Bgol pham...

I'll try and get that for you....all I remember was the doc saying some levels in my urine was abnormally high at 1.9. Sorry

Hey man sorry to hear this....but we can comfort you somewhat by allowing you to know what is going on around you....

They probably are hydrating you with IV fluids to see if they can get your creatinine down....

creatinine clearance is a ratio that should be close to 1.0. the range for normal is around 0.8 - 1.2 if its somewhat lower than 0.8 don t worry about that....

if its higher than 1.2 is the issue...that means that your kidneys aren't clearing it well from your body and that tells us that you aren t clearing other substances from your body well either and they call it acute renal failure. Higher numbers like in the 2s - 3s could indicate chronic renal failure which is more serious

But have they given you dialysis? if not then your electrolytes may still be in good shape.

Have they checked the amount of protein in your urine? protein isn t supposed to be leaked out of the urine if it is then there could be issues.

you have to get more info so that I don t tell you the wrong thing or bullshit you which I don t think is fair.

But Peter1978 gave you some good questions to ask. Find out what the doctors plans are?

Ask what your creatinine is and your other electrolytes in a test called a BMP (Basic Metabolic Panel) and ask them to tell you the numbers of it everyday.

the panel is a blood test that will tell you how the kidney is functioning.

The contents of the test are - Sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+), Chloride (CL-), Bicarbonate (HCO-, Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine (CK).

Man, keep your head up and be positive. These kinds of things have a way of working themselves out, 305. Don't get too low during this time.

Also keep your head up...the doctors taking care of you deal with this all of the time and are going through the proper protocol to give you the right treatment....

in other words your case is not new. They deal with this all the time. Not saying that it is not serious. Because it is...

But there is a ton of literature and protocols of treatment to your condition.

Think you will be ok man. You a workout head too? They are going to tell you to slow down your physical activities, get off any and all supplements and pump that water. After a week you should be good. If you feeling sluggish and kind of out of it then that's why. Stay up, it's scary but if you not overweight, etc then you should be fine. Ease off the protein too.

Thanks code and everybody else. They are hydrating me a lot with IV's I'm going to the bathroom like every twenty minutes. I hot another procedure tomorrow....a colonoscopy :smh: due to blood possibly being in my digestive system

Hey305 be well.

Woodchuck and the crew also.

Word of caution for the workout heads, watch your protein intake!

It can fuck up your kidneys

My prayers are with you, man...keep you head up and be strong...and stay informed - it's the best way to fight this...

Been sitting in this hospital for two days and just found out I might have kidney failure. I'm scared beyond means praying that the results. I'm only 29 and in good health minus the hereditary high blood pressure passed on by family. I'm just sitting on this bed wondering what I could have possibly done wrong? I work out on a consistent basis eat extremely healthy and drink of water. I know its odd to be expressing myself on here but I'm trying to keep a strong front on for my peoples and remain in good spirit. Sorry for venting but I'm shedding tears and afraid. I have to stay another night for more tests tomorrow

How did you end up in the hospital to find out in the first place? I went in for a routine check up and found out I was already stage 3 renal failure, not really any symptoms that I knew of that could tip me off, urine was slightly foamy, but I never really noticed it until I knew to look for it. Found out my bp was high at that time and had to go on meds. Anyway keep your head up, find out what's going on and follow recommendations..Good luck

peace

Fams, hope you continue to eat right, take care of yourself & be conscious of how you preserve your 'temple'.

Just found out a kat I know who may have been going hard over the years now elevated from needing a stint & a pacemaker o being in line & on list for a heart transplant.

Guidance

peace

I got the same story. No symptoms. Very high BP 220/130 at my appointment. My doc told me to go right to the ER. I had no wait once I got there. I have monthly Nephrology appointments now. Currently taking Nifedipine, Metoprolol, and Lisinopril. Also have low NA restricted diet. The bp issue was caused by narrowing of arteries in my kidneys.

I had renal failure i did dialysis for 5.5 years had a transplant (non living/non related donor) and all is well i watch what I eat very carefully . and its been
15 years and counting .:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

That lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor (inhibits an enzyme that is a part of a process that constricts your blood vessel in your kidney)

So Lisinopril is called a renal protective medication.

Wait a minute, if we BGOL bruhs are in here supporting dude with health stories of our own, where are the BGOL bruhs that bang dimes on a slow night, drive 6 figure whips, gargle with champagne, live in caves converted into mansions, and dine in Rome twice a week? What's with all of these "real life" cats in here? Another BGOL myth ruined! Fuck y'all!! Now who do I live vicariously through?:(

Stay strong brotha. Surround yourself with people who make you happy and keep a optimistic outlook on things no matter how bad they seem and you'll get through. Don't stress too much over the if's, and's, or why's. Positive emotional support is just as potent in recovery as medicine is. I put up some prayers for you.

We gotta make sure our people are healthy...also from my previous post the creatine is abbreviated Cr....not CK...that s a totally different thing

what percentage kidney function are you currently at? I currently have CKD. I was down to 40% function back in February. But with some aggressive medicating, I am back to 50% now. Doc doesn't expect it to get any higher than 60%, but the key is to make sure it doesn't get any worse. My kidney doc said 15% is dialysis levels and 0% is transplant level . Hang in there fam. Keep your head up.

good for you...you would be surprised. you may be able to get back to 60% but it will take alot of discipline, hard work, DIET. stick with it and you may beat the odds and get above 60%...I have seen it done in younger people on the more healthy side

CK is creatine Kinase. it is excreted when muscles die. CK-MB is what they check for heart attack because it is more heart specific than regular CK. If the Total CK is elevated that indicates muscle death (kidney muscle usually)

Can't think like that. Again, easier said than done, but you're in the batter's box now, fam. You'd be amazed at how a fucked up frame of mind can worsen shit. Like I said, I just got out of the hospital over some pancreas issues. When I saw the med team move in on my black ass like a NASCAR pit crew, I started thinking, "Shit, they got this! Hell, they do this!"

with a good hospital that shit is like a dance the way the different teams move in quickly and do their part to get you stabalized

This or Rhabdomyolosis which like pete said is when muscle dies

How was your protein shake, I see you said that you worked out?

How many protein shakes, eggs, meat, chicked etc?

Were you on a high protein diet?

.

last thing he want is to have high protein intake if he is in kidney failure. your kidney is an organ with little filters (nephrons). When in failure, the nephrons dont filter out stuff. they let large particles like protein into your urine. Protein particles are so big, that they are not supposed to pass through these nephrons. I am thinking that the 1.9 level he was told was possibly urine protein (which should not be there)

thanks and you are exactly right creatinine levels. could be dehydration or could be failure. We had a patient a week or so ago with BUN/CR of 6.8/58:eek:
she cried when she found out that we would have to place a dialysis cath in her neck and that she would need a permanent graft in her arm for long term dialysis.
we tried to hydrate her and use lasix but couldn't get her Creatinine below 4.5 without dialysis:smh:
sucks because she is only 31 and seems to be living the fast party life while trying to mnage type 2 diabetes ineffectively (always drinks daquaris and sodas)
