didnt know Harley Quinn was supposed to be in Arrow..

Arrow Lost Its Big Harley Quinn Plans Because of the Suicide Squad Movie

Arrow Lost Its Big Harley Quinn Plans Because of the Suicide Squad Movie

Not to feel let down by Suicide Squad before it even comes out, but, according to Willa Holland (Thea Queen) the movie meant an end to Arrow’s big plans for Harley Quinn.

Harley’s popped up in a cameo on Arrow before. Tara Strong voiced her in season 2’s “Suicide Squad” and we would have actually seen her played by Cassidy Alexa in a deleted scene from “Unthinkable.” But apparently those were just small teases before a full-on Harley Quinn plot. According to Flickering Myth, Holland said that the show had “big plans for Harley” but that the movie meant scrapping the whole thing.

And speaking at MCM London, Holland seemed to hint that we’ll be seeing less of ARGUS and the Suicide Squad in general on TV from here on out:

Pertaining to all the movies that are being made and stuff like that in the comic book world, it’s also taken a side away from the TV shows. Because we had the Suicide Squad and these things inside of it, ARGUS. We were going really heavily into that for a minute. And then, something must have come down from DC or some higher-up above that said “No, you must cease and desist because we’re going to make it into a movie and we can’t have anyone spoil that idea.”

We did get to see that little pigtail and the ARGUS uniform and the little treat of Harley Quinn, and it just got ripped away. So if we could actually have Harley Quinn on the show, that would be amazing. But it’s never going to happen.

We can probably guess that she was going to play a larger role in Suicide Squad doings, before the characters appearing in the movie became off-limits to the TV show. Which is frustrating, since we’ve been pretty constantly reminded that DC’s movie and television enterprises are in completely different universes. I do get why Warner Bros. would want to avoid duplicating characters wherever possible, but, come on, I think we’d all love to see what the Arrow team had in store for Harley.

Amell's a big wrestling fan so this has been a hot few weeks for him. He met Sting a couple weeks ago and now he's on Raw. Good for him.

Just finished the finale and if Guggenheim hadn't come, I would have thought that was a series finale.
The thing it doesn't is needing to change it's tone. Leave it dark. But I could do with less handwringing. You fight with a bow and arrow, you are bound to kill somebody.

Did not understand Digs problem with Oliver. You work/worked for ARGUS. You fully understand all kinds of black op work and people doing dirty shit for the greater good so what's the problem with Oliver working with Malcolm?
That part was overdone.
I do understand Oliver leaving Malcolm in charge of the League of Assassins. He wanted his sister back and that was Malcolm's price. That was all right for me.
I've never been a fan of the Felicity-Oliver couple. It was just too easy and never really made sense. So I'm less than thrilled with them riding off into the sunset together, even if it's just temporary.
But he's not really married to Nyssa. Did anyone see them sign any papers? So they stopped being married as soon as they decided they weren't married anymore.
The managed to work in Speedy and Red Arrow. Okay. That works.

I do want to give them credit for trying to maintain some kind of continuity between "Arrow" and "The Flash". The books barely try anymore.

The CW has cast Neal McDonough as the previously unseen villain Damien Darhk in Arrow Season 4.

Though he hasn’t yet been seen on screen, Darhk did play a role in Arrow Season 3, described by Ra’s Al Ghul as an ally turned enemy.

The Arrow producer describe Darhk as “a mysterious and sophisticated villain, and an adversary of the late Ra’s Al Ghul. Now the leader of his own clandestine group, this cunning foe will prove to be one of the Arrow’s greatest challenges.”

McDonough’s prevous television work includes a role in TNT’s Mob City and appearances in FX’s Justified and USA’s Suits. He also plays Dum Dum Dugan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Arrow Season 4 premieres Oct. 7 on The CW.

‘Arrow’ Casts Jimmy Akingbola As Oliver’s Nemesis Baron Reiter

Oliver Queen will face a new enemy in Season 4 of Arrow. British actor Jimmy Akingbola (Holby City) has booked a seasonlong recurring role on the CW drama, playing Baron Reiter.

