X-MEN: LEGACY
X-MenLegacy208Cover.jpg

X-Men: Legacy continues the aftermath of Messiah CompleX, centering on the lives of Professor X, Magneto, Rogue and Gambit. With the X-Men no more, mutantkind must look to the past as they move forward into a future like you’ve never seen before! Similar to the acclaimed X-Men: Deadly Genesis, this ongoing series promises to reveal shocking secrets about your favorite mutants while also launching a bold new era for the X-Men.

here are some quotes from tha i agree with when i saw this...

"More retconning of the past? I'd prefer simply moving forward building new original ideas, not stomping over what has gone before. Prof X had a crush on teenage Jean... Prof X had an X-Men team we didn't know about.... Gwen Stacy actually slept with Norman Osborn and had kids.... Peter Parker's parents were SHIELD agents.... House of Ideas?"

"I can't believe that Marvel thinks that equating Legacy to Deadly Genesis is going to actually encourage anyone to buy it."
COSIGN

"Just when I thought I was in, they push me back out.
Just who acclaimed X-Men: Deadly Genesis?
How many more "shocking secrets" do they have left to reveal after 40+ years?
How many times have the X-Men faced a "bold new era"?
How many times have we heard "the X-Men are no more"?
And why do they insist on dicking with the title again?
I give up on the X-Men."

"The Xavier/Magneto focus reminds me of the post-Morrison "Excalibur", where they were on genosha. Only instead of Calisto, Shola, and some new characters, we have Gambit and Rogue. Omega Sentinal is even a common element.

I agree with the "no more secret pasts. no more retcons" sentiment. However, I would like the much retconned and altered (even by Claremont retconning himself at times) history of the pre-x-men x-men cleared up.
So Mike Carey and co, if you are listening, hear this plea: Please do not add anything new to the history of the X-men, instead, look for ways to make previous additions to make sence.
Example 1: Sage being an early recruit for Xavier sent to spy on the Hellfire club, But in the Dark Pheonix saga only Warren had ever heard of them, and he thought they were just a social club. And Xavier's thought ballons in the New Mutants graphic novel said he didn't trust Tessa, which is an odd thought for someone he was conspiring with.
Example 2: Storm having met the x-men in "the hidden years" series, but in Giant Size#1 she didn't know who Xavier was.
Also, Wolverine having met just about everyone before he joined the X-Men. Sure he lost his memories, but what's everybody else's excuse?
And what about Kitty's Dad being Xavier's war buddy?
What about Moira MacTaggert's early involvement? How come Magneto didn't know he had all those lost kids? Why did nobody know Magneto's real name for so long?
There are hundreds of conflicting retcons to clear up. This would be an excellent time."
so tell me how you feel about this:cool:

Everything you're saying is what made me give up on "mainstream" super hero comics in the first place. How many times can they do the same shit over and over again?

you have to take into account that comics have ALWAYS operated under the assumption that the comic buyer is only in the game for about 2 to 5 years.

back in the day (50's and 60's) they used to just REPEAT the EXACT same story over and over for that time period because they figured the newer readers hadn't seen the last time they did it.

this is why i tend to enjoy closed-ended stories (like much of manga, they do story arcs then end the series until a new chapter can begin)

i'll follow certain books until the artist leaves or story arc has ended. i don't think i'll keep up with Ultimates 3 any longer, it is nothing like what attracted me to that title in the first place.

I been a comic book reader for almost 20yrs and i understand the point, but shyt is a comoc book not real life history. You rather very acurate time line and weak story or switch a lil minor crap up to get a great story.

but that spiderman shyt def was big bullshyt, let his grandmother die, let him go rogue to the point where he turns back into that man spider crap.

Switching a little minor thing like making xavier in to an ass for sending Vulcan and the rest to there doom and not telling Scott or the rest about it. the shit in astonishing x-men with the danger room computer murkin the kids in the school. he knew about it but he did nothing to stop it. The completely change him. prof.x was all ways the inspiration for other back when i was a kid, don't see why they had to change that:smh:

For some reason People seem to think dark and edgy is needed to sell comics..

It's a reason Why I pick up the X-men seldomly after they changed Psylocke into a bimbo. Legion is where it's at for me. Even though it's been retconned to hell. It's still a fun book to read. TWD is aother book. They'll close out the curent storyline , then do an aftermath storyline.

Marvel needs to leave the X-men alone...seriously.

X-FORCE #1

X-Force01Cover.jpg

In the wake of Messiah CompleX, the X-Men are no more, but some threats to mutantkind must be dealt with permanently by the new mutant strike force of Wolverine, X-23, Warpath and Wolfsbane! The hotly anticipated X-Force #1, from the acclaimed writing duo of Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost and rising star artist Clayton Crain, brings Cyclops’ mutant black ops team into conflict against the mutant-hating Purifiers…and there are deadly consequences! The all-new X-Force must accept the ramifications of their mission that’s so secret not even the most trusted members of the X-Men can ever learn about it!

“This series is packed full of action and intrigue,” says series editor John Barber, “If you’ve liked Messiah CompleX, you’ll love X-Force. These are the characters that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, or to take the fight to the bad guys. And when the bad guys are the Purifiers assembling a truly terrifying group of the worst villains mutantkind has ever faced, no quarter will be asked and none given!”

:eek:the first to the fifth issue will have the highest body count in a X book in a while:yes:

where is hepzibah??????????

hopefully they did not just kill her off. But with there track record who knows:rolleyes:

I saw previews with Caliban in the group too.

I was one of those people that, every month, bought every X-Book.
But once i stopped reading and came back 10 years later I just couldn't get back in to them.
They completely lost their appeal, once they started adapting the books to fit the movies.
This is just not what i want from the X-Men. They went too mainstream.

If you ever read some of those classic X-Men stories then you know what I mean.

I;m hearing nothing but good thing about the Messiah Complex but I still can't get into it.

I can completely relate ... I stopped collecting many moons ago too. Once Chris claremont left (the first time) the books weren't the same. When he came back I had hope and started buying em again but put em down and ain't never purchase another X-Men book again.

Thanks to Linker I can get em here but I don't feel like I'm missing nothin'

I always look as Aunt May as his grandmother too.
I'm sure 99% of America does also.

 but her name is AUNT May........

i mean, her place in the family is embedded in her name.....:hmm:

I never understood why she looked so old either. I mean she was White Haired when Pete was still in High School. They should have made her Younger.

Makes you wonder How big the age difference was btw. Uncle Ben and Richard Parker.

I always thought that Aunt May was Peters parent's aunt (his great aunt). so she would be around the same age as his grandparents.
I don't know how true that is. i never really checked into his family history.

EDIT: I was wrong she is his Aunt by marriage. So i don't know why they made her and Uncle Ben so much older than his parents.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #17

Double trouble for the League! First, in the lead story written by Alan Burnett, a mysterious and familiar team from beyond time has infiltrated the Hall of Justice looking for a weapon.
Will Black Lightning be their first victim? And wait ‘til you see who they are!
Plus, writer Dwayne McDuffie begins a very special back-up story exploring what’s wrong with Vixen's powers. And when her condition worsens, it leads to a new arc and major change for the Leaguer!
