The word "sick" is used by different people in different ways. The CDC doesn't care about someone getting the sniffles with regards to covid. Breakthrough infections that either kill someone or put them in the ICU are rare.
The exact number of breakthrough infections is difficult to determine because someone can get infected after being fully vaccinated but have no symptoms and therefore not seek testing.