In the DC Comics, Baron Reiter — more well known as Baron Blitzkrieg — is the leader of the nefarious group Shadowspire. In Arrow, Baron Reiter will be Oliver’s adversary seen in flashbacks. This grizzled, hardened and commanding man, who has no conscience and few compunctions, offers Oliver a job in his underground organization.

Recently seen in History’s Sons Of Liberty, Akingbola will next appear in the Universal feature Spectral. He is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates, Authentic Talent & Literary and Hamilton Hodell in the UK.

MARC GUGGENHEIM DEFENDS CASTING BLACK ACTOR AS NAZI COMIC CHARACTER FOR ARROW

baron-reiter-arrow.jpg

The DC Comics Nazi super villain, Baron Blitzkreig, has been cast for Arrow Season 4 with British actor Jimmy Akingbola tapped to play the bad guy.

Well, seeing how Akingbola is black, this caused a bit of controversy online.

Now Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has taken to EW.com to clear the air.

While true, in the comics the character is a Nazi, it turns out Jimmy Akingbola will be playing a slightly different version with Baron Reiter.

The article notes: "Marc Guggenheim wants to 'disabuse people of the notion that we cast a black man as a Nazi, because that’s not actually what we did.'"

It's further clarified that Baron Reiter acts as a foil for Oliver Queen in flashbacks, while Damien Darhk fills that role in the present-day story lines.

“We wanted a really great villain for Oliver in the flashbacks,” Guggenheim explained. “We wanted to come out of the gate strong with someone great and we wanted to, quite frankly, cast the best actor. As it turns out, our best actor was African-American.

“We took the name Baron Reiter without any intention of turning him into Baron Blitzkrieg,” he continued. “Baron Blitzkreig is the evil Nazi super villain. Baron Reiter is not going to become Baron Blitzkreig in the show.”

Guggenheim goes on to say that they only liked the fact that the Baron was associated with the evil organization called Shadowspire.

“We never planned on actually telling a story about a bad guy who is a Nazi,” Guggenheim said. “In fact, when people meet this character, he’s not German, he’s not a Nazi, he doesn’t subscribe to any Nazi philosophies. We were attracted to an organization that actually in the comics had been associated with Deathstroke called Shadowspire. In the comics, Baron Reiter became associated with Shadowspire.”

Guggenheim went on to say he understands the internet reaction.

“I totally get it. It’s all good. We were surprised because we mistakenly assumed that everyone was on the same page as we were, but why would they be? We haven’t told anyone anything about the flashbacks, but this was so obviously not our intention to do Baron Blitzkreig. If we were, in fact, doing a Nazi being played by an African American, I would expect us to be very duly Internet chastised.”

First Look At New Arrow Bunker For Arrow Season 4

Arrow.jpg

“In designing the new lair, we had to think in terms of the much larger group that Oliver [Stephen Amell] has now surrounded himself with and how Team Arrow is a much bigger enterprise,” says executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

“One of the fun things about this lair is that as opposed to one big space, where everyone would congregate, it’s now a much larger space divided up into smaller spaces,” he continues. “There is an area for Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] to work, there is an area for Oliver to work out, and there is a garage. There are many different places we’ll continue to discover over the course of the season that give you a sense that this thing is a bit bigger than we got used to in the first three years.”

Still no word on where in Starling City the Arrow Bunker is hidden away. Fans will have to tune into the Arrow Season 4 premiere, airing October 7 on The CW, to find out.

Spoiler Below

ARROW: CONSTANTINE WILL HELP BRING SARA LANCE BACK

It was officially announced that John Constantine would be appearing on Arrow this coming season at the TCA press tour yesterday, with Matt Ryan reprising his role from the cancelled NBC series as DC’s occult hero, and now we're getting some more info on just how this appearance will work.

I spoke to Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle at TCA, and she delved a bit more into Constantine's appearance in Arrow: Season 4’s fifth episode, “Haunted."

Regarding how Constantine will fit in on the show, it turns out he will be involved in a big question going into this season - just how will Sara Lance be resurrected? After all, Sara was killed at the start of Season 3, but we know she’ll be back as a part of the upcoming spinoff DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, with Caity Lotz returning as Sara and her new alter ego, White Canary.

