How rare is it to bench 225? (NFL Combine Standard)

225 is literally starter weight. 135 -185 is barely warming up.

i dont understand people saying that is fat boy weight. that shit was standard back in high school and is still standard at the gyms i work out at. i wrestled varsity 160 (weighed btwn 155-160 as a junior/senior) in high school and was expected to rep 225.

anyone hitting reps of 225 is regular.

that 315+ weight for reps is when people begin to take notice.
They say it's intermediate. I don't max out at 225; I warm up and work out with 225. I lift it about 100 to 120 times while supersetting it with about 6 other exercises per session. That doesn't include dumbbell curls. I'm maxing out at 280 now.

There is truth to that though. A vast majority of human beings not only cannot bench press 225 but have never even attempted it. Which makes 315lbs even rarer. My max is 515lbs.

Facts. 300+ felt like it was tearing my arms off. Shit wasn't easy for me at all.

if i put in an honest effort to train in that capacity (i never have) i could get 3 plates. I've benched 295 for a couple reps on 2 or 3 different occasions.

JW13 and killamayne are strong as shit.

Yep, I hit 300 plus a few times in the desert while deployed. It still wasn't east, though. I didn't get videos of those, but 225 is warm-up stuff for me. I posted a video in Killamayne thread.

I'm almost tempted to test this theory...

I think he's right, fam. When I did something similar, it did work, but again, 300 plus for me hurt bad. Everything. I forgot to talk about warming and doing triceps work. But this is a good formula. One thing nobody has talked about is the negatives. Get on the Smith machine. If you can work out with 225, put 270 on the Smith machine, then break it and try to count to 1 minute and lower it. Slooooowly....Put keepers/failsafe in place and do it again for 6 reps per set. It'll set your arms on fire. It'll help blast you through if you can take it. Once a week if you can. Some don't need that though.

May try it too. But I swear if I do it'll be my last time trying to go over 300 pounds. MAn fuck that!

Some MFs will swear they put that up and 400lbs, etc, in grade school, high school, etc., and I'd tend to believe it, but I only have two words. Prove it. :hmm:
I'm not gone even lie I never cracked 3 bills...

I got to about 285, 290lbs for my 1rm but that was it. I've been told I can get it by others based on what I workout with when doing dumbbell bench press (115lbs) but I never tried. I may give it a go just to say I did it.

I'm about to be 43 in a couple weeks & I was throwing up 225 (minimum of 3 sets & 12 reps) this morning. I've been on that iron for almost 20 years straight & I never took roids, just regular supplements.

I'm not a big dude either (167lbs). If it wasn't for my high school patna going to prison & coming out swolled up in the early 2000s, I probably never would have hit the gym lol.

He came out looking like Tookie Wiiliams & this nigga was probably 145 soaking wet before prison. Bro was doing like a thousand pushup a day because the prison stopped providing heavy weights.

From your workout, I know you can. If you go for it, I will, too.1 rep. I'm right at 6'1, 190lbs to 200 now. That weight though lol shit it wasn't a joke to me. Mental shit

one of the reasons i built a gym in my garage
when cats start talkin' that shit, i be like SHOW ME.
:roflmao:

Man I’m 46 6’2 185lb bench 225lb. The max I’ve done was 320lb, yes ninja went with 3 plates and
2 1/2 lb. I felt weight going through my bones!

Last but least at my boy house party, this ninja(Franky) got drunk started talking shit in front of the women. We put 205 on the bench, ask him do he need a warm up. He said fuck no, I got this shit.

Man he lifted that shit off, it landed straight on his chest. We picked it off him and racked it back up. Ninja said the fuck wrong with your bench! Ninja said watch out and lifted that motherfucker again. That bitch fell straight down again on his chest. We was in tears lol.

Mind you this the same ninja who once flashed a police officer with his high beams, on a two lane highway. Saw the dotted line and drove around him saying he driving to slow. Ninja got straight pulled over for dui and got his license revoked!

bamma was doin' too much lol

props on your bench by the way

i don't consider myself a naturally gifted bench presser...or squatter...or deadlifter...

and i'm probably slightly above average in the strength category...with average size..

the most i've ever benched was 315 ... and I stopped caring about it long ago....

i didn't neglect my legs but i never wanted extremely big legs so I never squatted with anything over 225...

and I preferred to do rack pulls as opposed to deadlifts...but the most I ever tried to deadlift was probably around 405 lbs (I didn't keep track of the 5s and 10s and 2-and-a-halfs i was adding)

it's just like anything....if you focus on it...and want to get better at it...you'll research it...do the appropriate supplemental exercises and you'll start puttin' up better numbers..
