49ers

I was in a Wikipedia spiral this morning and I peeped that Mangini is a part of the staff now.. I see yall talkin bout it above.. I was wondering where the hell this smart dumb nigga went, when I aint see him on Espn the past month or so... I think the addition is great... My biggest concerns going into this season are ; Teams picking on Reid and the WR situation...

I'm here to help.

This is why we have aldon, ahmad, justin, ian, glenn, tank, and corey. Fresh rotation of pressure without blitzing but let me ease your mind a bit with quotes directly from the coaches mouths.

From Vic himself

He's coming along fine, like most rookies are. He's in the struggles of learning what to do. The first step in a rookie's got to learn what to do to where he can actually tell you what he's supposed to do. And then he's got to be able to show you he knows how to do it. And then he's got to be able to make the adjustments on the run that come within those different assignments and techniques. And right now, I think he knows what to do. He doesn't always know how to do it. And he doesn't always know the proper adjustments. And I think you make a mistake to evaluate any rookie at this point. They're all learning right now. This is the learning stage of how to play. And the true evaluation won't come until the middle of training camp and into the preseason games."

he knows the playbook and makes all the right calls in camp.
and now he's running with the first team and actually making instinctive plays.

and also he's the safety so if he knows his responsibilities he's the help in almost all situations for us. he's in dashon's role, dashon was not a cover, he was a helper and roamer and run stopper. So picking on him I don't know how much they can realistically do if he's not in coverage like our safeties usually aren't

pair that with the corners we have which are excellent by the way and consistent so far which they weren't in the playoffs. and the pressure we generate i don't think he'll be a big liability and actually see him getting stronger as he plays in the games more. remember jim recruited him out of high school because he was super intelligent. we need smart athletic players.

2. Our wr situation is not as dire as everyone is trying to make it.
we have boldin for sure and we have davis for sure mcdonald is looking like a beast and he can catch unlike delanie.

now we have lockette and jenkins who run a 4.3 and kyle who runs a 4.4 we also have patton and soon manningham

someone will step up. they're all unproven but you gotta remember everyone is unproven until they arrive. with the running game and boldin and davis and mcdonald these wr's will be matched up with lesser corners. for sure patton can be the 3rd wr right now.

also

competition breeds success. so im glad we aren't bringing anyone in because we don't need to. the next stud is already on the roster. we have to see these games and evaluate the talent.

Yup I agree 100% with 1900Killa.

Our weakness on defense will probably be at safety
(Whitner is not good in coverage at all & Reid is just a rookie).

Our weakness on offense will be at WR
(we are paper thin at WR, Patton has a dislocated finger now, Kyle Williams & Ricardo Lockette both have tweaked hammys I believe, & I'm still not hearing much of anything about AJ Jenkins. Jenkins still has not stepped up yet).

The only reliable pass catchers we have are Anquan Boldin & Vernon Davis. The rest are either injured, rookies or scrub journeymen.

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

your outlook on the wr's is always bleak, i don't know why.

don't write them off before we even see what they can or can't do.

unproven is just that. let them go prove themselves.

Large you gotta understand my impatience.. my apprehension.. I was 12 when we won superbowl XXIX ... I'm 31 dude... its been a looonnng time and we're so close that a nigga cant help but be nervous.. excited and grateful, but still nervous

All that's fine but you gotta have faith as well.

I'll say this here but not on the main board, on the main board I'm humble, rightfully so.

But i think we put it together this year.

1st year defense carried us.

last year offense carried us.

this year we see how good we can actually be. defense elite offense elite everyone focused.

i think we go back to back. win this year and then in our own stadium.

they will step up. jim isn't going to put liabilities out there. and if we didn't have enough talent at the position we're $8 million under the cap, we would have brought someone in by now.

Good game.....but the Broncos need to fix that line though...:smh:

I didn't know Collie was with the 49ers....

