Swann shouldnt be there. He's proof that the voters fuck up sometime. Dude was a kiss ass who benefited from being a media guy and politic's.

Another example of Rice's dominance is his performance against Deion Sanders, considered by many as the best coverage cornerback of all-time. From 1989 to 1996, Rice and Sanders faced off ten times, with Rice compiling 60 receptions for 1,051 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns against Sanders' teams (this would project to approximately 96 receptions for 1682 yards and 18 touchdowns in 16 games). Rice's teams won six of the ten games. To Sanders credit, Deion had 4 interceptions for 58 yards and 0 touchdowns in those ten games. Rice played against Sanders' teams twelve times, but Sanders did not play in two of those games (once in 1992 and once in 1993).
Like I said man Irvin was the start of the WR that "beat up" the DB. Again you basing it on stats. Shit for that matter If Im not mistaken Joe Montana isnt top 5 in anything....yet he's widely considered the best ever. That doesnt mean shit.
How do you think Alvin harper was able to get single coverage? Why do you think the middle was open for Novacek? Because 88 was being double teamed.
And don't forget Jake Reed. Jake had 4 straight 1000 yard seasons.
I dont get the hate on Irvin...not going to repeat any of the stats because they have already been posted by you cats.. but Only Irvin and Rice consistently abused Deion Sanders because they were perfect route runners...
Sanders got nothing but ABUSE from Rice.

i'm still trying to figure out how Dan Hampton is in over Richard Dent.
Is that something to be ashamed of?
All that abuse early in his career didn't do anything but make him a better CB.
Put down the crack please sir. Curtis Martin is best player on that list. He and Deion should get in.Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, Curtis Martin and Jerome Bettis are all eligible next year.
I'd only pick Marshall and Deio out of those four
Oh yes it does. Joe has the most Superbowl MVPs out of any player: 3
I don't know what games you were watchin, or if you are even old enough to remember. Irvin was not being double teamed. The nigga was slow. And looking at his lack luster borderline garbage stats, he wasn't worthy of a double team.
How was Alvin Harper catchin those balls and making big plays? hmmmm, could it have something to do with the FACT that he set the All Time High School High Jump record in Florida and was a 2 time SEC High Jump Champion in College?

Because I know a shitload more than you about sports and wanna educate you.
Man, I heard some reporter the other day saying he wouldn't vote for Sharpe, if he had a vote, b/c he was just a "pass catcher". He never blocked or anything. While I agree, the man was a beast. And he leads all TE's in TD's. In my opinion, if 5 get in it's Deion, Curtis Martin, Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, and Chris Carter. Sorry Sharpe. He would get in the year after next.
... Chris Carter was the Vikings in the 90s before Moss came along...
I'd call Chris Carter one of the ten best at his position. During the 90's you don't think he was one of the top three receivers?
He was a 8 time pro bowler. Plus what QB's did he have?
To state some more
Tim Brown was a 9 time pro bowler
Andre Reed was a 7 time pro bowler
Shannon Sharpe was a 8 time pro bowler
Art Monk was a 3 time pro bowler
Russ Grimm was a 4 time pro bowler
The Vikings were putting up big numbers on offense prior to Moss.
Again, Jake Reed and Chris Cater were 2 receivers you HAD TO DOUBLE TEAM. Where does that leave Moss? In single coverage. He'll win that battle most of the time, unless you get physical with him (Moss is not physical at all), Revis proved that. Hell, Revis himself sad Moss was lazy.
In 2 years Rod Smith better be on the first HOF ballot:
Rec: 849
Yards: 11389
TDs: 68
Superbowl wins: 2
And he better get in.
Put down the crack please sir. Curtis Martin is best player on that list. He and Deion should get in.
Never in my life that a tight end who won 3 Superbowls,2 quality teams,8 pro-bowls, and all the records at his position cant get into the Hall of Fame.........If they make Tony Gonzalez first ballot Im gonna be pissed![]()
NFL HOF is not about numbers. The Baseball HOF is SOLELY about numbers.
Honestly man I respect football voters for this. The Hall of Fames as a whole are getting too "crowded". Shit is becoming the "Hall of very Good". To me you have to dominant. Not just putting up stats for years. Thats not necessarily domination. Shit look at Drew Bledsoe and Kerry Collins. Both of those cats (if memory serves me right) are top 10 in yards and alot of other stats all time, but neither one of them will sniff the hall. Cris Carter was very good.. I wouldnt call him an all time great.
Carter never excelled in the playoffs, he never was "the" man on "the" team. To me a Hall of Famer is someone to be revered, someone who made a profound impact on the game. Example, Carter and Moss could have the same stats and Moss would get in over him just based on impact. Moss was "THE" WR in the NFL for multiple years. He impacted the game, his position like no one in a long time. And for that Moss will likely get in first ballot..
Basically this is my take on it, I wouldnt be mad if he got in, but I have no problem with him not making it.

I agree.Hall Of Fames in general are watered down.IMO you have to be THE GUY to get in.Rice was THE GUY,Barry Sanders was THE GUY,Moss was THE GUY,Singletary,Montana,Tim Brown,Deon...All of these guys were the most talked about players in every game.Opposing teams spent 90% of their time trying to shut them down. Some of these other guys were good and played in multiple Pro Bowls, but were necessarily HOF material.I think winning should be a factor, but not a BIG factor.Alot of times winning has little to do with a player but more the organization, system and of course team.IMO the "winning" thing gained momentum to let more white players shine.
I will say this I think Revis will be a good cornerback but talking trash about an aging receiver isnt gonna give you points in my book......I mean Moss can still ball but I will guarantee that he wouldnt open his mouth on a younger Moss.....especially if Moss would of had a legit quarterback for most of his career...
I think the winning thing is more so for the QB position.
