**SPOILER** - Major Faction Returning To TNA?
Source: Pwinsider.com
According to sources, with the return of Scott Steiner at last night's iMPACT! tapings, it appears that TNA is building to the return of the Main Event Mafia. Kurt Angle will likely lead the stable, and Dixie Carter may also be involved as they battle Immortal.
There is no word on if Booker T will be brought back. He had been in discussions to return to WWE, but the negotiations broke down. Both sides remain on good terms.
After they finish this Immortal story line shit, I don't wanna see a faction story in TNA for a couple of years. Russo has run this faction crap into the ground. First Team Canada, then the MEM, and now Immortal. I'm fine with Fortune because of Flair excluding AJ as a member but every thing else has run its course.
TNA has superior in ring talent and sub par writing. If they would get rid of Brishof and give Paul Heyman the creative control and focus back on the matches TNA would be back on the right track. I got interested in TNA because of the X Division, they need to bring in new talent for the X Division and create some new tag teams.
Factions are a known money maker but you're right, Russo, even before Bischoff and Hogan got there, ran this into the ground and they need to take a break from it. Before Immortal it was Fortune, before them the Main Even Mafia. You named Team Canada, how about the Kings of Wrestling (Jarrett, Hall, and Nash). Jarrett had another unnamed group with AMW and Gail Kim. Russo just doesn't have any new ideas and Dixie, not really being "of the business" can't recognize that, and that hurts TNA.
Goldberg didn't have the longevity but name someone besides stone cold, rock, or the nwo that made as big an impact during that time. Miz said something along the lines of legend being associated with old and i know he was doing a promo but there is truth to it. Stonecold wrestled for a long time but didn't make an impact until 96 and he was done by 02, Rock made his impact in 98 and was done by 04 and the nwo was the hottest thing going between 96-98 so imo impact>longevity.
Goldberg could go in but not now when there are plenty of wrestlers who should go in before him.
Goldberg's impact was incredible but it was incredibly shortlived, and much of that not his fault. I think it's a better comparison to make between him and Rock and not Austin. Austin had a long record of great and memorable matches, promos, and angles long before 96 so to say he hadn't made an impact isn't quite correct. Same with the nWo. That group was made up, originally, of a certified legend, a top midcarder with a good track record, and a definite main eventer. Those guys were already "somebodies" before they got together.
Having made a huge splash shouldn't count more than maintaining a high level of excellence (including being able to draw) for a long period of time. Bill Goldberg can't go in before the Freebirds or Tully Blanchard, guys who haven't wrestled in well over a decade and a half but still get mentioned in reverential tones. That's impact.
