49ers

the problem is it can be BOTH. if the coaches get their heads out of their asses.

Run power on 1st down run a pass play run power on short yardage

the offense doesn't have to be one thing. they're handicapping Colin because HE CAN run any type of offense, they all are his strengths

the coaching staff just doesn't utilize talent, they seem to just like to horde it.

there's no reason we shouldn't have packaged to play to our personnel

how do you not run power to impose will and set the tone then switch it up and spread them out then switch it up and run pistol then switch it back up and power them to finish them off

is there any reason they can't do this? NO.

why does patton play 2 preseason games and immediately scores td and shows nfl ability

and then we go with kyle williams as the starter? and hardly play patton

how is hunter back stronger and faster

but we don't use him?

how don't we have mcdonald and davis in the game both on the line both running routes? you cannot defend both?

why don't we do that to death

if a team jams off the line why don't you run bunch formations to eliminate that?

why don't you run double moves against aggressive corners?

why don't you run power with the best offensive line supposedly

why don't we run any screens ever.. when we have the players with the blocking ability and the speed to do it? all ppl talk about is our blocking but they don't use them

the coaches are fucking up would could be a completely unstoppable offense

and it isn't Colin's fault they aren't coaching right...

he can run what they choose, it's why our offense has so many wrinkles. so it's not on HIM

it's on them.

like it always has been.

we could be and should be a hybrid and from game to game destroy defenses cause you can't game plan.

they don't know when to do what.

last week was power and bunch and screen... simple

1st week was the right game plan

frustrating man

but it ain't Kap.

I think that inadvertently, it is his fault. He is the prototype of this new breed of quarterback in the NFL and I think that in the process of trying to make the most of his abilities, Harbaugh and the coaching staff are overthinking. They can run the more "complex" stuff that strongly emphasizes his athletic gifts while also running the more "simple" stuff.

Like you said, it doesn't have to be one or the other.

this is where they are supposed to earn their pay.

we have never used all of our weapons. every team does. we don't seattle's offense even with harvin doesn't have the weapons we have. we have MORE and better everything. the only advantage they have over us is defensive backfield that's it.

but the coaches shit the bed offensively just still can't believe it.

don't use mcdonald, patton.. why did we draft them? don't use williams, moore, don't activate 6'4" baldwin against the seattle corners don't run hunter to speed past them when deangelo williams just did that last week.

we DON'T use everything

how don't we run a 2 te set that's unstoppable like the patriots like to run with mcdonald and davis?

all the space speedsters we have we don't run screens to get them in space?

its totally on them. if you have someone that can do anything like we know kap can actually do. traditional, spread, power, under center, shotgun, pistol..

THEN DO IT

don't not do it

when we get to the redzone it should be a forgone conclusion it's a td.

mcdonald,davis,boldin,gore,baldwin

it shouldn't even be CLOSE

Shout out to all my fellow Niner fans. Reading through the comments it good to see that we are educated about our team and football.

As for the Seattle game. Gotta agree with my man LargeBills. We didn't do anything I expected us to do. It seems like Roman gets dumb founded in Seattle.

We all know Seattle likes to crowd the box and play straight man coverage. I expected us to use our power run game and spread them out to run and hit passes underneath (their 2nd and 3rd corners are a liability).

The homie Blaxican mentioned the Wham play. It works versus Seattle. Also the quick hitting runs work. We ran none of that.

Let's look at the first 3 quarters when the game was only 12-3. Before it got out of hand by turnovers.

LargeBills you talked about our bread and butter, the power run game. We ran a total of 5 power runs (for 17 yards). As a matter of fact Kaepernick lined up under center only 7 times. The idea of beating down that defense was not thought of.

The other 2 times Kaepernick was under center we ran a play-action pass. 1 play was stopped by a penalty. The other play was a 19 yard pass completion to Vance McDonald.

LargeBills I'm with ya homie. Roman gets a zero grade for this game. If you look at the play call where we tried to throw to Miller on the goal line. Why wasn't McDonald used there? Why get cute and use Miller, who can catch, but he's no McDonald that can make tough catches.

There were no screens to take advantage of the aggressive rush. No spread'em & shrewd'em run plays. Just a lot of PISTOL FORMATION. As a matter of fact, every time we were in 21 personnel, we lined up in the Pistol. Talk about predictable.

Yes we committed penalties and hurt ourselves but the play calls sucked overall.

The good news is that it's only week 2. No need to panic. We'll bounce back. Roman will bounce back also. We've seen him call shitty plays in the past and then come back with a good plan.

Last year ok they were peaking, they blitzed us it got out of hand we lost. I can deal with that. we beat them the previous year. This time you come back and you don't run anything new? we ran everything new against the packers. we ran everything we ran last year... they lined up man to man.. we have the offense to beat that.. the personnel to take advantage of them daring us.. didn't the bears play man to man? and you don't take advantage of it?

