I did the manual update to 1.6 on my G1 and wow...system is faster my apps upgraded to 1.6 few days ago and I have not had a problem yet.
Are you able to preview the home screen in landscape and does it have mutli-touch?
multi touch not until dec with 2.0...what do u mean by preview the home screen? I think this update got rid of useless files n made the phone faster n run better.
When you turn you phone to the the long way (horizontal) on the main screen, does the phone adjust to landscape?
oh yeah....i think u gotta turn it on i did from 1.5 but i had to do it with the screen. Now it does it auto when u turn the phone
I got an uodate today and mine doesnt do that
Auto Rotate is in the settings. And they have widgets for that, The one I use is called "AutoRotate OnOff" just tap it and it switches it on and off like magic. Another app that will help speed up the animation from switching screen and a nice liitle touch for the auto rotate is called "spare parts" Tweaks a few things here and there.
I had Handcent and it was cool for a min but got kinda annoyin after a while. Its the same base on ChompSMS with a few diff tweaks. But Handcent is a nice SMS app
Copilot live, dang i see ngz ain't reading my post in this thread. I've plugged Copilot live several times. Shyt has voice directions, loud and clear or get audio hack. Its precise, real talk. It gives traffic updates, nearest restaurants, gas stations, etc...... Copilot is the shyt, trust me.

I haven't got past the first page yet, but I sure hope as I go through all them damn pages, somebody will say something about how to get the "Google Experience" apps easily on the phone. Actually right now i'm very happy with this Cyanogen 4.1.11.1, so I don't see myself flashing just yet.......but when i get some time i'll scroll down all those pages to see what's the what with Cyanogen's latest release (v4.1.99).

nevermind my above post, i skimmed through the current 30 something pages and talked to buddy who's like a professional with all that shyt. Everybody seems to be saying this lastest version is slower than 4.1.11.1. I've read through tooooooooo many force closes, apps not working, and error messages with the mytouch 3g. This internet cat who's been on xda forever informed me he believes this 4.1.11.1 is the best and I agree out of the 3 roms i've flashed. I'll wait a while, Cyanogen drops an update like every 2 weeks, he keeps his name out there, but it sounds like this should've been a beta. I still haven't got a word about how or if u can install the google experience apps on to the phone with the latest Cyanogen.

I'm happy with 4.1.11.1 as well. I don't think I'll be flashing a new ROM anytime soon.

did you get the new update fam??? The new speech software if 10x better than ANYTHING thats ever been in the marketplace. I couldnt get any of them to work too well, this on is SMOKIN!! They also tweaked the camera's layout a bit.. and incorporated a cam/vid switch. Im @ the point now that I just run the normal layout, no themes or nothing.. much better performance. I love the fact that Android is staying on top of things!

There are plenty of ROMs to choose from but about 85% of use G1 users choose Cyanogen. He updates damn near every other day and improves the speed of your phone and other tweaks that he has added.
You know if you have any question about just drop em here and we can help ya out

Just found out that google has nullified the 1-click method
so go with the step by step instructions.
BTW does anyone know how-to install custom boot screens. I got the damn image but i cant install it. A bunch of half ass instructions dont do the trick

chompSMS is a tight prog beacuse of the "blackslist" feature but it dont mean shit if you can look in the factory install SMS prog and anybody can read ya text. thats why that shit gotta go.

Whats good Royal? Whats new? Anything hot hit the marketplace lately? Im bout to install Copilot now.. Im waiting until I finish downloading a cpl states. I wish I had a larger SD card.. the entire US is almost 2GB, I think thats all I have in total.

If im not mistaken...the regular messaging app has that feature as well...but again i say...i could be wrong. And rooting ya phone has nothing to do with a firmware/ROM update. Once rooted you just have to re-flash the stock 1.6 ROM over again or choose another of your liking. Cyanogen is the only ROM out without any google apps attached to it but from what ive seen u cant uninstall any of the pre-installed apps....but then again...lol. Just remember if your using a custom rom for the first time...backup anything u need for later and wipe the phone for a fresh install so u wont have 20 thousand force closes.

