I have no idea how to make a resume, I'm in school for my bachelors and I am lost. I am wondering to myself I'm over 40, maybe I just need to go to Home Depot and call it a day, life shouldn't be so hard and I clearly didn't have the basics at a younger age, I am too old to be stressed out all the time.

I spent about seven years as a professor in adult education and I’ve heard this many times from students like yourself.

Did you just return to school? If so, how long have you been out? Why are you going back to school? What major did you select upon your return? Do you have wife and kids? Lastly, do you work full time already?

These are fundamental questions I used to ask to get an idea where my students were at.

Man if you in or around ATL of should apply to this program. 100% legit and the people that complete the program are damn near guaranteed a job with a solid employer somewhere in Atlanta because they tied in with a whole bunch of F500 companies. I’m in cybersecurity and former employer has hired 4 people from here in the past year. 0 experienced required, they literally train you. They also teach you how to build resume, LinkedIn presence, and mock interviews. Shits crazy. Only caveat is it is full time M-F so really gotta want it because you have to do this go to work after if you need to make money.

Don’t sell yourself short. I was in same boat a year or so ago. What others have said above are all gems, I’d also add be positive about your outlook. I know things can be frustrating and outcome look dreary but I’m telling ya - keeping positive and reminding yourself you’re just starting your next chapter is key.
Also there are still a large amount of folks hiring. I looked to a totally new career path at 41 and it ain’t been easy but I’m on the other side now. Keep us updated. This board has a ton of folks that know a thing or two lean in to the resources here!

Home Depot is not bad they offer good benefits and will pay for some of your school, Costco is another good place.

I just returned after maybe 20 years I was really down a lot and depressed and finally seeing a little light in terms of happiness. Better pjob, network security, no wife, no kids and over 40 smh and I do a job that I wouldn't put on my resume that's all I gotta say.

Yes, you’ve sound like many adults I’ve taught in the past. Even sounds like a similar school.

If you really want to pursue that degree then you must commit to it 100%. As an adult you don’t have time to waste, so don’t waste no time in school if you’re not going to finish it out. a lot of these schools a predators. They look to come up on people that isn’t ready to fully commit to school. So don’t waste time or money. Especially if you’re taking loans. However, if you’re a vet, then use the shit out of that GI money.

If you decide to peruse that degree, then take advantage and gain certifications. The degree by itself isn’t going to cut it. Also, really look into that career path. Network security is ver broad. Many that graduates ends up at entry level help desk. The certifications will make you more marketable. Look for externships while you’re in there to gain some experience.

Use school as an opportunity to improve yourself as a person as much as it will help your career. You’re looking for career type jobs in the IT field when you graduate. Begin to speak the language of the profession.

But ultimately, assess if you even want to deal with it. I don’t recommend school if you’re going to go in debt and not graduate.

@totto.... You used too an to correctly in the age of autocorrect and diminished written linguistic skills.

Resume writing is about presenting yourself to the job you want so they can see if you'd fit into their team as well as the job.
