Yes. I know a few SOC employees. They all got coached up on using SIEMs. The thing is, dont plan on making SOC the endgame (high turnover). Learn a system and move to a more permanent position.Man this thread is hella motivating! A lot of security vets on the board I see. Is an entry level position in a security operations center a good starting point to more opportunities (and money!) in security or should I be going a different route?
Here are some good resources for IT Books:Anyone have any security ebooks? I'm using test out but I don't like it too much.
Start with Network+I got a certificate in cybersecurity and I'm working to pass the n plus and s plus certification.
Where do I start?
I need the certs first then start applying?
I have no experience.
i made sure i had a job where i'd be able to get hands on experience in the shit i was interested in.What do you think of test out?
Also
I'm trying to get these certifications fast so I can get a career I'm doing some office filing shit right now.
I wanna study 8 to 10 hours a day but can really do 2 a day good due to time.
Thinking bout quitting this shit. I want both certifications in 2 months or less.
I failed the network plus the first time. I'm doing the s+ read through now.
How much time a day you advise studying?
Yah them vouchers is hard to find nowadays. I can find one for VMware VCP. I just got my VMware VCA, VCP and working on AWS and VCAP exams.VMware certified, now studying for that sec+. I posted alot of material in the technology forum a few years back when the other OGs (BlackLS430, CybaCypha, others) was on the board but took a few years off. I remember someone posting a voucher for Comptia Sec+ that lets you get half off the test but havent been able to find one.
