No, I have no issues with Rakim but André 3000 has more clever lyrics and a tight flowIm living down south and I see how they love OutKast down here. I dont have an issue with the list even though to me Wutang, and RunDMC should be 1/2 respectively.
But if yall dont stop with Andre 3000 being nicer then Rakim....

The only part that I agree with you on is I wish André 3000 did a solo album during his prime. They sort of did separate albums with the love below and speaker box, but you get the picture.More clever lyrics? You have got to stop. Even though we are talking close to 40 years ago some of what Rakim said still goes over the average cat.
3000 doesnt have a solo project which is almost criminal.
Pretty big deal never having ONE solo project. The only part that I agree with you on is I wish André 3000 did a solo album during his prime. They sort of did separate albums with the love below and speaker box, but you get the picture.
He also did ballads too…Pretty big deal never having ONE solo project.
Know the Ledge>>>>>>>>>>More clever lyrics? You have got to stop. Even though we are talking close to 40 years ago some of what Rakim said still goes over the average cat.

As I said, I have no issues with Rakim I grew up doing his time. I also grew up doing OutKast times as well.Im convinced that lot of cats never caught on to what Rakim was saying, cats STILL using slang he popularized.

anybody that can ever say that in their opinion "Rakim's lyrics are simple when compared to 3k's"Not saying you have a problem with Rakim, I dont have one with 3000. I grew with both as well, which is why I regulate my hip hop talk to people pretty much 45 years old and up..... Rakim revolutionized hip hop. 3k is nice but def in an alternative way to me. I saw the ballad and all that, thats great, he is a TALENT, acting etc. far as straight MCing... Nah it's not even in the same sentence for me.
“
All this pussy cat that's in my lap
No lookin' back
Spaceships don't come equipped with rear view mirrors
They dip as quick as they can
The atmosphere is now ripped
I'm so like a pimp”
Just saying…![]()

Rakim doesn’t need no accolades from the media he knows the respect he gets from people that really know hip hop. Amongst his peers he is overly respected and revered. 3k gets his props but you don’t hear KRS or Kane praise him like they do Rakim. Nas didn’t make a song about 3K.
Yall niggas are some turncoats. Its easy to be better than me when you got to see my whole career play out and take notes.
Rakim wrote the play book on making rap flows a serious art form. Before that nigga rap was still at the bubble gum stage and the niggas with the most serious messages were still wearing disco suits.
Rakim and Run DMC along with Kool J set the standards for hip hop fashion until Andre 3000 faggy ass told the weirdos its ok to be strange in rap.
If anything 3000 and the ATL fag movement opened the doors to the slop thats called rap today.
All that androgynous shit should have stayed in jazz and r&b were it belongs. This current shit doesn't even chart and thot rap is losing money quicker than Disney.
Andre ol emo ass ain't even true to the game and won't even tour. Fuck that nigga and the Love Below. Said it then and I'll say it again, that shit wasn't even a rap record and Big Boi had the biggest hit on that "album".
NeverI know Rakim is a solid MC, but Andre 3000 is not wet behind the ears. Andre 3000 lyrically can hang with Rakim
I was kinda with you off and on but on that last part?
Nah...
You forget this one?

Hey Ya! - Wikipedia

Both those songs were hits and one did amazing considering it wasn't marketed outside the US.
Big Boi song got all the black acclaim plus white accolades and actually gave that album a legitimate hit without industry push. When is the last time some played Hey Ya at a picnic. He certainly wasn't after we were done hustling to The Way you Move.
And we see Andres hart was never in this shit after he got Badued, yet yall still wanna rank dude when he dont even want to be ranked.
Quite as kept, Andre knew in the back of his head Big Bois flow was catching up to that nonsense Dre was saying at the end. Andre went from carrying Big Boi to being carried. Even 3000 keep telling you dudes he aint got shit to say.
Then this nigga say some nonsense jibber jabber and you "heads" go crazy.
Thank God Rakim aint nothing like the flute playing Emo boy and is still touring. 3000 still pissy his white fans didn't cult worship him at Lollapalooza.
So pissy I bet that turbin he wears was 400 degrees.
The Love Below is a classic to white folks and the dumb niggas who supported that crap.I hear you.
You can search the board I been defending Big Boi and THAT record for YEARS.
But I'm saying we gotta be honest
sales influence marketing Hey Ya is a ridiculous pop hit that's just facts. It is the BIGGER record. Crossing every metric.
But The Way you move record - to ME?
That is one of my FAVORITE all time grown folk rap records ever.
But they STILL play that Hey Ya records at schools bro.
Both records are still dope undisputed classics.
The Love Below is a classic to white folks and the dumb niggas who supported that crap.
3000 went the hippy route thinking he was smart. Too stupid to understand white people have very little loyalty in music beyond a band or two.
Dre acting like a Beatles knock off was going to make him the next Jim Hendrix. Guy doesn't even play an instrument and wanted that white love.
No voice like Ruker or skills like Jimmy but wanted all that smoke.
His Prince Purple Rain imitation wasn't cool either. Idlewild floped with his acting career and dude went mentally AWOL.
I still like pre TLB Dre, but once he went hippy he stopped being himself and became whatever organic hipster movement he was into. Cool nigga but fake at the same time because you don't know what you are getting with him. Basically a flake.
I can't argue the numbers but I will say I told niggas it would dead end his career.I understand your points on all that.
trust
But that still has nothing to do with record breaking singles off that. That's just the facts.

Lets close this case...
I learn to relax in my room and escape from New York
And return through the womb of the world as a thought
Thinking how hard it was to be born
Me being wit no physical form
Millions have settled wit one destination
To reach the best part, it's life creation
9 months later, a job well done
Make way, 'cause here I come..
The wild thing is looking at these visuals... This whole song is crazy, lot of cats dont have any knowledge of self so it's like they can't get him talking about them being exiled in caves or thinking about the brothers and sisters in Africa.. Anyways almost 40 years later cats still saying it aint where you from its where you at or some variation of this. Return the thought through the eye of a needle
For miles I just fought the people
Under the dark skies on a dark side
Not only there but right here's an apartheid
So now is the time for us to react
Take a trip through the mind and when you get back
Understand you're third eye seen all of that
It ain't where you're from, it's where you're at
