Are you giving a green dude benefit of the doubt? Why does Faber get it..cause he was champ forever ago?
Dean lets it go more often than not, he saved Faber from sounding like Ali, he should be thanked not ridiculed. Learn from the past...not repeat it.
Damn the absence of those roids really make a visible difference
a good ref: "uriah defend or im going to stop it"
uriah: *slight thumbs up while turtle'ing, unable to protect himself and completely getting pounded on like a bitch*
herb dean: (waves hand to stop fight)
#Dumb
- Good feedback, everyone.
- Props to Iaquinta & Lee leading off the televised prelims
- They put on a good showing, and nice to see them added to the PPV card after the main portion was over
- Mad props to Trujillo & Varner. Great 2-rounder right there - and they both collected big bonus $
- Shit ... people were scattered about at the party and that finish caught EVERYONE off-guard
- Was hoping for more from Mir and Overeem. Mir's a bit too tough for his own good at this point. Hopefully he'll retire and either coach or do color commentary/Fox analyst-type work. He was always fun to listen to when he provided the occasional WEC color commentary coverage
- Mad props to Aldo and Barao respectively. Teammates & both P4P champs
- Props to Ricardo Lamas for hanging in there and making things interesting at the end. No small feat to go 25 mins with the champ (of any division)
- Unfortunate about the quick stoppage in the main event ... Faber had more left in him, but needed to show more fight to ref Herb Dean aside from blocking the hammerfists & giving the thumbs-up that he was ok. He was only going to take additional damage on top of that as Barao had poured it on in the prior 1 - 2 mins once he'd found his range in the lead-off min' or so
- Where does Faber go from here? 4 wins in 2013, and a loss to start off 2014
- How many fights does CRUZ need once he returns to get his title shot with Barao?
- How long will Aldo and Barao each hold their 135 and 145 belts?
- Is Brock gonna retire? Dana said no in the post-fight presser
- How much plastic surgery has B. Palmer had done?
- I wish all 3 ringcard girls were thicker
- That said ... all 3 would still get the poundage
Yeah the ring girls are all lacking in the hips and backing....
Dana is an idiot....he promotes his ring girls more than the female division....
how in da hell were there no female bouts on the undercard yesterday....that is beyond me.....
Barao was only going to continue to be the dog shit outta Urinal Fable, Herb Dean's stoppage undermined the victory. Should have let him get pounded a little bit more to remove all doubt.
Dana White critical of Overeem's performance

"He comes out with a crappy performance, then he calls out a guy who doesn't even fight anymore. Not a great night for Alistair."
It's the UFC's fault Barao is underrated and under-appreciated. They should have made him the official champion long ago. Cruz is fragile as rice paper and held the belt for far too long. If Barao had been handling his biz without an asterisk next to his "title" wins, there would have been no choice, but to give full respect where it was due.Barao is definitely vastly underrated. Tough to say how long he'll be champ or how an eventual bout with Cruz 2.0 will play out, but he'll be ready. No pushover for anyone having beaten the likes of Pickett, Wineland. Faber x 2 & others since his last loss way back in '05.
Dana was right, though. He looked mediocre in that fight, didn't (couldn't?) finish and then called out a retired fighter he beat, but tested positive for roids afterwards. Bitch move. Dana talks shit, but when he's right, he's right. This time he was right.Someone needs to k.o Dana, he talks so much shit about his fighters.
The way he talks about grown men is ridiculous, no one should be allowed to talk that much shit..when is someone gonna fuck him up?
There it is. He could have finished Mir, but didn't because he was either playing it safe or too shook to risk getting finished himself. Neither of which make for grounds to call anyone out--much less a fighter retired due to health issues. Save calling anyone out for after spectacular win.I thought he looked good, he dominated the fight, he just didn't take no risk...yeah he could've called out JDS but he was just telling Brock to probably not come back.

Agreed. Enough already with that soundbyte in recent memory of Joe Rogan saying - "Renan Barao is a MONSTER!" - we get it. Show us more of his highlights. Do more features on him. Do more features on him and Aldo @ their gym in Brazil (considering they are both P4P elite in the sport). Not just the usual coverage expected from a UFC Countdown episode like last week. Give us more of his back story. The cat is a monster. Drive that point home repetitively ... especially because you're already (as UFC brass) complete Urijah Faber nuthuggers & know he's hugely marketable, the hoes love him, plus he was formerly the face of the WEC, etc.
You're making the case for why he should've stopped Mir. At one point, Mir was virtually a sitting duck, but duke refused to go in for the kill. You can't cruise like that against a shot fighter--even if you're dominating--in the UFC and think you can call out anyone. He was fighting for his job after a losing streak against another fighter fighting for his job on a losing streak. Under those circumstances, he needed to demolish Mir early, finish him in dramatic fashion and then hint that he's back and ready to face whoever. The way he did it was...Yeah he was trying to keep his job but DOMINATED MIR...the punch stats was ridiculous...like 140-10 or 140-3, he wasn't laying and praying, he pounded Mir from top position, he looked really good. I like Dana, enjoy his rants but he has "god syndrome"
Ming,
Another thing I'd like to see happen in MMA is more talented people brought in (from the general public) for marketing and such. Us all being fans and shit ... I'm sure we can all recall numerous incidents of FAN-MADE work/art that is much doper than the ads, posters, vidclips, countdown specials, highlight reels, and more that's done by the Zuffa/affiliated brass. Shit ... some of the old PRIDE highlight reel clips were legendary back in the day on Youtube and Peer-2-Peer programs. Or the cats out there these days making DOPE-ASS posters for PPV cards ... the many cats putting in work with dope-ass GIFs and MEMEs, etc. Zuffa and 'em need to recruit/hire some of these muthafuckas, on the real. There were some fan posters in 2013 which were WAY more hype than anything the big company did- that said - big ups to the companies involved in the boxing and MMA specials such as 24/7 and Primetime. Those ones are always legit as fuck.
And they actually paid someone to make this.![]()
