yeah, if i bought the droid i don't think i'd root right a way. Your not out of space yet, i doubt developers have came up with a nice package of apps and tweaks yet. I'd just enjoy the factory shyt for a few months, then by that time, when u root, it'll feel like u just bought a new phone.

I haven't been checkn for any new g1 apps or os, anybody found anything new?

I downloaded the Droid system dump and installed the new facebook app but other than that im waiting until they figure out how to make the navi work

Those nat service providers' fears were actually quite justified. Google today unveiled Maps Navigation (beta, of course), an extremely upgraded version of its current Maps software that'll be free and, from what we understand, available by default on all Android 2.0 devices. All the usual Maps features are present, including the ability to search by name of business and have it suggest the closest matches, both semantically and geographically, and traffic data. We're also now looking at turn-by-turn navigation, female robotic voice and all, and integration with satellite and street view, the latter of which will be able to show you what lane you need to be in when exiting the highway, for example. Instead of just searching nearby, it'll also now search along the route for when you're looking for upcoming gas stations or fast food joints that won't take you too far off your beaten path. Select addresses can be added to the Android home screen as their own icons, and given the limits of living in the cloud, trips and their respective visual feeds will be cached just in case you hit dead spots along the way. Still no multitouch, but as VP of Engineering Vic Gundotra noted at a press conference, there's nothing stopping a company like HTC from adding that feature à la Sense UI.

In addition to demonstrating the basic navigational functions, Gundotra also showcased a new user interface that appears when the device hooked up into a car dock, one that is intended for use "at an arm's length away." Essentially, it means much larger iconography and a convenient "voice search" option front and center. We later got confirmation from a Google product manager that car dock detection was definitively a hardware-based feature, which we take to mean Android devices currently on the market won't necessarily have the same convenience. If Android 2.0 takes off how Google (and Verizon!) hope it does, companies like TomTom and Garmin are going to seriously need to worry about their bottom line.

Game Changer......

keep hearing about android 2.0(eclair)i take it its coming to g1's and mytouches etc too, right?

not the g1 not enough space left in phone. the mytouches more likely. i'm so tempted to jump to verizon but tmo has been good to me...imma give them a couple months to drop a droid like tmo device if not i'm out or i'm buying the gsm unlocked droid would suck to run it on edge but fuck it.

Time to drop this G1 and get that mytouch or that HTC touch pro 2

yes to all your questions, if u have a gmail account simply send yourself an invite. I'm not sure of the type of phone u say u have but i'm assuming its an Android phone. If it is you can go to market type in google voice and you'll get an app called gv, it's similar but not the same. With google voice u have a couple of options, u can send certain numbers straight to voicemail or there's another option to block selected callers. When they call your number they'll get an operator saying the number is no longer in service. Not funny if they call back from another number.:smh: I've never used the app in market called gv but I do currently use Google Voice. I hear there's now an option to use Google Voice with the number assigned from your carrier, that's great, so now i can have personalized greetings for all my contacts.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A2TBNVZQ <=The Re-up

Im in Cali right now and MAN this shit has came in handy. Way better than a TOMTOM or that garmin shit. BTW, I drove past the Google offices yesterday and damn near did a tuck n roll out my girl ride to go fuck with them ppl :lol::lol::lol:

Thanks playa! so this gives voice turn by turn? Is it better than Copilot? I'm definitely gonna try this one, I like copilot but I hate the slow startup, also whenever i answer a call or make a call---afterwards I have to start copilot all over again, shyt by the time it restarts i might have missed a turn.

question for the modded G1 users using different ROMS. How much RAM do you normally use??? What app/widget to you use to gauge that? I have tried a couple of different ones and they all show me pushing between 70-80% of my RAM @ any given time while Im on my home screen. My processor load always stays low. Is this normal? I have 6 widgets running and about 10 shortcuts on 3 homescreens. I use ATK and autostarts to keep things from running in the background withoout me knowing or loading @ startup. Im currently running Cyan 4.2.3.1.. I switched to that from the most recent JF ROM because I was getting similiar stats and I didnt think it was right, plus it was unstable.. crashed often.. Cyan is smooooth.

What are you cats using for Amon-Ra's v1.3.2.. but Im a little confused with the whole Fat32/ext3/ linux swap shit... anyone that can offer and info, it would be appreciated..
Thanks in advance.

whats so great about the mytouch??? looks like a G1 without the keyboard. I thought there was gonna be a G2??

Can some one help me out?

I had a G1 that started acting up so I got a new one sent to me. The G1 that I was replacing had 1.6. The newer one that I recv'd came with 1.5 and not 1.6.

WITHOUT ROOTING is there any way that I can download/install 1.6? Maybe from a reputable website or something??

Is there anybody willing to PM me a Google Voice invite Please. I've requested through Google directly (a few times) but got no response from them. Seems like most people are getting their invites within a week. I think it's cause I'm black.

*sigh*

So im needing more space on my SD, so I goto delete a partition [ext3] and it causes a meltdown. All my apps have dissappeared and marketplace wouldnt work for SHIT. Then after recovery, I lost my ROOT and just everything went to SHIT.

Im attempting to ROOT again and get this bullshit str8 or im just gonna fucking shoot myself
