!!!2008 NFL Free Agency Thread!!! - Updated When Signings Occur

Mayne, I need those Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals to start signing some folks. They need to get rid of Fitzgerald with his $18 million salary in 2008.

Thats what happens when teams sign folks to hug contracts and backload everything, it can blow up in their faces.

The Dolphins been busy as fuck today, but I think they got a hidden gem in Ernest Wilford. He's not a deep threat with top-end speed like Bernard Berrian, but he's a big target in the red-zone and he's a helluva downfield blocker. He just needs to be in the right system in order to thrive as a legitimate WR.

But what tha fuck were they thinking with Calvin Pace? That’s about as ridiculous as the contract they signed Joey Porter to last year.:smh:

Asante Samuel signed by the Eagles, but for way less than expected. 6 year 54 million dollars. What is up with the market? This was the 10 million dollar man. Nate Clements is still the highest paid DB in the NFL with the 8 year 80 million dollar contract.

so does that mean we have more money to play with now? we need a damn receiver, and a LB too.
They put the franchise tag on LJ Smith. I always thought he could have been better, like Tony Gonzalez. Maybe they dont draw up enough plays for him.

Oh hell no. First Muhsin and now Berrian? What the fuck are the Bears doing?

Moose had to go. I am sad to see Berrian go but he wants too much money.

Looks like Minnesota is out of the running for Berrian for the time being.

Free agent Bernard Berrian is reportedly en route to Oakland.
The Vikings couldn't get him signed immediately, not that they're entirely out of the running. Berrian is the deep threat big-armed JaMarcus Russell needs and Al Davis has tons of cap room, even after the Tommy Kelly signing.

EDIT:
49ers | Team offers Faneca a contract
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 14:40:29 -0800

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the San Francisco 49ers have offered a contract to unrestricted free-agent OG Alan Faneca (Steelers). Faneca is expected to make a decision Sunday, March 2.

Not a done deal BUT DAMN San Fran you greedy fuckers!!!

Broncos release LB Ian Gold.

Alan Faneca has agreed in principle to a 4 year contract contract with the New York Jets.

Bills release DT Larry Triplett.

Raiders sign Gibril Wilson, Safety, for six years and $39 million.

670 AM in Chicago just reported that Lance Briggs is going to visit with the New Orleans Saints either tomorrow or Monday.

Lance Briggs is what you call a "system guy". I don't see him playing as well as he did in the "Cover-Two' scheme that the Bears ran.

Good luck to whoever ends up overpaying for his services.:smh:

Word...the saints are upgrading big time......ARE WE STILL TALKING TO THE GIANTS ABOUT SHOCKEY?.....This Is A Good Look....We Need To Look At Drayton And Randall ASAP

I'm so glad to see my skins staying out of this Free agent race...we do need a DE though.

He is like Kris Jenkins but nowhere near as good and older. He isn't an upgrade at the position, but he is just big and i mean gigantic big.

Gigantic? Hes listed at 297. Gigantic big is what the Panthers have at their other started DT spot. Maake Kemoeatu. Hes 6'5 345

Y'all aint got the cap-room to go out and get anybody. You know, after giving Brandon Lloyd, Adam Archuleta and Antwan Randle-El all that money.:D

we could if we wanted to we are in the process of restructuring contracts but who is there to spend BIG money on that will make a difference. We can wait and plug holes cheaper later

brandon lloyd is gone, brunell's contract was just voided. Chris Cooley's contract was already restructured. Trust me, Danny Boy (Snyder) is workin' that salary cap situation as we speak. I would love to see T-sizzle (suggs) in burgundy and gold but that is just a wish..hopefully we load up on draft picks with some shrewd moves. at least move up from 22 or wherever we are in the draft positioning.

strange signings I wonder what Bill is doing down there?

Spending that money. That cat is trigger happy, he overspent for Pace and and the guard Justin Smiley. Wilford was probably the best pick up and I think he and Ginn can do damage providing they draft Matt Ryan.

did they sign Pace i read something earlier that said he left without signing to see the jets

Bill is not gonna draft Matt Ryan with the number one.....if he can move down multiple times maybe

Well according to Rotoworld, his agent is driving the market up for him and has been saying all day that he was signed to almost like 3 different teams and the Dolphins ultimately offered him 20 MILLION GUARANTEED. They probably will confirm and announce the signing tomorrow, but his agent is playing that hardball.

the big tuna likes offensive lineman, this goes back to his days runnin' the NY Giants..I would bank on Pace in a dolphins uni.