Said Mericle, of Constantine’s role on Arrow, “It was born more out of the storyline for Sara Lance. We needed someone to come in and help bring her back. He felt like the most exciting possibility and we’re just thrilled to get him. He brings such a different element to the show.”

In terms of whether we should assume that this is firmly considered the same version of Constantine from his own series (and thus retroactively linking the Constantine series to the Arrow-verse), Mericle said, “Absolutely. He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We’re getting wardrobe. We’re very excited to have him. He’s a tremendous actor. It’s so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him.”

CW president Mark Pedowitz had referred to his appearance as a “one-shot.” When I asked Mericle if we might see him again, she replied, “Right now, it really was -- it’s born out of necessity for this particular story. I think Mark was right, it is a one off and this is what we’re focusing on right now.”

I think we can all agree that Stephen Amell is a bad ass. I'm shocked that the producers allowed him to go full out in this match with the moves.

He only took one bump during the match and the roll & dive outside to the ring. Amell does his own stunts on the show. Props to him on his athleticism though.

Cody Rhodes will probably return the favor by appearing on a episode..might be as some one-off villain made up just for that story

If,that Constantine episode gets big ratings,I'm expecting CW to bring back the show...

i get the feeling if Supergirl is cancelled by CBS,CW may change their minds and pick that up as well(they passed on it originally)

There's always a chance she could get popped :dunno::please::please:
I used to count from moment one as her as Canary all the times that she could/should/would have been stabbed, shot, concussed &/or eviscerated the fuck up off this bitch but to no avail:fuckyousay:

What's her purpose if they bring Shorty back, sidekick :hmm:or back to being ADA or wtf the fuk?

Her boney, long head ass is the consistent reminder that this is just a 41 min wkly dorky WB 'show'

Hope not but with any more canned cheese, TheFlash show may outwrite & perform them fuck around to where we're waiting for the crossovers.
We'll see....

So Oli and the blonde chic left the city to go live in the burbs and live the white picket fence thing? That some shitty writing right there, it seems so unlike their characters.

Sarah (the original Canary) was cast as a lead in the spinoff show: Legends of Tomorrow

So for continuity sake, they gotta 'resurrect' her on Arrow first... then let her appear in a few episodes (to wrap up any 'loose ends' her 'sudden return' creates)... then write her off the show again (Once and Forever)... So she could 'transition' over to the spinoff with a 'new purpose' for the new audience.

Meanwhile, it gives the Arrow TV writers more 'creative license' to improve / or do something different with Laurel's character to address the criticisms she has been receiving since jump.

Maybe they will use the time to also try to 'mend the fences' between her Dad's resentment of Laurel for not telling him that Sarah passed away.

Either way, whatever they do... she will probably undergo the biggest 'character arc' this year, and I'm pretty sure Laurel will not be 'the same person' she is at the start of the new season.... as she is by the season finale.

Laurel (more than anyone else on the show) needs a 'personality makeover'.... and the writers know it.

I predict she will either die off somehow, or become someone/something completely different by the last episode.

Time will tell.

Man they definitely need NOT show Diggle in the helmet with the visor up. They calling dude Magnegro and shit

"ARROW'S" DAVID RAMSEY RESPONDS TO COSTUME CRITICISM

David Ramsey, who plays John "Digg" Diggle on "Arrow," defended his season four costume following criticism from fans and revealed what S.T.A.R. Labs had to do with its creation during an interview with TV Guide Magazine (via GreenArrowTV).

"I like it," Ramsey said. "I know there's a lot of criticism that it looks like the Magneto helmet. But by the time you see Diggle in action -- we also get into what the helmet can do -- you won’t be thinking of the X-Men at all. There is a very cool gun too. The gun and the helmet, by the way, are S.T.A.R. Labs creations."

Ramsey announced that his character would be getting his own superhero outfit at this past Comic-Con International in San Diego, saying, "Diggle is going to get some sort of concealment... I didn't expect to be as well-conceived as it was -- I don't think you'll be disappointed." The costume made its online debut in a promotional still earlier this month.

Starring Ramsey, Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards, "Arrow" season four is scheduled to debut Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 pm EST on The CW.