Tried installing Copilot.. keep getting the msg: Copilots codes can not be loaded by the system.
Any thoughts or ideas? On the forum/thread link provided a person mentioned having the same issue yesterday. Post hasnt been responded to.

Installation:
* If you never had CoPilot installed before:
o Just install cracked Copilot .apk and you're done!
* If you already have / had CoPilot (non-cracked) installed:
o Uninstall CoPilot.
o IMPORTANT: Delete folder /sdcard/copilot/save
All other content (Maps, Settings, ..) in /sdcard/copilot/ is no problem!
o Install cracked Copilot .apk
o Done, no more activation / trial!
* If you have a previously cracked CoPilot installed:
o Just update to the latest cracked version and you're done!
Again, please tell me if it works for you!
Troubleshooting:
* Help! I can't get it working - is there a fail-save method of installing?
o Uninstall CoPilot.
o Delete everything in the copilot folder on your sdcard.
(/sdcard/copilot/)
o Make a new folder "save" in your empty copilot folder.
(/sdcard/copilot/save/)
o Download the Map you want to use and copy the .pds file to the folder "save" we just created.
(/sdcard/copilot/save/Mapname.pds)
o Download & install my cracked Copilot .apk
o Done!
* CoPilot does not show POIs in my Map (3D Mode)
Just go to Settings -> Mapdisplay (Kartenanzeige in german) -> Uncheck "Show 3D Landmarks".
* My music player is flooded by CoPilot Sounds
Place an empty file named .nomedia in your /sdcard/copilot/ folder.

been workn alot, my computer stays on, so it probably always shows me logged on to bgol and a shyt load of other sites.
Been so busy I haven't checked for any new apps, sometimes I'll also give market and some android apps sites a break for a couple of week and hopefully when I return they'll have several new apps!

I haven't really got any new apps this week, , but once again I recommend sim checker (the last time i flashed, it sent me an email with the exact location I was at. Vault keeps my text messages, contacts and much more protected from crazy girls who like to snoop through a ngz phone. In the link above they have beautiful widgets! If u have a rooted phone beautiful widgets is a must, since u can have up to 10 home screens. I'm using 5 home screens.

I been looking for this one! I love mybackup pro since I flash roms alot but this is my shyt because it automatically sends sms, mms, call log, etc... straight to my gmail account! gotta luv it. A year ago I never thought gmail would've been my main email, but with all the features, my phone, google experience it is! This is my shyt right here! i've talked about it on a couple of other post. atakephone, but there is one frustrating problem i'm having with it----maybe it's the version i'm using, i'm gonna dl another copy or reinstall. The problem i'm having isn't a big problem for many, but i'm usually always on the go and need to do things promptly. When i press on atakephone it seems to take about 6 or 7 seconds to open as compared to 1 second when i press dialer. if anybody else has it let me know if yours is fast. This is a different version from the 1 I dl so it may be faster, i'll try it later. I like this program because to me the dialer and call log looks much better than the stock and any theme dialer.

kewl, props to Drizzy, I think one of my boys said he's a brotha. did this video say bluetooth works? Anyways it looks kewl, a little laggy at times, too much ish seems to not be working. The people who seem to run towards hero and drizzy's roms seem to go for looks over performance. Cyanogen roms if flashed correctly run better than the factory issued rom and any other shyt developers have dropped for the g1. A friend has hero, she thought it was the bomb until she played with my phone. Hero is good for widgets, infact the widgets attract a lot of people. I recommend beautiful widgets, also going to market and doing a widget search. I was once attracted to all these different themes when I realized the main attraction of many themes was the widgets that came with them. I'm not knocking Drizzy's roms, i'm just saying lookn at the features and programs it looks like a step down from Cyanogen. It seems most people on xda agree Cyanogen is the fastest and most stable. But, soon as Drizzy puts together a complete rom (stable with bluetooth, more apps, and faster) I think I'm gonna give this brotha a try. He been doin his thang for a minute, I give him much props. Shyt I give him props for the name alone, it's good to see a brotha in the mix on xda droppn dope roms.

Before the update e ao to my yahoo account and check my mail .... since the update i have not been able to open my email ... it keeps force closing ...
did u get an over the air update or did u update manually?
I'd try deleting that yahoo account from your phone and set it up again.
