considering how they have played bk is lucky to be down 3
What I don't see much of in the league with duo bigs been is screening for for the other to get open. A screen from block to block allows the the PF/C center to get into better position and allow enough times for someone to feed them the ball. This would work well for the Clips.
see what i mean.
clippers run a weave, end up with blake griffin dribble penetration from the top.

i wonder.
so you screen to get 1 open.
can either finish?
clippers rather spread the floor with dudley in 1 corner and reddick in the other. then let them run through the lane to curl or flare.
but clipper O looks like a lot of movement with not a lot of purpose
Nonetheless, they are high percent shot. Early half court offense should go through the bigs. That would take little time off the clock if neither gets open.
if they were that capable (i suspect they are not), i would just play 2 man game, or even better, a little 3 man triangle (low block, corner, wing) all night long.
i'm just not sure either can do it. matt barnes wasn't even able to hook jason terry to death.
there are like 6 people in the nba who can shoot a hook shot consistently![]()

Clips don't have the players for the triangle, but they do have good shooters and a couple of play makers on the wing. If all fails there is always the pick and roll with Paul.
i'm not trying to knock blake griffin, but you ever notice he does 2 things with the ball?
on the block, look for a spin move. never a jump hook off 2 feet planted.
outside the paint, full body pump fake. never a squat, never a ball fake. full body pump fake.

on the flip side, the clippers DO command that type of attention around the arc (chris paul, jj reddick, jared dudley), so you manipulate the D by making them run out and guard the line
notice?
it's all he can do. if those things don't work he looks exactly how you ended your post
they said he has been working on his jumper all summer and thought to myself, he doesn't even have an inside game yet why he working on outside stuff?
my biggest issue with blake griffin isn't a technical one.
i would like to see him be more proactive in his decision making. less reactive, more intent behind his activity.
i wasn't talking about the triple post O.
i was talking just some basic triangle spacing at those 3 points (low block, corner, wing).
i too, favor the ball entering the block, but you need quick decision making and good passing (like a shaquille o'neal or pau gasol, for example) for the D to respect that pass and create an offensive opportunity.
when the D doesn't have to respect the ball entering that zone, the D doesn't stretch, an offensive opportunity isn't created, and the D gets to settle in or wait for a D rebound.
clipper post play doesn't command that type of attention, IMO.

that comes with being able to do whatever you want down there.. being confident is being fluid imo
you know how some QBs can read a D and select the (or a) correct option?
whereas others take longer, sometimes holding the ball too long and resulting in a sack?
blake griffin is the second QB example. he has all the physical ability, but you can virtually see the gears grinding upstairs. running through progressions.
Jumpers, Jumpers, Jumpers...
Nothing to the basket. All jumpers. Low percentage shots.
2 man game got deandre jordan a jump hook.
but he air balled.
mullens got the putback.
Clippers got the tough now.
4 3FGAs
and those 2 big buckets by blake griffin.
great help by matt barnes to slow plumlee enough for blake griffin to recover and roof him.
then he ran the wing for the and 1.
then the nice spin back door for the lob.
michael smith took 3 quarters to point out what i said in Q1