If both teams don't meet in the Superbowl,I see yall next year in the regular season...

good luck with yall team..:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:

good game as well. 1st preseason games don't really do much from a 1st team standpoint. unfortunately you didn't get to see much of peyton but both teams were only gonna trot the 1's out there for 1 drive tonight.

good work

AJ Jenkins.... hold on to the ball son!

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

1st game, it can happen. we'll be able to tell what they think of him 2nd and 3rd game and who he runs with. if he runs with the 3's in the 3rd game then they don't have any faith in him.

however our coaches use this stuff as motivation. i'll get to that in a few minutes

I can't believe we actually have depth on the defensive linemen...I've been screaming about that for years and Fox came in and did a magnificent job on fixing the d-line...

We put pressure on yall for most of the game with our 2nd and 3rd stringers, which is unheard of for us.......

From what I understand Manning's arm is alot stronger than last year's so hopefully he can make the throws like he used too...

I like Harbaugh's aggressiveness,he will be around for a long time....I wish I can do say the same with Fox,despite having all the weapons....

Yall defensive line aint no joke,I kinda want to see which defensive line will make the offense make mistakes..I will give yall d-linemen the edge over the Broncos though....

yes he has. they're effective too all of them. it was just a case that 1st drive of kaep just keeping plays alive.

yea everything will be QUICK with manning though. he's never liked to hold the ball, so with the weapons i think you can kill it and end up with a nice fluid offense.

i like that we didn't even really run anything, just went out there and was workman like.

slightly, we didn't even have justin smith in there nor willis to clean up so we had some 2's lined up with the 1's but they're seamless, its when you get to the 4's that the hole's open up.

SUMMARY

49ers Defense:
*Our starters looked solid, even our backups looked solid.
*Rookie Reid looked pretty good & rookie Lemonier looked very good.
*Ian Williams will be our starting nose tackle, dude looked impressive.
**Minus a couple of 3rd stringers, 49ers defense looks very solid, good depth. They just got tired & sloppy at the end though, no big deal. **
*Did not get to see Okoye.

49ers Offense:
*Our starters looked solid, Kaep is the real deal.
*Backups = Oh my fucking gawd they are terrible!!!
*Our backup offense looked like crap.... backup Oline was crap, backup WR's were crap, backup QB's were crap.
*Backup RB's is the only bright spot for depth. Rookie TE had some good plays & bad plays.
*Dixon actually looked more explosive tonight, he looked like he might have lost some weight. LMJ looked good also.
*AJ Jenkins is still a work in progress. I wanna see what Lockette can do next preseason game though!

Yall have a good kicker in Phil Dawson,I've been watching him since I watch alot of Browns games(only if the Broncos dont play at the same time as the Browns)...He will not disappoint yall...

I will be shocked if he starts fucking up there....

I didnt even know he left Cleveland, until I saw the Rams game an hour, before the game....

I know yall been wanting a new kicker, since David Akers and the one before him couldn't kick to save their lives...:lol::lol:

last year we got away from what made us dominate the 1st year.
our special teams was horrible kicking, covering everything. only punting was good.

i think this is the year we put it together. i think we stay focused and because the schedule is so tough we don't lay any eggs, we go out there and have all 3 phases putting in work.

can't wait till crab comes back then it'll be 2 of the best hands and 1 of the most explosive players in vernon to go with the 3 headed monster rb and then kap

i was most impressed with ian williams and nnamdi played his ass off tonight. he's gonna end up getting a starting job, our coaching staff just wants you to earn it.

3 things are clear as DAY

Mcdonald is going to be a baller for sure he's going to be a new improved better delanie walker just looking at his game tonight showed me that.

Reid has "it" he didn't look scared, he made sure tackles, came up for the hits, didn't get beat (though they didn't throw deep much)
he'll be playing with the 1st team by the 3rd game. the other safeties are special teams specialist. that's how they make the team.