We all know Seattle likes to crowd the box and play straight man coverage. I expected us to use our power run game and spread them out to run and hit passes underneath (their 2nd and 3rd corners are a liability).

either or. spread them out, they don't go 5db's deep. or line up right with them accept the challenge and run it. roman didn't do either and he could have. im not upset because they beat us.. im upset because roman didn't give us a chance to win. all the fucking talent in the world and you don't use it. id really consider demoting him. this dude is always trying to get cute and always trying to be a genius be a good coach first. there's a reason he hasn't been snatched from us.

wasn't thought of and mangini either didn't bring it up or roman's arrogant ass didn't listen. you punch back you don't get cute. you want to be tough be tough. our defense did it and proved it..

The other 2 times Kaepernick was under center we ran a play-action pass. 1 play was stopped by a penalty. The other play was a 19 yard pass completion to Vance McDonald.

it is no coincidence that every time McDonald get's playing time he makes big time plays. No coincidence. why don't we use who we drafted?

why are we running routes with the full back when we could run routes with mcdonald why is the full back not lead blocking and smashing people in the mouth. why isn't the offensive line being brought into the game by moving them forward and run blocking instead of always backing up pass blocking?

There were no screens to take advantage of the aggressive rush. No spread'em & shrewd'em run plays. Just a lot of PISTOL FORMATION. As a matter of fact, every time we were in 21 personnel, we lined up in the Pistol. Talk about predictable.

hunter is better and stronger and faster and they don't use him. you saw how fast he looked against green bay when they did run with him? come on now.. why on earth do we not use patton? he's better than kyle williams already.. it must be said. williams as a #4 wr. fast don't mean shit. vanilla offense. vanilla its like they totally disregarded this game.
Yes we committed penalties and hurt ourselves but the play calls sucked overall.

at the end, that's defense being frustrated after dominating for so long and the offense giving them NOTHING. 5-0 come the fuck on they only gave up 3 points through almost 3 quarters on the road in seattle.
The good news is that it's only week 2. No need to panic. We'll bounce back. Roman will bounce back also. We've seen him call shitty plays in the past and then come back with a good plan.

not about panic to me. its frustrating because this is what they get paid for. to scheme and put players in the position to win. and they earn their checks doing it in the big games not the other ones.

they disregarded this game and thought well it's a long season. that's a horrible approach. this game won't make our season however they should have approached it with the thought process of we need these first two more than anything

we beat green bay then we send a message

we beat seattle in seattle we basically ruin their aura we ruin their season almost because teams then go in thinking they can win.

now it makes the game at our house even more important and puts more pressure on us than on them. they have house money they held serve. if we would have broken serve that late game could be going for the kill

instead of going for the kill, we're going to be trying to make sure we don't lose with more pressure on us than there was sunday..

and if roman doesn't fix his red zone offense he needs to be fired period.

1st year ok. we move the ball we can't get it in we get fg ok 1st year

last year ok we're a little better but when its on the line you can't dial up anything...cost us a ring.

now this year? if you can't do it this year...you ain't shit. you aren't getting better..

PERIOD

stop wasting the defenses effort.

Gotta take my hat off to the defense. They played lights out, even with the loss of Williams, Reid & McDonald.

In my eyes they only gave up 3 points. Penalties, turnovers & a safety lead to the other points.

the stats support the argument. the offense gave the ball up 4 times and our defense produced 2 turnovers.

seattle got 2 points from the offense.

and finally yielded a field goal and that's it for the half.

they sacked wilson 4 times, he started 0-6 for 0 yards and an int. the team averaged 3yards per carry on 47 rushes and the Seattle offense didn't produce 300 yards of offense.

that's fucking outstanding on the road in Seattle PERIOD.

and only a touch down off of a short field through 3 quarters.

the defense played STELLAR i have no blame for the defense. in the end frustration set in and that was that. I wish they could have held off and kept it 12-3 or something like that but when your offense is 3 and out and you're on the field for 40 minutes. against a damn good team and a great team at home

that's it

Vernon Davis Tweets his hamstring is ok:
"No need to worry y'all. My leg is feeling great just need a little rest til kickoff according to the docs."

Fullback/Linebacker/Special Team player Owen Marecic finally signed.

Ian Williams placed on DL. Demarcus Dobbs and Tony Jerod-Eddie remain as the only backup defensive linemen behind starters.

Eric Reid is still undergoing tests but he is showing no signs of lingering concussion symptoms.

Ray McDonald had xrays on his right ankle which came back negative.

Davis, Reid & McDonald's status' for Sunday's game versus the Colts are still unknown a this point.

all those weapons. we have the offense to be a true hybrid and beat ANY team.

and they just don't use them. can't not use what you have. be the best not just ok don't save shit don't pick and choose when to unleash.

full throttle all times

get a killer instinct greg roman

^^Good stuff LargeBills.. Basically everything we talked about.

FYI, we only used 11 personnel 7 times on Sunday (*Through 3 quarters, when the game was close. In the 4th quarter it was all spread).

We mentioned spreading them out to create matchups underneath against their 3rd & 4th corners. We saw none of that. There no way Williams or Patton doesn't get open. You can even calls plays that create matchups for Davis underneath.

This Sunday versus the Colts it's all about the play calling. Let's see how Roman and Co. bounce back.

