Well actually the atmpsphear is traveling at the same volocity (or close to it) as the ground, so just like when you toss a ball up on a airplane thats traveling at 500 mphs, it will land back into your hand. A launched rocket will carry its conservation of momentum it had on the ground, allowing it to land close by. This is how people who shoot up hobby rockets can retrive it back nearby.

Why is the angle of the dome of visible stars different in NY than it is in Australia? Or at the Equator? If the dome is greater than the size of the Earth, the angle would always be the same wherever you are on Earth.

That was my point, that rocket didn't really go anywhere (vertically or distance wise), so what was the point, what did he prove.
The flat earth theory is that if you send a rocket up high, it will land relatively close to where it was launched.......
Which for a few hundred feet is pretty much exactly what will happen. You need to get up thousands of feet and then see where it lands.
In both models, the rocket should land close to where it took off from, one due to no motion and the other due to the conservation of momentum.
So bringing it up as evidence for either model doesn't make sense.