Lemoneir is the truth. AMAZING.. we just saw the niners draft Aldon, and now we got Lemoneir. He is an Aldon clone.. this year we're going to use him like we did Aldon, bringing him in for pass rushing downs.. which is insane to think about. and then next season he'll be starting. you can see it now already he had the broncos backup qb scrambling all night.

The rest

Kap-Boldin-Davis
You can see and feel the energy and chemistry between them. Kaep made some throws to Boldin that it took flacco damn near his entire career up to the playoffs to make those throws. Can't wait till crab comes back..

Our O line is just fine. we have our 7 set there's only 1 job open.. a couple of our starters didn't even play and then the reserves we have are able to play both tackle and guard positions on either side.. we're set so don't worry. the line that was 2nd, wasn't even 2nd team it was 3rd/4th team.

D line is going to be VICIOUS. you hear things coming out of camp about it..and ian williams specifically and then to see it though. he was a force against the starters. Justin didn't even play tonight and Dorsey did pretty good

Lb core is fucking stacked I truly believe if he comes along right, corey will take ahmad brooks starting job by the end of the season. we'll see, it all depends on how he handles the run. but he has the potential to be an aldon clone.. and if we could have 2 aldon smith's? wow

db's we're ok at safety. reid will be starting he was super solid and whitner knows what's up corner i don't know we signed eric wright again to a 1 year deal but i think all of this is just to keep the opposing teams we're facing guessing. Nnamdi played his ass off tonight he'll be running with the 1's by the 3rd game. I think we have that position set. I see rogers as the nickel brown and nnamdi.

Jenkins needs to run with the 1's to see whether he has it with kaep or he doesn't lockette too. and we need to get patton out there to see what he needs to do?

Rb. Just keep james and dixon to go with hunter and gore. everyone else practice squad. James looked awesome with the 1's when the 2's couldn't block it went downhill dixon was able to do well because of his size.. he looked good so just keep those 4 and have lattimore in the pocket for next year.

overall 1st team gets an A on both sides.

Defense overall gets an A.

Offense overall gets a C- the line (3rd and 4th stringers) being the cause. and the turnovers too.

next week, we see alex smith

^I agree with everything accept Corey taking Ahmad's job this season. You're assessment of bringing him along like Aldon is right. I think they'll use him in rushing situations only. Just turn him loose on the QB.

Haralson showed some life last night also. We missed his depth last season. I have no problem with him and Corey being the backups.

Gotta add that Andy Lee's first punt of the season went 61 yards.:D

I had to break down & buy the NFL preseason package.
I am tired of watching distorted/pixelated games on firstrowsports.

I was checking out the Chiefs preseason game.
Looks like they like to run to their right side (Brooks & RayMac better be ready).
Alex looks like Alex. Efficient but same ol same ol (checkdowns, short safe throws to the RB's, WR's, screens, etc).

Chiefs defense looks okay... not great or bad, but decent.
They MIGHT be a 8-9 win team that sneaks into the playoffs as a wildcard.

well they have charles who is a beast running back.

chiefs defense is full of studs too but i don't see them stopping us from running though. I don't think Kaep and the 1's play more than 2 series this one.

also we just activated Kendall Hunter so our 3 prong running attack is officially back..

we signed eric wright again.. and put him on the non injured pup list until he joins the team.

nnamdi was excellent out there. ian williams was beastly especially considering justin smith wasn't out there to take up space with him..

and corey lemonier......aldon smith jr.

here's something interesting about him and how much of a steal we actually got

Combine numbers and production comparison between Mingo, Jordan (top-10 picks) and Lemonier:
Kiki Mingo - 4.58 forty, 1.55 10-yard split, 33.68 arms, 14.5 career sacks in 3 years
Dion Jordan - 4.60 forty, 1.57 10-yard split, 33.78 arms, 14.5 career sacks in 3 years (former TE)
C. Lemonier - 4.60 forty, 1.57 10-yard split, 34.48 arms, 17 career sacks in 3 years
* All 3 of their unofficial times were the same (4.53), which was tied for #1 among all DEs.
Lemonier (21, true Junior) is 2 years younger than Jordan (23, RS Senior) and a year younger than Mingo (22, RS Junior).

yes you read it right.