Squandering opportunities. It feeds into the myth we don't have weapons on the outside to do anything. WE DO we go 4-5 deep at wr we just don't do it. Running 2wr routes with a te and a fullback won't cut it against MAJORITY teams and def not against seattle. spread running against 8 in the box doesn't work against most teams and not seattle. so either power it up

or spread it out

I'm tired of wondering why we don't use people. being cute and toting all the talent ain't shit. use the talent to be great. there's no reason patton shouldn't have a couple td's right now.. who's going to guard him in the slot?

nobody

smh

there's no reason gore and hunter shouldn't be working to death.. no reason macdonald shouldn't have end zone td's he's our gronk and they just gonna not use him.

shit they barely used moss and manningham with smith or kap

just idiotic shit

The San Francisco 49ers are a few days away from their Week 3 contest with the Indianapolis Colts, and they have a few injury question marks heading into the weekend. The coaches and players met with the media, and we were able to get various updates. You can check out our Twitter 49ers media list for all the details.

The big news is that Eric Reid continues to make his way through the NFL's concussion protocol. He has to remain asymptomatic through to Sunday, but if he does, it would seem like he would then be a lock to play. We'll continue updating this each day.

49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio informed the assembled media that he expected Justin Smith and Ray McDonald to be fine come game day. Both got yesterday off from practice as Smith is dealing with a shoulder thing, and McDonald is getting through a sprained ankle. I imagine they will sit out much of practice this week to get back to 100 percent for the game.

Vernon Davis was wearing wrapping around his left hamstring, and it seems unlikely that he will practice today, or probably tomorrow either. Greg Roman had the money quote, saying "I don't know what kind of blood he has going through his body but it heals really well." That strikes me as a fairly positive sign for Sunday.

today

With Davis having an opportunity to play against his brother I expect him to get on the field Sunday afternoon.

It's funny watching the Eagles/Cheifs game and seeing A.J. Jenkins and Chad Hall on the field at the same time.

It's being reported that weed & pills were found in the car. Smith also blew a .15 on the breathalyzer test. The legal limit in California is .08.

we'll have to see what it was and what will happen.

he's gonna cost himself a chance at greatness by being an idiot. there's no reason. and i mean it's not symptomatic of the team cause he's the only one getting into any trouble while everyone else is being model citizens smh.

Corey, time to get some shine

Man , I just saw this on NFL.com
Aldon needs to grow up!
I remember he got arrested for a DWI/DUI a couple years ago too!
He's going to be suspended probably for 2-4 games!
Is he trying to outdo Von Miller?

:smh::smh::smh:

They said Aldon passed out behind the wheel with his foot still on the gas & tires still turning!
Thats the burnt rubber on the sidewalk!
On the real..... man lucky he didn't seriously hurt someone.
Could have been some kids on that sidewalk at 7:00am
What an idiot!!!

yeah, he sure do!!..:smh::smh:..he's hurting his self and the team with this BS he's doing!!!...:smh::smh:

he's need to grow up for real!!

I don't like the way this season is starting. :smh:

it's only 2 games

1st game we beat the packers who are a great team

2nd game offense didn't show up but the defense has been consistently good.

the ship needs to be righted and they need to focus and bring intensity every week. that includes the coaching staff. hopefully that lesson is learned.

aldon was a dumb ass. dixon was a dumb ass again.

and that's why we drafted Corey, just in case some shit happened.

depth.

now if we only would use the depth we have on offense then we might dominate

Any word on what type of punishment or if there will be punishment by the shield for Smith?

Dude is being a major goof up.....how you can't get a fucking ride home when the NFL offers a free cab service is mind blowing to me.....

Hell my cuz....he and a well known football player are best friends. He handles his charitable organizations and other business ventures on his behalf. When this guy tore up his whip he went got him ASAP......he need better people around him man.....watch the young man back. He is too damn talented

Nothing concrete has been announced yet. Everything now is pure speculation.

There's been talk of 2-4 week suspension. Aldon Smith entering rehab.

It's been noted that he will play sparingly today. So we'll get to see Corey finally. I'd love to see Aldon & Corey on the field at the same time getting after Luck.

it has to come from the league. the 49ers can't suspend him per the new cba so that's why they didn't do it internally.

just have to wait and see what happens.

it's a shame dudes don't have the sense to know when they have it good. he should be focused on getting 30 sacks and going to a super bowl

not partying with fucking weak ass anthony dixon.

Vernon Davis is out for the Colts game. Chris Harper activated in his place.

Tony Jerod-Eddie active replacing Ian Williams. He'll backup Dorsey.

if we use gore and hunter and we actually use patton and moore we should be ok.

macdonald will ball out if we actually use him as well.

gotta use these people not just have them so nobody else can

Chris Harper will be used as our Delanie Walker TE.
Vance McDonald has a tendency to drop passes though.

We need to run Gore out of the traditional I-formation instead of the pistol.
Use Hunter more, when we run read option plays.

Our WR's really need to step up this game, or else we need to make a push for Josh Gordon.
Kyle Williams was getting open last game, but Kaep kept missing him.
