New Year's Day card, muthafuckas. Who's taking it? EDGAR OR MAYNARD? Stann or Leben? Silva or Vera? Diaz or Kim? Guida or Gomi? Should be some good battles. Really looking forward to some fireworks from Guida/Gomi and hopefully they can showcase some speed in there. Pt. II of Edgar and Maynard (the only 2 guys to beat Jim Miller over the years) with Maynard having won their first bout some years back. Who's next for Anthony Pettis later in 2011 at 155lbs? Also, note that the SPIKE PRELIMS are airing on ION TV (United States), ESPN UK (overseas), and ROGERS SPORTSNET (Canada). So make sure to set your Tivos, PVRs, DVRs, or VCRs if you won't be home for that portion of the lead-in to the main card itself. Catch the weigh-ins live online (Friday, Dec. 31st) and of course the event on Saturday night (January 1st, 2011).

That Maynard dude is good. I was also impressed with Frankie Edger beating BJ Penn twice. BJ Penn was supposed to be one of the best but beated twice by Edgar. It just goes to show that wrestling is better than Jiu Jitsu. Edgar may take this one cause he tasted defeat from Maynard in the past. Now he should know how to beat him and improve.

As far as Silva and Vera goes, both are on losing streaks but I think Vera can pull it off. I think he is the better fighter. Thiago Silva's grappling sucks. He only has his punching power.

Yes - I'm looking forward to the event. It'll be nice to get 3 bouts (for sure) on the undercard, and possibly one more (if they run quickly). That's what's guaranteed. Looking forward to GUIDA/GOMI ... BARONI/TAVARES should have some fun standup ... fan of both EDGAR/MAYNARD as they've both proven themselves to us all in recent years ... haven't seen much of SILVA and last remember him against Rashad Evans when he had (Silva) the bad back ... VERA's been out of action for awhile after BONES JONES ran through him earlier in 2010, etc.

Maybe, but wrestling has proved time and time again to be the greatest factor.

Antonio McKee is an underrated fighter. He has beaten many Brazillian fighters. I think he is championship material.

Pulling for Edgar too. I hope he has a chance to defend his title a few times. Maynard is no joke though - good power/wrestling.

Leben's tough. Had a really solid 2010 and got his game back on track. Stann is no joke though. Good stand-up and he was no joke and did his thing in the WEC a handful of years back when they had the heavier weight classes.

Silva's tough but we haven't seen him in awhile. Vera needs to prove something after a dissapointing couple of years now, and a demolishing at the hands of Bones Jones in the first 1/2 of 2010.

Diaz is a tough cat. It'll be a good match-up against Kim (undefeated).

Gomi's got good power. He looked terrible against Florian, and excellent against Griffin. Should be cool to see how he does this bout. Big fan of Guida though and he's a total fan fave and brings it all the time. He's looking good under Jackson's MMA of late too.

If Frankie refuses to participate in the wrestling which is what most fighters don't do, he should have an easy sparring session on Maynard. Easier said than done, but if you pops right back up like Chuck used to do, and Cain just did against Brock speed kills and he can pick Gray apart.
Hopefully Silva will be on his murder shit and we can rid the division of Vera. I like his laid back attitude, but how many fucking chances is he going to get to get in the cage and lay an egg. He is the biggest underachiever in the UFC and many that have done far more have lost their spot on the roster.

I think the UFC didn't give McKee a fair shot because of his style and because he was not finishing his fights. Meanwhile they made stars out of Fitch and Guida..go figure. He finished his last two and now they give a nigga a shot at fucking 40 years old. I hope he gets at these young muthafuckas like B-hop.

As far as the card...anytime you got a Diaz brother and Leben getting it on, it's worth checking out.

Man, I'm psyched. I see 4 great matches in Gomi-Guida, Kim-Diaz, Silva-Vera, and Maynard-Edgar. There are some very good undercard matches as well.