Andy Reid tried trading for Alex Smith as Eagles coach

When the San Francisco 49ers no longer had use for Alex Smith last season, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid jumped on a chance to trade a pair of draft picks for the veteran passer.

For the newly hired Reid, it was a trade many years in the making. That's because he "called the 49ers multiple times to inquire about trading for Smith" during his run with the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid told The New York Times.

Reid has been fond of Smith dating back to the QB's college career at Utah. The Times reported Saturday that Reid "enjoyed watching how (he) improved" over the years as an NFL passer. Smith's steady play was lauded as a comeback tale in 2011, when he guided the 49ers to the playoffs. But after Colin Kaepernick seized the job last season, Smith found himself the odd man out. Reid simultaneously endured troubles of his own, seeing a long, productive career with the Eagles crumble into pieces.

Now the two are together in Kansas City, and Smith told the newspaper they bear the "scars" of what's come before. Unlike the 49ers, Reid doesn't see prohibitive limitations in Smith, saying: "He loves to play, and he's tough."

Airdropped into a Chiefs franchise that bottomed out last season, Reid and Smith are, at last, a pair.

"We'd love to stick it to everybody who thought we couldn't do it," said Smith, "he and I included."

I said the same shit to a homie when watching the game... His burst off the snap is crazy. With him and Aldon rushing the QB it's a wrap. 99 or 96 is gonna get ya.

so as long as we take care of 1st and 2nd down we can get in a great position to force 3 and outs.. like we did 2 seasons ago.

all that's left to be seen is how we handle the red zone.

1st year we struggled with play calling

last year we struggled with it again and it cost us a ring.

we haven't had a problem moving the ball under jim since he's been here, and we won't have one going forward either.

we need to get some real go to redzone plays that they can't stop, like the crabtree underneath route run in from 5 yards out.

Yeah. That really jumped out at me when I was watching the game. I was surprised he slipped as far as he did in the draft. I think he was a victim of playing for some really bad teams his last two years. Very good college player.

that's exactly it, scroll up and see his stats compared to people picked in the 1st round..

we got a real steal

I really don't know what to make of the young man.
He still looks lost out there & has not stepped up yet.
He has not done much all camp, & he didn't do anything in the preseason game.
He's still seems too weak to fight off press coverage at times.
And mentally, it just seems like the NFL is too big of a stage for him.
Seems like he just has no confidence in himself right now.

The way I see it.....
We will go into the season with 6 WR's, plus Maningham & Crabtree on IR/PUP.
So the 3 definite locks are 1)Boldin 2)Patton 3)Kyle Williams
Patton will probably backup Boldin on the outside.
We will probably move Kyle from the slot to the outside, opposite Boldin.
4)Austin Collie will be our slot guy. 5)Chad Hall might backup Collie (just in case he gets another concussion).
6)?????
We will need another speedster to backup Kyle Williams.
Our fastest WR's are Lockette & Jenkins, so who gets the last spot?
At least Lockette can help out on special teams!
Also Lockette is big enough & strong enough to run block, better than Jenkins.

Some receivers come on slower than others. He might be the type of guy where it takes him another full season to get his head wrapped around the game. The sad thing is we need his ass now.

He still has 3 preseason games to prove himself. He'll most likely play against the other teams 3's and 4's. One would hope he shines versus them.

I like the Vine vid above. That's Patton with the 1 handed grab.

Unfortunately he doesn't have another full season!
I doubt he will get cut now, so that means he will make the final 53 roster.
But here is the thing....
In order to make room for Manningham & Crabtree off PUP/IR when healthy .... I believe we have to cut someone!
If he does not step up soon.... Jenkins could make the final 53 but get cut mid-season to make room for Manningham or Crabs.
The young man needs to pull it together very fast.
I heard Vernon Davis has volunteered to mentor him.
