Yeah - it'll be interesting the next few year or two (or forever) without the marquee draws in place. Lesnar left in late-2011 ... GSP vacated in mid-November ... Anderson suffered the serious injury & subsequent injury in late-December ... those guys were MAJOR PPV DRAWS.
As for guys like Faber ... yeah ... they're poster boy types for the likes of the WEC and UFC. They want someone like him as champ because he's marketable. That said ... he's 1-1 lifetime against Cruz, and 0-1 versus Barao. Barao is the interim champ and has defended his strap. Cruz is the reigning champ in the division (but has been gone for 2+ years already) given his troubles with the ongoing injury rehab. Should be interesting how the BARAO-CRUZ title unification plays out next month ... both guys are legit, but we haven't seen Cruz in so long. As for Faber ... he definitely had a stellar 2013 ... man ... 4-0 for the year, after having only 1 fight in 2012. Like is often said ... he'll pretty much finish off anyone except the champs. Yeah but if Tate doesn t change her training staff she will continue to get her ass kicked....having her boyfriend as a trainer was good for a time...but now she needs a better group....
Ppl feel that she was arrogant and Tate is no angel she did some dirty stuff against Zingano....but...I think her biggest prob with Rousey was that she felt Rousey didn t pay her dues....I don t agree with that...esp since she went the Olympian route....which is honorable. In its own right....
I do think Dana needs to have atleast 1 - 2 female fights per ppv event though. .he s still underachieving in that regard some....

Great to see the Anderson photo with fam'. Caught it this morning via Facebook & always good to see someone on the mend ... especially after such a traumatic injury & experience. Just over a half week ago ... one of the last remaining photos we saw of him from 168 was people stretchered out screaming in agony ... minutes after the break. That just goes to show you the type of distress he was in ... as he clearly wasn't laying low & in shock ... he needed to visit the local ER asap.

Cats like Greg Jackson cheering and applauding any type of offense from their fighters, etc. Most of us assume the judges (especially shittier ones) can be influenced by same. It was good event to kick off UFC Fight Pass!!! They need to change the web page a little bit to make it easier to find fights, and I would like to see the Apple TV and iOS app before I can decide to keep it or not.
Tarec Saffiedene is a skilled fighter but he's like GSP doesn't go for / doesn't know how to finish!!!

Haven't had a chance to check out Fight Pass yet. Here in Canada they aired the card on the SN360 (Sportsnet 360) network which carries all the MMA, and I was able to find the prior prelims online later in the day.
As for Saffiedine ... yeah ... he's a skilled dude and chops people down with those leg kicks & switching up his own stance from orthodox to unorthodox ... giving them different looks and switching up his striking. The way he chopped down Marquardt and Lim respectively. Damn ... serious heart on Lim too. Had noted he had thought about quitting after the 3rd and 4th rounds, but stayed in it for the full 25 mins and he was STILL TRYING TO FINISH Saffiedine in the final 10 seconds ... still chasing him down (with 1 bum leg). Damn. They earned that bonus $

Yeah - it'll be interesting to see how the platform performs this year. The trial period throughout January and February, with it more fully launching come March 2014. I need to go back and watch plenty of the WEC and PRIDE content. Especially WEC ... my fave all-time organization (but I only caught WEC 33 - 53 from 2008 onward). I need to go back and see the earlier 2000s ... but shit ... they always delivered with Faber, Cruz, Jorgensen, Cerrone, Henderson, Varner, Swanson, Aldo, Benavidez, Torres, Brown, Pettis, and more.

I need to go back and see the earlier 2000s ... but shit ... they always delivered with Faber, Cruz, Jorgensen, Cerrone, Henderson, Varner, Swanson, Aldo, Benavidez, Torres, Brown, Pettis, and more.

It will be interesting to see how Barao-Faber II pans out. Faber couldn't catch a break in the first fight in the summer of 2012 breaking his rib in the 1st rib and having Barao piece him up for the duration of the fight. That said ... Faber only had 1 fight in 2012, and went 4-0 throughout 2013. Hopefully we see a more competitive match-up ... especially considering Faber has only lost in TITLE fights throughout his career. He wins everything else. Lastly ... sucks for Cruz ... will we ever see him back, and at what capacity? He'll be gone for well over 2 years by the time we see him back (probably this spring or summer).
