing might be said for the Prime. Once everything is cleaned up, it might be considered the best by some people, myself included. But to me, you cant go wrong if you buy it. Android and Asus are good at fixing issues. I usually suggest both to people.

For iPad users

There's an app called

Air video" in the AppStore that does this

I use it all the time

It also supports AirPlay

I have "air video" on my Ipad as well. EXCEPT, that you have to run the air video server on your computer whenever you get ready to see something. Also Air video only does VIDEO. Nothing else.

With the other APP I can see ALL the files on my macpro, or mac air. And either access those files or drag it over the air to my transformer. Jpegs, avi's, mpegs, swf files, Doc files, everything. I can see All the folders on my mac and share those files. The Ipad is behind on that.

New Samsung Tablets coming soon

Finally, Samsung has announced pricing and availability for two of its next-generation Galaxy tablets. The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 features a 7-inch 1,024 x 600-pixel display, 8GB of internal storage expandable to 40GB, 50GB of free Dropbox storage for a year, a dual-core 1GHz processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the TouchWiz UI. It will launch on April 22nd for $249.99, and pre-orders begin on April 12th.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 includes a 10.1-inch 1,280 x 800-pixel display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, microSDHC support, 50GB of free Dropbox storage for a year, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the TouchWiz UI. Like the 7-inch model, the tablet features a built-in IR blaster and Samsung‘s Smart Remote software capable of controlling a huge range of HDTVs and components, as well as any other device that can be controlled with a universal remote. Pre-sales kick off on May 4th and the Tab 2 10.1 will launch on May 13th for $399.99.

regarding the 10", i guess thats ok for the price. a 3mp rear camera, 16gb of internal storage - seems like they took a step back.

I was all set to get the ipad 2 until I started looking for my "We're alive" files and saw the podcasts in my itunes folder... as mp3's... then I looked at my other podcasts and they are all mp3's. then I saw the hundreds of books I have on my ipad in epub too... main reason I was gonna stick with the ipad was my podcasts and ebooks... now I don't have too! only reason I would use an ipad i for the scrivener (writing program) app... but thats coming to android too..

I'm getting me an android tablet... just gonna see if I can wait until july for the 200 nexus tablet or jump on a 7inch tablet out now...I'm def getting the samsung itouch rival for the gym...

I mean damn, I was actually bout to order a 32gb ipod and a 32gb ipad and spend over 700 total... now i may not even spend 400... lolol

that samsung tab 2 does interest me tho..

It's no less funny than thinking an SD card slot makes a device Amaaaaaaaazing! Like magic  and BTW I also use my iPad to open up SSH tunnels to my devices at home and at work as well as VNC connections to all of my devices. I do a shit ton of stuff on my tablet.

Wish I knew you were looking, coulda sold you my old one for 230.

I got it for $265 brand new.

The Xoom just got the ICS update and shit is sweet and fast as fuck. I have no complaints. I just have to figure out how to delete all my pictures this shit imported from who knows where.
