Interested in getting an aquarium (20 gal)

I know Petsmart has the Topfin Starter kit

Where do you go buy the other supplies like gravel for a decent price?

Where did you go buy your fish for a decent price? I know Walmart and Petsmart sell them. Jacks aquarium is expensive.
get your stuff from petsmart...don't buy fish from walmart:smh:

check out your local shops too

Be careful with big stores like Petsmart too. I was told they have 1 large filtration system running through all the tanks. They have the ability to isolate a tank if they suspect disease but usually its too late. I used to buy my feeder fish there thinking it didn't matter, but I realized that sometimes I would get ick after I got feeders there.

got this over the weekend
16 gallon bowfront
got some tiger barbed in there and some other stuff

The water still looks a little cloudy. What kind of filtration are you running, and what kind of fish do you ultimately plan to keep in it?

im using the filer that came with it.
maybe its the picture?
as far as freshwater fish go,the tigerbarbs are the only ones that really excite me

Are you serious? There are so many more interesting fish. I prefer cichlid. The water could be cloudy because your filter can't handle the bio load or it hasn't fully cycled.

What kind of food u dudes using.. I use pellets, but it seems the tank is dirty to shit after about three week..any suggestions?

If ur in Houston and ur tank did not come from fish gallery, u lost...

Never buy tanks from stores, check craigslist.

Never buy fish from walmart, also check craigslist and only get the ones that are dirt cheap or free.

What state are you in?

800 gallon,Eheim is the filter brand I think..and I have about 30 cichlids... I feed them about two teaspoon....

Excuse my ignorance

 800gals. I've had many tanks and many filters, the best filter/s I've used is fluval filters and the marineland bio wheel hang on filters. Show me a pic of your tank with the dirty water. It can be either the tank is getting too much light and what you think is cloudy from food is actually too much algae or it could be you need to add another filter. I feed my fish a variety of food including pellets and worms (from walmart) i treat them to every now and then.

800gals ..............geezus i want one of those.

wait, oh the filter is 800gal rated. how big is the tank

ok, I can see you ballin...

my guess is 110, 125, or 150 gal, definitely a bow tank with the stand. that shit cost you over a grand. the filter alone is around $300.

The water looks nice but i see its next to the window plus you are using sand. My guess is that the dirty water is not coming from the food. Is the filter clean?

Hell naw...... thats a good filter.

 You have people come and clean your tank?

cichlids like to dig also and they maybe fighting and stirring up the sand. I am just guessing. I have sand in all of my tanks and never had that type of problem. I think your tank may be getting too much light. send me a pic next time it gets cloudy.

The maintenance was included within the price..( a year 10k damn near)

Will do my nigga... Thanks again for the help...

No problem let me know if i can help with anything else. But they should've told you that cichlids don't like plants. when they get big enough they will move them around.

I just scooped an 8ft. long 2 1/2 ft wide 240gal. custom tank. Im currently having a cabinet built for it. I'll have some pics up next month, due to the fact that im looking to move next month. I found the tank on craigslist for 500.00 easy.

Here is my tank i picked up 2 weeks ago its euro style 45gallon..it was on sell at petsmart.. I got the stand and tank for 300. I had a 10gallon tank with 2 huge goldfish in it.. now they have more room.. I add live plants in the form of those two giant green balls, they are suppose to help with algae and stuff.

I will be putting up a background this weekend, the damn fish keep thinking someone is looking at them and stare at the back of the tank.. :)
